Collette Tours 2016 & 2017 - Worldwide Guided Vacations

collette-toursCollette Tours is a global leader of world travel and Escorted Tours, offering 150 vacation choices on all seven continents.

What Makes Collette Tours Different

The first difference is that Collette is family owned and operated since 1918. Rather than employing different local guides in various countries, Collette employs over 100 tour directors to ensure the best experience for travelers. Collette Tour Vacations also tend to be more inclusive than many other tour companies in their price range. Rather than offering hundreds of tours, they have hand selected trips that focus on getting to know a destination in depth, while embracing the local culture and ensuring that each trip is educational and memorable. Collette 2016 and 2017 dates and prices are available for most of their trips, allowing you to plan early and save.

Take Collette Tours and experience the world's most fascinating destinations. With Collette you will find a selection of travel styles including river cruises, train journeys, small group trips and escorted motor coach tours. Past passengers of Collette can receive up to $150 off per person on their next vacation with the Collette Loyalty program.

New Collette tours for 2016 include Irish Splendor, Discover Tuscany, Treasures of Piedmont, Christmas in London, UK by Rail, Timeless France, Journey through Southern France, Highlights of Morocco, Madrid, Seville and Lisbon, Northern Spain and Portugal and Magical Rhine cruise.  New USA tours include Northern National Parks, Yellowstone in the Winter, Hawaii by Land and Sea and Yellowstone Winter.

Choose from Classic Collette tours, Collette family tours, Collette Explorations small group travel (12 to 28 guests) or RHS Garden Holidays. Collette's Exploration small groups tours has a selection of 14 itineraries - 6 trips in Europe, 2 in Africa, 2 Asia, 1 Australia and 3 South and Central America. Travelers feedback is positive, with particular mention of the authentic accommodations use by Collette in each region.

Flower buffs can take advantage of the partnership between the Royal Horticultural Society and Collette to visit some of the world's most beautiful gardens. Trips include private entry to public gardens led by expert Collette guides. These trips are available in Rome, France, Britain, London, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Japan.

Prepare For Your Trip

Group Polices

For most tour companies, a group is considered 8 or more passengers traveling together. The group will receive a booking discount and depending on the size of the group, free travel benefits may apply.

You must now decide some key points.

  • How long do you want your tour to last? Examples: 7, 10, 14 days or longer.
  • What dates are possible that everyone in the group is able to travel? (It is wise to have more than one date available.)
  • The itinerary — what areas do you want to tour? Examples: Caribbean, Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, or Eastern U.S. and Canada
  • What type of tour are you interested in?
  • Fully escorted, leisure style, independent?
  • What type of accommodations are you interested in?
  • Budget (the least expensive), first class, deluxe or luxury (the most expensive)?
  • How many in the group will be bringing children?
  • Does anyone in the group need a handicapped cabin or have any special needs.
  • Does anyone require air travel and if so from where?
  • Do you have anyone who is not an U. S. citizen?
  • Will anyone be traveling as a single?

Now that you have discussed the basics with your group, it is time to call your our Tour Specialist to begin getting prices and discuss the particulars that your group will require.

Your tour specialist will be asking the questions that we have listed above. He or she will work with you on prices and the planning materials that will make your job easier. If you feel it necessary, your tour specialist will be able to supply you with informational flyers and brochures to pass out at your next meeting. At this meeting it will be time to pass out the registration forms for those that are interested. This form will have space for the names of the passengers, their address, phone number, choice of cabin type, place for special needs, and whether or not they want travel insurance.

Your tour is a vacation investment and we highly suggest the protection of travel insurance.

The form will also give payment dates. We will keep track of payment dates and automatically charge credit cards at the pre-authorized amounts and times. So you will be free to dream about your upcoming tour vacation. After the forms are filled out your tour specialist will then begin booking your group. A couple of weeks before you tour; your documents will be shipped out. Documents are normally sent to the group leader for distribution.  If they will need to be sent out to various addresses, there may be a minimal charge for shipment.

We hope that these suggestions have been helpful to you. When your group is ready to tour, please call our group department.

Smaller group?

Friendly 5 Discount -Save 5%

Nothing to Lose, Everything to Gain...Collette Vacations Waiver Policy

With Collette Vacations No Worries Travel Protection Plan, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain in planning your vacation. That's because our cancellation waiver allows for cancellation at ANY point in the trip planning process, for ANY reason, prior to the day of departure.

