  • DAY 2 Phoenix – Sedona Heading north, we travel through the enigmatic landscape of the upper Sonoran Desert dotted with the conspicuous saguaro cactus. We then enter breathtaking Red Rock Country and arrive at Sedona. The afternoon is yours to explore this charming community renowned for its art galleries, delightfully eclectic shops and spectacular setting. As the sun sets, marvel at the rock formations glowing in brilliant orange and red hues. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 3 - Sedona - Grand Canyon National Park We head north through spectacular Oak Creek Canyon climbing high onto the Kaibab Plateau. Now surrounded by Ponderosa pine forests, we continue towards the awesome Grand Canyon National Park, one of nature''s greatest sights. Watch the colors change on the canyon walls as the sun sets.   • DAY 4 Grand Canyon – Monument Valley – Kayenta Spend the morning exploring the canyon and Canyon Village or take an optional flightseeing tour over the canyon.   • DAY 5 Kayenta – Mesa Verde National Park – Durango (2 nights)
    Explore Mesa Verde National Park, one of the best-preserved ancient Indian cliff dwellings in the Southwest. We stop at several of the park''s most interesting features and have the opportunity to explore one of the sandstone dwellings built into the sides of the canyons. Then, as an option, enjoy a real American West experience as you ride atop or inside authentic horse-drawn stagecoaches into the scenic Weber Canyon for a sunset BBQ dinner with all the fixin''s.   • DAY 7 Durango – Santa Fe (2 nights) We journey south through Indian Country and central New Mexico to Santa Fe, perhaps the greatest city in the Southwest and North America''s oldest capital city. On arrival, join a private guided city tour by open air trolley and discover the historic highlights of this magical city. Dinner tonight is served at a local restaurant.   • Day 8 - Sante Fe at leisure The entire day is yours to do as you please. Explore the city further on your own, visit the museums on the Plaza, the Governor''s Palace, the famous Loretto Chapel, or wander down the artist colony of Canyon Road. This afternoon, perhaps join our optional excursion to Taos - explore the historic plaza, join a native guide for a visit to Taos Pueblo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Historic Monument, then end the day with a relaxing float trip down the Rio Grande River followed by dinner served by Pueblo Indian families.   • Day 9 - Santa Fe – Pecos National Historic Park – Albuquerque We start the day with a visit to Pecos National Historic Park, where the Pueblo Indians first encountered the Spanish explorers. Later we arrive in Albuquerque and stroll the quaint streets of historic Old Albuquerque. (Full Breakfast)

  • Day 10 - Albuquerque – Petrified Forest – Flagstaff Our first stop is at Acoma Pueblo Sky City, where we join a native guide for a tour of this unique village, the oldest continuously inhabited community in North America. We return to Arizona and stop at the Petrified Forest National Park, one of the world''s largest and most colorful concentrations of petrified wood. Traveling through beautiful Ponderosa pine forests, we arrive in beautiful Flagstaff, a city with a strong Route 66 heritage. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 11 - Flagstaff - Depart Phoenix Before breakfast, perhaps take a stroll along the resort’s hiking trail through 500 breathtaking acres of private Ponderosa forest and mountain peaks.   • DAY 2 Denver – Rocky Mountain National Park – Vail Drive to the picturesque town of Estes Park and enter Rocky Mountain National Park, a living showcase of the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains. Travel along Trail Ridge Road enjoying majestic mountain views and abundant wildlife. Cross the Continental Divide, drive along the Blue River and over Vail Pass to arrive at the famed alpine village of Vail. The rest of the day is at leisure. Wander the quaint pedestrian-only alleys lined with shops, restaurants and cafes (When Trail Ridge Road is closed due to weather conditions, travel over Berthoud Pass). (Full Breakfast)

  • DAY 3 Vail Colorado National Monument – Canyonlands National Park –(2 nights) Travel along the Colorado River enjoying the grand landscape of the Rocky Mountains. This afternoon enter Colorado National Monument and follow the scenic Rim Rock Drive viewing sheer-walled canyons, towering monoliths, desert bighorn sheep and soaring eagles. Then visit Canyonlands National Park and stop at Island in the Sky, a mesa resting on sheer sandstone cliffs over 1,000 feet above the surrounding terrain offering a breathtaking panorama.   • DAY 4 Arches National Park excursion Visit Arches National Park, home to over two thousand natural sandstone arches including the famous Double Arch. Journey along Scenic Drive, making stops to view some of the park’s most striking features. This afternoon, those with a sense of adventure might want to join an optional Hummer tour through Moab’s incredible red rock backcountry or perhaps join an optional jet boat ride on the great Colorado River, where you learn about the geology, wildlife, and culture of Moab and the river.   • DAY 5 Moab – Telluride – Mesa Verde National Park Stop in Telluride, a fashionable mountain resort with a rich Victorian heritage, located in the stunning San Juan Mountains. Enjoy time at leisure to browse the local shops and galleries, or simply relax at an outdoor café and enjoy the fresh mountain air. This afternoon stop in Dolores to visit the Anasazi Heritage Center and learn about the people who once inhabited the Colorado Plateau. Arrive at the Far View Lodge, spectacularly situated inside Mesa Verde National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • DAY 6 Mesa Verde National Park – Durango (2 nights)
    Tour some of the best archeological sites in the U.S. From 600AD through 1300AD people lived and flourished in communities throughout the area, building elaborate “cliff dwellings” – stone villages built inside the sheltered alcoves of the canyon walls. Later, head for the frontier town of Durango, one of the last great cowboy towns left in the Southwest. This evening, as an option, perhaps join a fun stagecoach ride into a secluded canyon, followed by a cowboy dinner. (Full Breakfast)

