Airport Transfers
Arrival transfers from Edinburgh Airport on Day 2 will be provided at 8.45 and 12 noon. On Day 8 outbound transfer to Glasgow Airport will arrive at 7.00 and 9.00 and to Edinburgh Airport to arrive at 10.30.

  • Day 1- Depart USA Overnight flight to Edinburgh.

     
  • Day 2 - Arrive Edinburgh (2 nights) You will be transferred to your hotel in Edinburgh. Time perhaps for some tea and shortbread, before our Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and travelling companions.

  • Day 3 - Edinburgh sightseeing & at leisure Our morning sightseeing visits the Castle and views Holyrood House and Arthur’s seat. We’ll also visit the Royal Mile and the ‘New Town’, view the Scottish Parliament and drive along Princes Street. Later you may wish to take an excursion to the Rosslyn chapel recently brought to notoriety by the ‘Da Vinci Code’. During the Festival, we''ll include tickets to the dazzling Edinburgh Tattoo. This evening, why not enjoy a Scottish night out? (Full Breakfast)

     
  • Day 4 - Edinburgh – Inverness (2 nights) We start with a drive over the Firth of Forth to St. Andrews, home of the famous golf course. Time to take a picture at the 18th hole and see the ecclesiastical ruins in town before continuing via Dundee and Perth to charming Pitlochry. Then we see Blair Castle and visit a famous whisky distillery en route to Culloden Moor, scene of the defeat of Bonnie Prince Charlie. Finally, we arrive in Inverness for two nights.   • Day 5 - Highlands & Isle of Skye Excursion Today our Tour Director will share the secret of a Hidden Treasure with us! We drive along the banks of Loch Ness and stop at Urquhart Castle to see if we can spot ‘Nessie’. Then along the shores of Loch Cluanie through Glen Shiel. Next we visit Eilean Donan Castle before crossing the Kyle of Lochalsh to the Isle of Skye. We admire the beauty of the Cuillin Mountains before returning to the mainland to travel via Loch Carron and Achnasheen back to Inverness. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

     
  • Day 6 - Inverness – Glasgow (2 nights) We drive past Fort William viewing Britain''s highest peak, Ben Nevis, en route to Glencoe. We will see the Clan Memorial before a drive along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond to Glasgow. (Full Breakfast)

  • Day 7 - Glasgow orientation and Lowlands Excursion We enjoy a tour of Glasgow visiting St. Mungo’s Cathedral and viewing Clydeside, the City Chambers and George Square. Then we drive out to Alloway to see where the famous Scottish poet Robbie Burns was born. Afterwards we visit Culzean Castle and country park before we head back to Glasgow. Tonight we enjoy a Farewell Dinner together with our Tour Director. (Full Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)