This unique program allows you the comfort and safety of continuing to plan your vacation but allows you the option to change your mind should individual circumstances change. Now that's peace of mind!

Top Three Reasons to Purchase Collette Vacations No Worries Travel Protection Plan

1. You can cancel your trip for ANY reason, at ANY time right up to the day prior to departure! No need to navigate fine print; ANY reason is acceptable!

2. We are one of only 2 major tour operators who offers a full refund, not vouchers or credits.

3. Our travel protection plan gives you peace of mind when you are traveling

What exactly is your cancellation waiver?

We have the best cancellation waiver in the industry-period. You can cancel your trip up until the day prior to departure for any reason - sickness, change of heart or any reason whatsoever-and you will receive a full refund, minus the small cost of the insurance. That's a cash refund, not a voucher or certificate. There's no risk when you book with Collette.

But isn't it expensive?

Not at all! Let's say you were planning to take our Italian Vistas tour for 13 days. The land-only waiver is just $170 per person. That breaks down to about $13.07 a day-just a little over eight euros! The land and air waiver is only $30 more. That's airplane peanuts compared to the peace of mind you'll enjoy.

Plus, you're covered on tour.

Our cancellation waiver and insurance plan covers you on tour. If you have to stop your trip or return home early, need medical assistance or evacuation, suffer a baggage loss or delay; or are delayed on tour for 12 hours or more, you're covered.

CANCELLATION WAIVER & INSURANCE PLAN

Exception: If you originally purchased non-refundable airline tickets, the Waiver does not provide a refund for the airline tickets, taxes or fees in the event of a cancellation or a return transportation benefit if you must return home early. The air waiver does not cover medical evacuation or additional expenses associated with a medical emergency.

The Waiver Fee does not cover any single supplement charges which arise from an individual’s traveling companion electing to cancel for any reason prior to departure. In this case, the single supplement will be deducted from the refund of the person who cancels. Division of this charge between the two passengers involved is solely their responsibility. If insufficient funds are deducted from the canceling client, the traveling client will be charged the remaining portion of the single supplement.

Payment of the Waiver Fee (if chosen) must be received by Collette Vacations with your Deposit. The Waiver is non-transferable and valid for each applicant only.

Collette Vacations can assume no responsibility for and cannot be held liable for any wrongful, negligent or unauthorized acts or omissions of any travel agent or travel agency other than that of Collette Travel Service, Inc. itself, and its own employees.

Other FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

• What is not included in the tour price?

The land price does not include air travel, airline fees, airport or departure taxes, transfers, visas, customary end of trip gratuities for your tour manager, driver, local guides, hotel housekeepers, cruise ship wait staff, and any incidental charges.

• Can Collette Vacations book our airline reservations?

Collette Vacations is happy to assist you in accommodating your flight needs. Due to tour scheduling and limited availability you are strongly encouraged to take advantage of Collette's air packages. We are not responsible for air arrangements you have made on your own. On occasion, it is necessary to change tour dates. In this case, we can only protect air reservations booked through Collette Vacations . For all air reservations, it is strongly recommended to reconfirm flights before departure, in the event that the airline has an unexpected schedule change. We cannot assume responsibility for schedule changes, routings or flight cancellations involving the airlines.

• Are airport and hotel transfers available?

Roundtrip airport-to-hotel transfers are provided FREE for all passengers who purchase airfare through Collette Vacations . These transfers are available on the first and last day of the tour date and do not apply to pre and post night stays.

Passengers who do not purchase airfare through Collette can purchase transfers at an additional cost of $100 per person, round trip. Some restrictions may apply.

• Do you accept late bookings?

Tour sales normally close 7 days prior to departure. All late bookings are on request and must be guaranteed with a credit card if within 60 days of departure date. A late booking fee of $25.00 may be assessed to cover express mailing of documents and other expenses incurred.

• Do I need a Passport?

A valid Passport is required for trips outside the USA. We strongly recommend that you have a valid passport (with six month validity) for all travel outside the United States. You are strongly urged to contact the appropriate consulate for additional details.

• What is the difference between a twin room and a double room?

A double room is designed to accommodate two people, but may not have two separate beds. A twin bedded room has two separate beds of any size, and is the type most commonly utilized.

• Do you rotate seats on tours?

Seats are rotated on board the coach for all Collette tours under the direction of the tour manager. So that we do not show partiality among passengers, exceptions cannot be made.