You’ll be charmed by its narrow, winding streets, 400 year old adobe buildings, world-renowned galleries, quaint boutiques and inviting restaurants, situated just outside your hotel door. Traveling north, arrive in Colorado Springs, located at the foot of one of America''s most famous landmarks, Pikes Peak, upon the summit of which Katharine Lee Bates was inspired to write America the Beautiful. Look up and you might see the Air Force Academy’s famous parachute team, “The Wings of Blue” or catch a glimpse of F-16s training above. This evening, head for Seaport Village, a 14-acre waterfront entertainment complex, recreating a harborside setting of a century ago with meandering cobblestone pathways bordered by ponds, lakes, fountains and colorful, lush landscaping.   • Day 2 - Chicago – St. Louis We learn about Chicago on our orientation tour viewing the famous Lakeshore Drive, the Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier. Our next stop is Springfield, capital of Illinois and final resting place of Abraham Lincoln. We stop and pay our respects at Lincoln''s Tomb. Later, we arrive in St. Louis for an orientation tour of the city including views of the famous Gateway Arch. This evening we enjoy a dinner cruise on the Mississippi River.   • Day 3 - St. Louis – Meramec Caverns – Branson (2 nights) We start the day with a visit to the historic Anheuser Busch Brewery. We follow the journey of how beer is produced, visit the famous Budweiser Clydesdales paddock and stables, beechwood aging cellars, historic brewhouse and packaging plant, and taste fine beers and malt beverage products. Later we explore some of the rarest and largest cave formations at the Meramec Caverns and then travel into the heart of the Ozark Mountains to Branson, the all-American musical extravaganza and entertainment mecca of the Midwest.     After breakfast at Mike Radford''s Remember When Veteran''s Café, we stop at Precious Moments Park, nestled in the rolling foothills of the Ozark Mountains. We then travel along some of the best-preserved sections of Route 66 as we pass through Eastern Oklahoma. Outside of Tulsa we visit the Will Rogers Memorial Museums, dedicated to one of America''s most beloved celebrities. We then arrive in Oklahoma City where we stop at the Oklahoma City Memorial, commemorating the 1995 bombing of the Federal Building. This evening, we are taken to the restored Bricktown district for dinner. (Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

  • Day 6 - Oklahoma City – Route 66 Museum – Amarillo This morning we visit the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Museum whose mission is "to preserve and interpret the heritage of the American West for the enrichment of the public." Then we continue to Clinton and visit the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum where we experience the history and culture of each decade of the great Route 66. As we enter Texas, we''re back on Route 66 for some famous picture stops along the Mother Road and arrive in the city of Amarillo. (Full Breakfast)

  • Day 7 - Amarillo – Albuquerque (2 nights) After making a short photo stop at the "pop art" sculpture known as Cadillac Ranch, we leave Texas and enter New Mexico. We arrive in Albuquerque for a two-night stay. Albuquerque is the largest city in New Mexico and owes its explosive growth to the economic boom that Route 66 brought to the city during the golden age of the Mother Road. We cruise along Albuquerque''s Route 66, now Central Avenue, with its architecture typical of the Route 66 era. We stop at the famous 66 Diner, where we step back four decades and may be tempted by the delicious shakes and pies. This evening, we experience Southwestern flavors at a local restaurant.   • Day 8 - Albuquerque sightseeing & at leisure This morning, we wander through historic Old Town Albuquerque.   • Day 9 - Albuquerque – Sky City Acoma Pueblo – Winslow Our first stop this morning is at Sky City Acoma Pueblo, where we are taken on a guided tour by one of the residents. The oldest continuously inhabited community in North America, this mesa-top village is known worldwide for its unique art and profoundly rich culture. Arriving in Arizona we travel through the amazing landscapes of the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park. From here we make our way to one of the famous historic Route 66 resorts, La Posada, where each room is named after a former celebrity guest. Dinner tonight in served in the celebrated Turquoise Room. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 10 - Winslow – Navajo Reservation – Grand Canyon National Park This morning we travel north into the Navajo Indian Reservation. After a stop at
    the historic Cameron Trading Post, we travel along the canyon’s scenic Desert
    View Drive taking in the ever-changing vistas. We overnight inside the national
    park, allowing plenty of time to explore this natural wonder. (Full Breakfast)

  • Day 11 - Grand Canyon – Kingman – Las Vegas This morning, we have the unique option of viewing the Grand Canyon from the air - either by plane or helicopter! We then enjoy some of the original parts of Route 66 as we stop at the historic towns of Seligman and Kingman, before crossing the Colorado River into Nevada. Today''s journey ends with an afternoon arrival in Las Vegas where there''s time to enjoy the casinos, shows and all-night entertainment. (Full Breakfast)

  • Day 12 - Las Vegas – Hollywood – Los Angeles Today it''s back on a portion of Route 66 at Barstow and then on to Los Angeles. Along the way we enjoy some of the sights of Los Angeles, including a stop in Hollywood to view the famous Hollywood Sign, Walk of Fame and Grauman''s Chinese Theatre. We then drive along Sunset Boulevard, through Beverly Hills and all the way to the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica, where there is time to wander around.