  • Day 3 - Dublin sightseeing & at leisure After a hearty Irish breakfast, our sightseeing tour with a local guide takes in this ''fair city''s'' highlights. We’ll see Phoenix Park and enjoy views of Dublin Castle and St. Patrick''s Cathedral - and our highlight will be a visit of Trinity College so that we can admire the ancient Book of Kells.   • Day 4 - Dublin – Kildare – Waterford Today''s first stop is a visit to the Irish Stud Farm at Kildare. With a guide we will enjoy a walking tour of the Stud and see some of the country''s finest thoroughbreds. We will also visit the Japanese gardens – designed by a Japanese landscape artist at the turn of the last century. Next off to the coast of this Emerald Isle and to the seaside resort of Waterford where we see the 12th century Reginald''s Tower and stop to visit the Waterford Crystal showrooms.   • Day 5 - Waterford – Blarney – Kenmare (2 nights) This morning''s drive takes us along the scenic coast via the fishing village of Youghal where Moby Dick was filmed and through the city of Cork to Blarney, where we visit the castle in order to kiss the stone and acquire ''the gift of the gab''! Finally, we drive north to Kenmare where we will spend the next two nights. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 6 - Ring of Kerry Excursion Not only spectacular scenery today but also a Hidden Treasure will be revealed to us by our Tour Director as we tour the ''Ring of Kerry''. Plunging cliffs, glassy lakes, granite mountains and jagged coastlines regale us as our trip passes Killorglin (of Puck Fair fame), Daniel O''Connell''s Cahirciveen, the fishing village of Waterville and Moll''s Gap before returning to Kenmare and our hotel for the night.   • Day 7 - Kenmare – Limerick – Galway – Ballina North via Limerick where the film ''Angela''s Ashes'' was set and where we see St. Mary''s Cathedral, King John''s Castle and the Treaty Stone. From here we visit the Cliffs of Moher and drive across the scenic area known as the Burren to Galway Bay where an orientation includes the city''s highlights. Then we head north to Ballina and our hotel for dinner and overnight. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 8 - Ballina – Londonderry – Letterkenny (2 nights) First we see Yeats’ grave in Drumcliff before crossing the border into Northern Ireland and along the shores of Lough Erne to Enniskillen in Ireland’s lake district. Then up to Omagh where we stop to visit the Ulster-American Folk Park. Next via Strabane we soon reach Londonderry/Derry where a walking tour with a local guide takes us to the city walls, some of the best-preserved in Europe. We also visit the 17th century St. Columb''s Cathedral with its tower before heading to the Derry Craft Village and on to the quay where Irish emigrants sailed to the New World.   • Day 9 - Giant''s Causeway Excursion Our day begins with a drive along beautiful Antrim Coast road as we make our way to Giants Causeway. Here we stop to see the basalt columns rising from the sea before we make our way back to Letterkenny for the night. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

     
  • Day 10 - Letterkenny – Belfast – Glasgow (2 nights) Today''s drive takes us to the capital of Northern Ireland, Belfast. Here our sightseeing tour shows us Stormont Castle, the City Hall and Queen''s University before heading to the port of Larne, where we board our ferry for the sea crossing to Stranraer in Scotland. Then we drive through Ayrshire, where we stop in Alloway to see the great poet Robbie Burn’s cottage, before arriving in Scotland''s commercial capital, Glasgow for a leisurely two-night stay. Tonight we will enjoy a typical Glaswegian dinner in a characteristic restaurant. (Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

  • Day 11 - Glasgow orientation & at leisure Another Hidden Treasure is revealed today by your Tour Director. But first our orientation tour includes a visit to St Mungo’s Cathedral and views of the City Chambers and George Square.   • Day 12 - Glasgow – Fort William – Isle of Skye We drive along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, then through Glencoe, site of the famous massacre. Then along the shores of Loch Linnhe in the shadow of Ben Nevis and over the sea to Skye, made famous by Bonnie Prince Charlie. We spend the night and have dinner on this beautiful isle.   • Day 13 - Isle of Skye – Loch Ness – Inverness – Culloden – Scottish Highlands (Aviemore) Through Glen Shiel to the banks of Loch Ness where we can look out for the famous monster! Past the ruins of Urquhart Castle and romantic scenery, we reach Inverness. Then we continue to visit the battlefield of Culloden, where Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated by Butcher Cumberland, to the ski resort of Aviemore. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 14 - Scottish Highlands (Aviemore) – Pitlochry – Edinburgh (2 nights) Through the Cairngorm Mountains to visit a whisky distillery before seeing Blair Castle and Pitlochry. Then we stop in St. Andrews to see the ecclesiastical ruins and to take a picture at the 18th hole of the famous golf course. Then through the Kingdom of Fife to the Forth Bridge where we cross the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh. (Full Breakfast)

We also visit Princes Street and see the new Scottish Parliament before free time – perhaps to take an excursion to the Rosslyn Chapel, long associated with the Knight Templars and the Freemasons, this pretty church has come to notoriety through the popular ‘Da Vinci Code’. Airport Transfers
Arrival transfers from Edinburgh Airport on Day 2 will be provided at 9.00 and 13.00. On Day 14 transfers to Glasgow Airport will arrive at 7.00 and 9.00 and to Edinburgh Airport arriving at 10.30.