• What size is a triple room?

A triple room is the same size as a twin bedded room and beds will accommodate three people; but we cannot guarantee that there will be three separate beds. If there are only two beds, a rollaway may be requested but cannot be guaranteed due to size of room and fire codes.

• Can I extend my tour to see more of a region?

Yes! You may enhance your tour with either an extension, offered on select tours, or by purchasing pre/post hotel stays.

Extensions may be "hosted" rather than escorted. When hosted, passengers will be greeted upon arrival by a local tour manager who will provide all included services, and be available on-call during the duration of the extension. A minimum number of passengers may be required to operate some extensions. Extensions not purchased at time of deposit are subject to availability and applicable charges at time of request. Collette also offers pre and post hotel nights before and/or after a tour for you to explore the destination independently. Should you purchase additional nights, please be advised that your tour manager will not be available during this time.

• Would my tour date ever be changed?

Collette Vacations reserves the right to cancel any tour prior to departure for any reason. Should this happen, Collette Vacations will make every effort to protect you on another departure date and if an alternate cannot be found, a full refund will be made. Air booked through Collette Vacations will be protected. We cannot be held responsible for other air arrangements.

Should you decide to change your reservation after initial booking, a handling fee of $25 per transaction will be charged for any alteration made to a reservation (including name changes). Revisions to air tickets are subject to the rules and regulations of the airline and fare type purchased and rates vary. A change of tour date or tour itinerary within the guidelines of the cancellation policy will be treated as a cancellation and regular cancellation fees may apply. See Cancellation Policy.

• Where do I meet my tour manager?

Your tour will begin at your first hotel. The tour manager will make contact with you at the hotel and will provide details relating to your tour. The hotel address and phone number will be included in your documents.

• How can I be best prepared for the pacing and physical requirements on a Collette tour?

Tour pacing varies by itinerary, as each destination, its sightseeing and activities are unique. Pacing is often subject to personal interpretation, however at Collette we do include the best a destination has to offer, enhancing your overall tour experience. For overnight pacing of a tour, please refer to the "Your Itinerary" section on each tour page. This describes the number of nights you will stay in each hotel during your tour. The day by day descriptions will provide additional detail about the number of activities included in each day. Some of the most unique sightseeing can mean accessing locations that restrict motorcoaches, especially in historic areas. For your comfort, we recommend packing walking shoes so you fully enjoy every aspect of your vacation .

TRAVELERS NEEDING SPECIAL ASSISTANCE You must report any disability requiring special attention to Collette Vacations at the time the reservation is made. Collette will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the special needs of tour participants. Such participants, however, should be aware that the Americans with Disabilities Act is inapplicable outside of the United States and facilities outside the United States for disabled individuals are limited. It is strongly recommended that persons requiring assistance be accompanied by a companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing the assistance. Neither Collette nor its personnel, nor its suppliers, may physically lift or assist clients into transportation vehicles. If a traveler thinks he or she might need assistance during a trip, he or she should call Collette to determine what assistance might reasonably be given. Collette cannot provide special individual assistance to tour members with special needs for walking, dining or other routine activities.

BAGGAGE DISCLAIMER Although every effort is made to handle passengers’ luggage as carefully as possible, Collette Vacations is not responsible for and does not assume liability or accept claims for loss of or damage to luggage due to breakage, theft or wear and tear through hotel and group carrier handling. It is recommended for your own self interest and protection that you have adequate insurance to cover these eventualities. Check with your sales agent for low cost insurance to cover these risks.

MOTORCOACH WASHROOMS Most motorcoaches used on our tours are equipped with washrooms (except safari vehicles, exotic locations, and some of our Explorations tours). These are typically for emergency use, as we make plenty of comfort stops, allowing you the opportunity to use public restrooms and/or stretch your legs.

MAPS AND PHOTOS Maps shown on tour pages are current at the time of printing and may not reflect actual tour routing should the tour change. Photos shown on tour pages are reflective of the area(s) visited, but may not be included in the actual tour itinerary.

EXPLANATION OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND TOUR CONDITIONS FOR COLLETTE VACATIONS Any person reserving or purchasing any Collette Vacations product published on this website or in our brochures accepts the condition that Collette reserves to itself the exclusive right to change or cancel itineraries, hotels, and other tour components whenever it is deemed necessary. If this occurs, every effort will be made to offer alternate dates and/or programs.

