Airport Transfers
 
  • London Gateways: Transfers can be expensive, particularly between the Airport and central London. When you book your tour with Trafalgar your transfers to and from the airport are included. It''s that simple. Trafalgar has included a Free transfer to and from your airport and Central London.
  • Important – Please Note: Passengers will only be entitled to transfers to and from London Airports providing the following conditions are met:
  • You are staying at a London hotel, booked by Trafalgar, on the night of your arrival and the night prior to the date of your departure.
  • Flights are either booked by Trafalgar or detailed information on flights is provided by your Travel Agent not less than 21 days prior to departure.
  • Only one included transfer both inbound and outbound per tour is included by Trafalgar. Transfers are by express train to a Central London Rail Station.
  • Heathrow Airport: Inbound transfers operate between 06.00-21.30. Outbound transfers are timed to connect with scheduled flights departing between 08.00-23.00. Transfers will be by coach. Gatwick Airport: Inbound transfers operate between 06.00-12.30. Outbound transfers are timed to connect with scheduled flights departing between 08.00-23.00. Transfers will be by express train and coach. Transfers outside these times will be at the passengers own expense.

Itinerary

  • Day 1- Depart USA Overnight flight to Athens.
     
  • Day 2- Arrive Athens (2 nights) After being met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, there is time to relax or explore. Tonight we enjoy a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and fellow travelling companions

  • Day 3- Athens sightseeing and at leisure Our guided morning sightseeing tour delves deep into the colourful history of Athens. The highlight of the tour, of course, is the visit to the Acropolis on the Parthenon hill, which still dominates the modern city of Athens. But we also see the Agora, the Royal Palace, the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch and the stadium built for the first modern Olympics in 1896. Later there is free time and this evening maybe dine in one of the many restaurants found in the lively Plaka area. (Buffet Breakfast)
     
  • Day 4- Athens – Nauplia This morning we drive to the bridge across the breathtakingly narrow Corinth Canal and cross into the Peloponnese region. Then we visit the remains of the ancient city of Corinth, en route to Mycenae, to see the Beehive Tombs, the Treasury of Atreus, the Lion Gate and the remains of Agamemnon’s Royal Palace. We continue on to the Sanctuary of Aesculapius, the God of Medicine, to visit the amphitheatre, before finally arriving in Nauplia. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 5- Nauplia – Olympia Today a delightful drive takes us through the Mountains of Arcadia to Olympia, where the first Olympic Games were held in 776 BC. Next, on our guided walking tour of this archaeological site, we stroll around the ancient Olympic Stadium and Gymnasium and see the Temples of Zeus and Hera. This evening we dine at our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 6- Olympia – Delphi Now we head north to Patras where we take the modern bridge across the Gulf of Corinth to mainland Greece. We follow the coast to Delphi, home of the Oracle, which clings to the side of Mount Parnassus at a height of 2,000 feet! We walk up the Sacred Way, past the splendid Parian marble treasury of the Athenians to the Temple of Apollo, where the Oracle of Delphi breathed her enigmatic ‘words.’ (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 7- Delphi – Kalambaka Today’s drive takes us across fertile Thessaly, ‘the bread basket of Greece’, and over the Pourmaraki Pass to Larnia , and then on via Trikala to Kalambaka. Here we visit two of the amazing monasteries of Meteora, incredibly perched high on pinnacles of rock. We admire the beautiful Byzantine frescoes and the stunning views before continuing to our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 8- Kalambaka – Athens This morning we enjoy a scenic drive along the coast to Thermopylae, site of the renowned battle between the fearsome Spartans and the Persians. We stop to view the battle site before returning to Athens for our final night in this fascinating city. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 9 Athens – USA This morning we bid farewell to our new found friends as we are transferred to the airport for our return flight to the USA. (Buffet Breakfast)
     
  • Christmas & New Year''s Eve Highlights On tour departures 22 Dec days 4 to 7 will be operated in reverse in order to visit sites when open over the Christmas period. Airport Transfers
Airport Transfers Transfers on arrival and departure from Cairo Airport will only be provided to passengers who have advised us of their flight information and are scheduled for first and last day of the tour only.
  • London Gateway: Trafalgar passengers purchasing either “Land Only” or “Land and Air” will receive Hotelink transfers during published hours of operation. This is providing that:
  • Passengers are staying at a London hotel, booked by Trafalgar on the night of their arrival and the night before their departure.
  • Passengers or their Travel Agents supply Trafalgar with accurate flight information not less than 14 days prior to departure.
  • European Gateways: Trafalgar passengers purchasing “Land Only” will receive coach transfers at the times published in the brochure at NO extra charge. However, if these “Land Only” passengers arrive outside the brochure advertised coach transfer times they must make their own arrangements at their own expense.
  • Passengers purchasing “Land and Air” from Trafalgar will receive coach transfers at times published in the brochure or, if they arrive outside of these set times, then a separate transfer will be booked for them. These transfers will be available only on the days of arrival and departure of the tour.

  • Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Cairo.
     
  • Day 2 - Arrive Cairo Welcome to Egypt! You are met on arrival at Cairo Airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax or to begin to explore this fascinating city.

  • Day 3 - Cairo – Pyramid Excursion - Overnight Train This morning we begin our guided sightseeing tour with a visit to Memphis, capital of the Old Kingdom, where a colossal statue of Ramses II and a great alabaster sphinx are most impressive. Then to nearby Sakkara where we view the Step Pyramid of Zoser I, the oldest in the world. Our highlight visit is of course to see the magnificent Pyramids at Giza and the enigmatic Sphinx. Later, we board our overnight train to Aswan. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
     
  • Day 4 - Aswan – Nile Cruise (3 nights) This morning, on arrival in Aswan, we visit the impressive High Dam and also the ancient Granite Quarries to see the enormous Unfinished Obelisk. We take a motorboat to the Temple of Isis, rising from the waters of the Nile on the island of Philae. Later we board our cruise ship, our home for the next three nights. (Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

  • Day 5 - Nile Cruise: Aswan – Kom-Ombo – Edfu This morning there is the chance to join an optional excursion by air to see the temples of Abu Simbel, carved out of the rock by Ramses II and later rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. Later we enjoy a felucca ride on the Nile around Aswan’s Botanical gardens. Then we return to our cruise ship and continue to Kom-Ombo and on to Edfu. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
     
  • Day 6 - Nile Cruise: Edfu – Luxor We visit Edfu and then on to Luxor where we visit the great Temple which provides an unforgettable introduction to ancient Egypt. Then we tour the awe inspiring temple complex of Karnak with its vast Hypostyle Hall and avenues of sphinxes. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
     
  • Day 7 - Disembark – Luxor This morning we visit the incredible Valley of the Kings, the burial place of many of the New Kingdom pharaohs, including of course, young King Tutankhamun. Then we visit the amazing temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Medinet Habou, which blends into the cliff face, and the Colossi of Memnon, which are the two giant seated figures that are all that remains of the mortuary temple of Amon-Ofis III. Later we are transferred to our hotel in Luxor. (Breakfast)

  • Day 8 - Luxor – Cairo (2 nights) In the morning we are at leisure. Then we transfer to the airport for our flight back to the capital city, Cairo, where we are transferred to our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 9 - Cairo sightseeing Today’s sightseeing highlights the Citadel for breathtaking views of the city. Salah El Din started the Citadel in the 12th century, but it owes its present outline to Mohammed Ali who built the Alabaster Mosque, which we will see next on our tour. In Old Cairo we visit the Hanging Church of St. Mary. Then we have a highlight visit to the famous Egyptian Museum. Here, among the many thousands of artifacts on display, we see the splendid treasures of Tutankhamun, including his priceless burial mask. Tonight is at leisure, with time perhaps to visit a traditional Egyptian folklore show. (Buffet Breakfast)
     
  • Day 10 Cairo – USA Time to bid farewell to your Tour Director and new found friends as you are transferred to the airport for your return flight to the USA. (Buffet Breakfast)

A fabulous Nile Cruise is included:
A highlight of this tour is a cruise along the legendary River Nile onboard the latest and most luxurious of ships, the MS Medea* or MS Giselle *5-star features of the MS Medea and MS Giselle are fully air-conditioned, luxury two-berth cabins with en suite bathroom, full size bath, shower and toilet. There is a TV with video channels, music system, hair dryer, internal telephone and mini-bar. Onboard facilities of this superb vessel include a plunge pool and sun deck which runs the length and width of the ship, salon, two bars, a lounge for relaxing, dancing and folklore entertainment, a large restaurant serving Egyptian and international cuisine, and two gift shops.
Complimentary Transfers
  • Passengers will need to make their way to the meet and greet area where they will be met by a representative holding a TRAFALGAR UNIWORLD sign. Passengers arriving outside the official dates of arrival will need to make their own arrangements or purchase a private transfer.
  • Departure Transfers: Departure Transfers: Flights must depart between 0700 and 1700 on the day that the cruise or the included land package ends in order to receive the ship to airport transfer. Passengers departing later than this must make their own arrangements or purchase private transfers.
  • Passenger flight details Passenger flight details must be given to Trafalgar 45 days days prior to departure in order to qualify for these tranfers.

  • Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Cairo.
     