  • Day 3 - Edinburgh sightseeing & at leisure Our morning sightseeing tour visits Princes Street, the New Town and the Royal Mile plus a trip to the Castle for a guided visit of the apartments and views of Holyrood House, former residence of Mary Queen of Scots, as well as Arthur’s seat. You may wish to join in an excursion to visit the Rosslyn Chapel – made famous by the ‘Da Vinci Code’. During the Festival, tickets for the Edinburgh Tattoo are included. (Full Breakfast)

     
  • Day 4 - Edinburgh – Excursion to the Borders First along the coast to the seaside resort of North Berwick which is popular for its beaches and golf courses. Then to Jedburgh with its impressive 12th century ruined Abbey. We have the chance to visit the woollen mills before continuing to Melrose where we see the Abbey which is said to contain the casket wherein lies the heart of Robert the Bruce. Finally, we follow the valley of the river Tweed back to Edinburgh. (Full Breakfast)

     
  • Day 5 - Edinburgh – St. Andrews – Glamis Castle – Aberdeen Our Tour Director will reveal a Hidden Treasure to us today! But first we cross the Forth Bridge to St Andrews famous golf course. We take a picture at the 18th hole before continuing via Dundee to visit Glamis Castle – childhood home of the late Queen Mother. Then we head to our hotel at Aberdeen with a late afternoon arrival. This evening, we will enjoy a dinner of Scottish cooking in a local restaurant. (Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

  • Day 6 - Aberdeen – Scottish Highlands (Laggan) Today''s drive takes us through classic Scottish landscapes along the valley of the River Dee. From here, we drive past Ballater and Royal Balmoral Castle through the rugged Cairngorm Mountains to Speyside. On our arrival we enjoy a visit to one of the famous whisky distilleries to learn how Scotland''s national drink is made. Next, we head to our hotel in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.   • Day 7 - Scottish Highlands (Laggan) – Thurso (2 nights) This morning we''re off to Culloden Moor, scene of the 1746 defeat of the Stuarts. Then via Inverness we stop to visit the Dunrobin Castle, ancestral home of the Dukes of Sutherland. Time to stroll in the formal gardens before heading to our hotel in Thurso for dinner and our overnight stay. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 8 - Orkney Islands Excursion We board a ferry today from John O''Groats to South Ronaldsay where we overlook Scapa Flow and visit the Italian Chapel. We move on to Scara Brae to see the remains of a Neolithic village, before passing the pre-history Ring of Brodgar to Viking Kirkwall. Late afternoon, we reboard our ferry back to the mainland and Thurso. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

     
  • Day 9 - Thurso – Isle of Skye We enjoy a drive through stunning and unspoilt landscapes along the northern coastline with its sandy beaches. Then further inland to misty valleys and glens, lochs and rushing waters before our arrival in Ullapool on Loch Broom. More scenic wonders as we head to the Kyle of Lochalsh where we cross over the sea to Skye. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 10 - Isle of Skye – Eilean Donan Castle – Loch Ness – Ballachulish (2 nights) We drive past Eilean Donan Castle through Glen Shiel and along the shores of Loch Cluanie. On through Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness to Fort William, glimpsing Ben Nevis, Britain''s highest mountain. Next, to Glencoe to see the site of the famous 1692 massacre and to beautiful Ballachulish for our two-night stay. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 11 - Mull & Iona Excursion After a short drive this morning we will board our ferry at Oban and cruise across the mouth of Loch Linnhe to Craignure on the Isle of Mull. From here we drive to Fionnphort for a short sea crossing to the island of Iona. On arrival we visit the Cathedral before returning to Oban. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

     
  • Day 12 - Ballachulish – Glasgow (2 nights) Today we travel via Tyndrum to the beautiful scenery of Loch Lomond. Here there''s time for a picture-stop or maybe to take a cruise on the Loch. Later, we arrive at Glasgow for two nights. On arrival an orientation tour of this – the largest Scottish city – includes George Square, Clydeside, the City Chambers and a visit of St Mungo’s Cathedral. Then time at leisure for shopping.   • Day 13 - Robert Burns Excursion Today we head into ''Robbie Burns'' country to visit Culzean Castle and enjoy its beautiful grounds. We stop at Inverary to visit the castle which was the home of the Dukes of Argyll – the senior branch of the Campbell Clan.