Published times on itineraries are as accurate as possible but subject to change due to traffic, weather, mechanical and any other conditions beyond Collette’s control that prevent Collette Vacations from operating as scheduled. Collette Vacations expressly disclaims any liability for any damages that may be incurred for any changes, cancellations or delays on any itinerary on any Collette tour.

All rates on foreign tours are subject to fluctuations of currency and may be changed when necessary without advance notice prior to deposit.

All rates published are per person as indicated and are based on double occupancy when only one rate is shown. Reservations will be accepted subject to availability at the time of a request and will be considered confirmed only upon receipt of a minimum deposit. Child land rates are available and are valid for ages 5-12, sharing a room with two full paying adults.

Collette Vacations does not accept liability in the case of any passenger being denied boarding by any airline carrier due to the carrier’s over-booking of a flight. All cancellation charges, fees and refunds for any tour within this brochure are in effect as of the effective date as indicated below and supersede any other previously printed policies relating to these same charges.

GENERAL DISCLAIMER Neither Collette Travel Services, Inc., its affiliated entities and its and their employees, shareholders, officers, directors, successors, agents, and assigns (collectively “Collette”), own or operate any person or entity which is to or does provide goods or services for these trips. Collette does not maintain control or operate the personnel, equipment, or operations of these suppliers it uses and as such Collette assumes no responsibility for and cannot be held liable for any personal injury, death, property damage or other loss, accident, delay, inconvenience, or irregularity which may be occasioned by reason of (1) any wrongful, negligent, willful or unauthorized acts or omissions on the part of any of the suppliers or other employees or agents, (2) any defect in or failure of any vehicle, equipment, or instrument owned, operated or otherwise used by any of these suppliers, or (3) any wrongful, willful or negligent act or omission on the part of any other party not under the supervision and control of Collette.

Additionally, responsibility is not accepted for losses or expenses due to sickness, lack of appropriate medical facilities or practitioners, weather, strikes, theft or other criminal acts, war, terrorism, computer problems, or other such causes. All services and accommodations are subject to the laws of the country in which they are provided. Collette reserves the right to make changes in the published itinerary whenever, in their sole judgment, conditions warrant, or if Collette deems it necessary for the comfort, convenience, or safety of the tour. Collette reserves the right to withdraw any tour announced. Collette reserves the right to decline to accept any person as a member of the tour, or to require any participant to withdraw from the tour at any time, when such action is determined by the tour manager to be in the best interests of the health, safety, and general welfare of the tour group or of the individual participant. Neither does Collette accept liability for any carrier’s cancellation penalty incurred by the purchase of a non-refundable airline or other ticket to the tour departure city and return or otherwise. Baggage and personal effects are the sole responsibility of the owner at all times.

Participants may be photographed for the promotional purposes of Collette. Payment of the deposit to Collette constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.

ARBITRATION I agree that any dispute concerning, relating, or referring to this contract, the brochure or any other literature concerning my trip, or the trip itself, shall be resolved exclusively by binding arbitration according to the then existing rules of the American Arbitration Association in Rhode Island. Such proceedings will be governed by substantive Rhode Island law. The arbitrator and not any federal, state, or local court or agency shall have exclusive authority to resolve any dispute relating to the interpretation, applicability, enforceability, conscionability, or formation of this contract, including but not limited to any claim that all or any part of this contract is void or voidable.

SPECIAL OFFERS AND DISCOUNTING POLICY Collette may periodically offer special deals on certain tours and departure dates. These special offers unless otherwise noted, are land only, valid on new retail bookings only and not combinable with any other offer. Please also refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.

Collette Vacations also has a policy on discounting. The Collette policy is to not promise a discount off Collette prices (either explicit or implicit). Percentage-off offers are prohibited, as are statements that say, "We discount Collette tours." This policy is in effect for all types of online advertising, including (but not limited to) Collette promotion on a company web site, search engine or email marketing campaign.

Collette maintains the right to refuse bookings from any partner who does not comply with this policy to our satisfaction.

FAMILY TOURS DISCLAIMER Any minor child (under the age of majority) who shall participate in a Collette Family Tour program must be accompanied by an adult and supervised by an adult during the entire length of the tour. Collette will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the special needs of any minor child during the tour. However, Collette cannot provide special individual assistance to any minor tour participant. The adult travel companion shall be primarily responsible for the conduct and care of the minor tour participant. Collette will not accept any parental responsibility for the minor tour participant.
