  • Day 2 - Salt Lake City – Jackson Put on your cowboy hats, pull up your boots, and get ready to create memories that will last a lifetime. Heading north, skirt the Great Salt Lake and enter Wyoming for your first encounter with the mighty Rocky Mountains. Follow trails blazed by rugged mountain men centuries ago as you explore sweeping valleys and high mountain passes. Cross the famous Oregon Trail and follow the historic Snake River to the authentic Old West town of Jackson. Passing through the town’s famous landmark arch of tangled elk antlers, walk back into history as you explore the Town Square with its western boardwalks, craft shops and ice cream parlors—all surrounded by the majestic Rockies. Come nightfall enjoy a special treat: a western-style chuckwagon dinner and show. (Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

  • Day 3 - Jackson – Grand Teton National Park – Yellowstone National Park (2 nights) This morning, as an option, perhaps rollick down the Snake River on a fun and educational wilderness float trip. Later, continue north along the dramatic Grand Teton National Park mountain range and into the world’s first national park: the world-famous Yellowstone. This is truly a wonderland of over 10,000 geysers, fumaroles, hot springs, mud pots and steam vents—highlighted with a visit to Old Faithful, which has been faithfully spouting steam water every hour for thousands of years. At the Visitor Center, learn amazing facts about Yellowstone and kids have a bit of fun earning their Junior Ranger Badge. (Full Breakfast)

    Hotel: National Park Lodges

  • Day 4 - Yellowstone National Park Excursion Early morning is the best time to spy on some of the shy creatures that inhabit the forest. On a morning wildlife walk, search for the more than 60 species of mammals including bear, beaver, bison, marmot, elk and moose, as well as 200 species of birds. Your senses will be assaulted by the roar of steam, the thunder of a spectacular waterfall, the bellowing of bison, the smell of sulfur pools and awe-inspiring views at every turn—sights and sounds that make for an experience you’ll be talking about for years. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 5 - Yellowstone – Cody – Sheridan Leaving Yellowstone National Park, travel down, down, down into Shoshone Canyon and the rugged Absaroka Mountains until you reach the rustic, charming Old West town of Cody, named after Buffalo Bill Cody. Here, in the “Rodeo Capital of the World,” explore the enormous Buffalo Bill Historical Center and the world’s largest collection of western artifacts…perhaps witness a shootout next to the Irma Hotel…and poke around the Indian Village. Then, head west over the Bighorn Mountains to Sheridan, a city steeped in western history, surrounded by dramatic mountains and wide open spaces. (Full Breakfast)

    Hotel: Holiday Inn Sheridan

  • Day 6 -Sheridan – Deadwood – Keystone (2 nights) Ride east into the famous Black Hills where George Armstrong Custer and the 7th Cavalry discovered gold in 1874, sparking the last major Indian War on the Great Plains. In Deadwood, relive the times of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane and see where Wild Bill was shot while playing poker. Arriving in Hill City, board an authentic 1880 steam engine train and travel to Keystone at the base of Mount Rushmore. This evening watch the moving ceremonial lighting of its famous stone carvings before retiring to your hotel. (Full Breakfast)

    Hotel: White House Resort

  • Day 7 - Black Hills excursion Our first stop is Bear Country USA, a wildlife park featuring the world''s largest private collection of American Black Bear. Enjoy the leisurely 3-mile drive through this spectacular and unique wildlife park nestled on 250 acres. Then, there is time to walk-through the Wildlife Center where young and smaller animals frolic in their outdoor exhibits. Later, we visit Mt. Rushmore National Park. You may have seen pictures of Mt. Rushmore National Monument, but they pale in comparison to seeing this majestic site in person. It took 400 artisans 14 years to carve the 60-foot sculptures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt out of the mountain. Nearby at Thunderhead Mountain is the world’s largest sculpture: the Crazy Horse Memorial. A work in progress for over 50 years, it will measure 563 feet high and 641 feet wide when completed. Chief Crazy Horse himself never allowed any photographs of himself and was secretly buried in a hidden grave. The monument is dedicated to his spirit and the spirit of Native Americans. Then it’s off to The Holy Terror Miniature Golf Course for a golf tournament. Named after the last active gold mine in Keystone, the course will have you screaming “mulligan" as you putt around gold-flecked boulders, up steep hills, down through the mine slew and around the water wheel and bubbling stream. Returning to Keystone, there is time to relax or take a plunge in the hotel’s swimming pool. Come nighttime, join us for a farewell dinner. Toast to your adventures of the past week and share memories of your Wild West vacation that you’ll cherish for a lifetime. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 8 -Keystone – Depart Denver Follow the trail to old Fort Laramie, the best-known milepost on the Oregon Trail, where you can still see 150-year-old wagon wheel ruts cut deep into the soil by thousands of pioneers heading West. At the fort’s living history exhibits, gain a deeper understanding of the harsh and often unforgiving world of the pioneer family as they fought distance, geography and weather to reach Oregon…and the native tribes who gave their lives trying to prevent it. Your Wild West adventure ends at the Mile High city of Denver where stops are made at Denver International Airport or, if you’re extending your stay at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in the heart of Downtown Denver. (Full Breakfast)

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Arrive Phoenix – Scottsdale (2 nights) Howdy partner! After landing at Phoenix International Airport, you are whisked to the Trafalgar hotel in Scottsdale where you meet your Tour Director this afternoon. There is time to gussy up before meeting new friends at our 6:00pm Kick-off Party at the hotel.