  • Day 2 - Arrive Cairo Trafalgar meets you on your arrival at Cairo Airport and transfers you to your hotel. The remainder of your day is at leisure to discover the amazing contrasts of ancient and modern Egypt.

  • Day 3 - Cairo – Luxor – Nile Cruise (4 nights) A morning flight from Cairo to Luxor on the River Nile. On arrival, the rest of the morning is free, before we board our luxury cruise ship for lunch. Later, we visit the grand Temple of Luxor which dominates the town and also the gigantic temple complex at Karnak. Explore the mighty temple of Amun with its mass of obelisks, pylons, colossi and courts. Plus marvel at the remains of the amazing Avenue of the Sphinx, which once stretched between the Temples of Karnak and Luxor. Later, we return to our cruise ship for dinner.   • Day 4 - Nile Cruise: Luxor – Edfu Today''s highlight is a visit to the Valley of the Kings. Secluded in the Theban Hills, it is where the New Kingdom pharaohs were buried in dramatically shafted tombs built into the hillsides. Next we visit the Temple of Medinet Habou and on to the breathtaking Deir el-Bahri, Queen Hatshepsut''s impressive temple. Later, we return to the ship and sail for Edfu.   • Day 5 - Nile Cruise: Edfu – Kom-Ombo This morning we visit Edfu to see Egypt''s best-preserved cult temple, which was dedicated to the falcon god Horus. Then we continue our tranquil cruise along the Nile arriving at Kom-Ombo. Why not relax on deck and watch primitive villages on the banks of the river glide by? They have changed little in a thousand years. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
     
  • Day 6 - Nile Cruise: Kom-Ombo – Aswan We visit the roofless Temple of Kom-Ombo, which was built for the falcon and crocodile gods. From here we cruise to Aswan to take a memorable felucca ride across the Nile to visit the Botanical Gardens on Kitchener''s Island. The felucca is the traditional craft of Egyptians who have sailed in them down the centuries. An amazing sight is a blood-red sunset, commonplace in Aswan, with the distinctive sails of dozens of felucca''s silhouetted against the setting sun. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
     
  • Day 7 - Aswan – Cairo (3 nights) We disembark to explore the High Dam. Then we visit the Temple of Isis on the Island of Philae and the massive Unfinished Obelisk. Afterwards, there is a once in a lifetime opportunity to take an optional excursion to the mighty Sun Temple of Abu Simbel, flanked by four giant stone statues of Ramses II. The temple was reclaimed from the dam and reconstructed in its present and unforgettable location. Finally, we transfer to the airport for the return flight to Cairo. (Breakfast)

  • Day 8 - Cairo sightseeing Today we enjoy a full day of sightseeing, which will include the Citadel, the spectacular complex dominating Cairo''s skyline. From here we make a visit to the Sultan Hassan Mosque and Mohammed Ali''s Alabaster Mosque with its highly decorated and ornate interior. In old Cairo we will visit the Hanging Church of St. Mary above the old water gate. Also we will visit the Egyptian Museum, home of King Tutankhamun''s priceless treasures, discovered by Howard Carter in the Valley of the Kings in 1922. This evening, there is time on your own to do as you please. You may wish to visit a traditional Egyptian folklore show. (Buffet Breakfast)
     
  • Day 9 - Cairo – Pyramid Excursion Today is full of amazing highlights. First we will drive to Memphis where we see the limestone Colossus of Ramses II and the giant Alabaster Sphinx. Next we continue to Sakkara where the Step Pyramid heralded the start of the pyramid age. From here prepare yourself for a breathtaking experience, as we marvel at one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Great Pyramids of Giza, and the Sphinx, which casts its enigmatic gaze across the sands of the desert.   • Day 2 - Arrive Cairo (2 nights) Trafalgar meets you on your arrival at Cairo airport and transfers you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Explore the mighty temple of Amun with its mass of obelisks, pylons, colossi and courts. Plus marvel at the remains of the amazing Avenue of the Sphinx which once stretched between the Temples of Karnak and Luxor. This afternoon we cruise on the Nile, north to Dendera for overnight.   • Day 5 - Nile Cruise: Luxor This morning we visit Dendera Temple, dedicated to the Goddess Hathor, with its sunken relief of Cleopatra with Caesarion, her son by Julius Caesar. Reboarding our ship we sail back to Luxor so that by horse-drawn carriages we ride to the grand Temple of Luxor, dominating the town, built by King Amenhotep III in 1414 BC.   • Day 6 - Nile Cruise: Luxor – Edfu First we visit the West Bank and the Valley of the Kings where the New Kingdom Pharoahs were buried in dramatically shafted tombs built into the hillsides.