    Hotel: Hilton Garden Inn Scottsdale

  • Day 2 - Scottsdale – Sedona – Williams As you drive through the Sonoran Desert, you arrive at Montezuma Castle National Monument. Some 800 years ago, the Sinagua Indians carved this 5-story apartment out of the cliff. Why they did so remains a mystery…as is their sudden disappearance. Next is picturesque Sedona where you saddle up for a rip-roarin’ 4WD Jeep adventure into spectacular Dry Creek Basin. At the old Van Deren Cabin, learn what it was really like to be a cowboy in the Old West. A drive through spectacular Oak Creek Canyon leads to historic Williams, named after famous mountain man “Old Bill” Williams. It’s also the last outpost on famous Route 66. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)

    Hotel: Holiday Inn

  • Day 3 - Williams – Grand Canyon Railway – Grand Canyon National Park Guard your wallets and purses! The infamous Cataract Creek Gang, as lowly a group of varmints that ever rode the range, has come to town to rob vacationers. But standing in their way is Marshall John B. Goodmore (the B stands for “B” good or “B” gone). Suddenly guns blaze and… you climb aboard the historic Grand Canyon Railway, passing through majestic Ponderosa pines, the high desert and the Kaibab National Forest. Listen to tall tales and folklore about the area, but keep your eyes peeled. This is still the Wild West, and low-down train robbers have been known to attack the train from time to time. Nothing on earth can prepare you for the Grand Canyon—one of the natural wonders of the world. You can take tons of photos, hike the Bright Angel Trail, listen to rangers or explore Grand Canyon Village. If you’re truly adventurous, take an optional helicopter or fixed-wing flight over the canyon for a once-in-a-lifetime eagle-eye view. As the sun sets, and shadows dance mysteriously in the Grand Canyon, join your Tour Director for an unforgettable walk along the rim. (Full Breakfast)

    Hotel: National Park Lodges

  • Day 4 - Grand Canyon – Monument Valley – Lake Powell Fred Grofé was so stunned by the spectacular beauty of the sunrise over the Grand Canyon, he wrote a symphony. But all you have to do is watch (and maybe hum). Drive along Desert View Drive, with jaw-dropping views of the Grand Canyon, before entering Navajo Country. Here you can browse the Historic Cameron Trading Post and shop for Southwest Native American art—including world-famous Navajo silver-and-turquoise jewelry. Next stop: the Code Talkers Exhibit at Kayenta. The Navajos were one of America’s greatest secret weapons in WWII. Because their coded messages were so vital to victory, GIs were ordered to protect the “Wind Talkers” with their lives. Monument Valley in southwest Utah is a favorite location for movie directors like John Ford. As you bounce along the valley floor in an open-air vehicle, you can almost see John Wayne leading a column of U.S. Cavalry along the magnificent buttes and mesas. The day ends at our lakeside resort at Lake Powell. Enjoy a fun-filled poolside pizza party and some well-earned relaxation. (Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

    Hotel: Lake Powell Resort

  • Day 5 - Lake Powell at leisure This is a free day to roam and explore. Optional activities include an exhilarating adventure gently floating down one of the most beautiful stretches of the Colorado Rive cruise on spectacular Lake Powell to Antelope Canyon or Rainbow Bridge take a guided tour to Glen Canyon Dam (and, perhaps, a scenic flight over the area) or enjoy the many aquatic activities at Lake Powell Marina. The choice is yours. (Full Breakfast)

  • Day 6 - Lake Powell – Zion National Park – Bryce Canyon National Park(2 nights) Prepare to be wonder-struck by the scenic drive to Zion National Park where the towering cliffs and massive canyon walls of Zion Canyon will take your breath away. As you ride on the park’s shuttle, see how the Virgin River painstakingly carved one of nature’s wonders. There is also time for optional activities… Enjoy hiking? There’s an easy hike to the Emerald Pools or a more strenuous hike to Angel’s Landing. Or rent a bike. Or watch Zion Canyon: Treasure of the Gods on the massive IMAX theater screen. Leaving Zion, drive along the Mount Carmel Highway for spectacular views of Zion Canyon, the Great Arch of Zion and the distinctive Checkerboard Mesa. Final stop is historic Ruby’s Inn in Bryce for the last two nights of your adventure. (Full Breakfast)

    Hotel: Ruby’s Inn

  • Day 7 - Bryce Canyon National Park sightseeing & at leisure Exploring Bryce Canyon is like entering a weird and eerie world unlike any you’ve ever seen, filled with pink, orange and red sandstone spires called, appropriately, “hoodoos.” Explore the rim of a great amphitheater, stopping at various look-outs to photograph a fantastic landscape of fairytale castles and cathedrals, highways and hideaways, all meticulously carved by Mother Nature. During the afternoon you’re free to follow your own interests with our optional activities. Perhaps saddle up with a genuine cowboy for a horseback adventure through Bryce’s red rock canyons or hike along the many trails and explore this other-worldly wonderland. Then don your cowboy boots and Stetsons for a final evening filled with good food and good conversation. Afterwards, mosey on over to the Bryce Canyon Country Rodeo to watch bronco busters and cowboys test their skills in a wild west competition. It’s an evening you won’t soon forget! (Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

  • Day 8 - Bryce – Depart Las Vegas Traveling down through the scenic Virgin River Gorge, make your way into southern Nevada and to fabulous Las Vegas, where the tour ends. A complimentary transfer takes you to Las Vegas International Airport or, if you’re extending your stay, to the Trafalgar hotel in Las Vegas. (Full Breakfast)

Please do not schedule any flights before 5.00pm
