Airport Transfers
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport Transfers will be provided on Days 2 and 9. Group transfers on arrival at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport will operate at 08.30, 11.00 and 13.30. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 08.00 and 11.30.
  • London Gateways: Transfers can be expensive, particularly between the Airport and central London. When you book your tour with Trafalgar your transfers to and from the airport are included. It''s that simple. Trafalgar has included a Free transfer to and from your airport and Central London.
  • Important – Please Note: Passengers will only be entitled to transfers to and from London Airports providing the following conditions are met:

  • Day 1- Depart USA Overnight flight to Paris

     
  • Day 2 - Arrive Paris On arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director and fellow travellers.

  • Day 3 - Paris - Rouen - Bayeux Our sightseeing tour includes the Champs ElysÈes, Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde, views of Notre Dame Cathedral and ascends to the second level of the Eiffel Tower. Then we drive to Montmartre where we take the funicular to the Place du Tertre, for a walking tour of the area in the shadow of the Sacre Coeur Basilica. Afterwards, we drive to Rouen, where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. From here we make our way to Honfleur and on to Bayeux for the night. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 4 - Bayeux - D-Day Landing Beaches - Mont St. Michel We visit the Tapestry Museum where the tapestry depicts the Battle of Hastings in 1066, the event which radically changed the history of both France and England for centuries. Then we visit the Landing Beaches of the 1944 campaign and the Omaha Military cemetery. Then on to Mont St Michel, where we visit the Benedictine Abbey. The first structure, a simple oratory, was built here in the 8th century by the Bishop of Avranches, and was subsequently expanded and enhanced with the addition of Romanesque and Gothic buildings. Later we enjoy dinner in our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 5 - Mont St. Michel - Loire Valley - Amboise (2 nights) Today our Tour Director will reveal to us the location of a Hidden Treasure! But first we travel to Angers via Chateau Gontier, then into the Loire Valley, renowned for its chateaux and wines, which we sample in Saumur, before continuing to Amboise. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 6 - Châteaux Excursion Today with a local guide, we will visit fairytale Chenonceau, Catherine de Medici''s ch‚teau. Next, on to Chambord to view the largest ch‚teau in the region, before returning to Amboise. Here we''ll visit the ch‚teau where Leonardo da Vinci, the greatest figure of the Renaissance, spent the last years of his life and where he finally died. Then back to our hotel for the rest of the day at leisure. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

     
  • Day 7 - Amboise - Chartres - Paris (2 nights) After breakfast, our first stop is at Chartres to visit the Cathedral. Here we stop to marvel inside at the beautiful stained glass rose window. From here we continue to the Palace of Fontainebleau, originally designed as a royal hunting lodge, but later one of the grandest of the royal country residences, particularly known for its magnificent gardens. Then we return to the glittering capital city, Paris, for the next two nights. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 8 - Paris at leisure Enjoy a full day at leisure. You may sightsee further or perhaps shop in the boutiques for next year''s fashions. Why not browse around the Left Bank and take a Seine cruise to view the beauty of Paris from a different perspective? Or perhaps visit the Musee díOrsay where the most important collection of the Impressionist paintings are found or maybe the Louvre Museum where one can still be mystified by the Mona Lisa. Later we will enjoy a celebratory Farewell Dinner together with our Tour Director and our new found friends. (Buffet Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)

  • Day 3 - Paris – Avignon An early start this morning as we drive along the ''Autoroute du Soleil'', past Auxerre and through the vineyards of Burgundy to the Rhône Valley. On arrival in Avignon we enjoy an orientation tour which shows us the impressive Palace of the Popes and the famous ruined Bridge straddling the River Rhone, the inspiration for the famous French song ''Sur le Pont d''Avignon''. Later we enjoy dinner at our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 4 - Avignon – Pont du Gard – Arles – Aix-en-Provence Watch out for a Hidden Treasure today! But first we see the Pont du Gard, then Les Baux–de –Provence village before we head to Arles. Here we see the Roman amphitheatre and Romanesque Cathedral and enjoy a guided walking tour of the city which has so many associations with the great artist, Vincent Van Gogh. Next on to the elegant city of Aix-en-Provence where we enjoy dinner in a local restaurant. (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

  • Day 5 - Aix-en-Provence – St. Tropez – Nice (2 nights) Today we drive through the scenic hills to the coast and the glitzy resort of St Tropez. Always a favourite with celebrities, both past and present, it first became famous during the time of Brigitte Bardot. We enjoy a boat trip to neighbouring Ste. Maxime before continuing to the capital of the Cote d''Azur, the city of Nice. Here this evening we enjoy a dinner of local specialities in one of the city''s many bustling restaurants. (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

  • Day 6 - Nice at leisure & Monte Carlo Excursion Our orientation includes a drive along the Promenade des Anglais, views of the Place Massena, the Old Town and the port. Then we take a truly scenic drive to visit the Principality of Monaco where we will visit Monte Carlo and have the chance to try our luck in one of the Casinos! (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 7 - Nice – Cannes – Lyon We drive through sophisticated Cannes, along the Boulevard de la Croisette, seeing the Film Festival Centre. Then we head inland and travel via Manosque and the Durance Valley to the town of Sisteron. We take an alpine route along the Col de la Croix to arrive in the second city of France, Lyon, which stands at the confluence of the Rhone and Saone rivers. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 8 - Lyon – Dijon – Paris (2 nights) Today we journey via the vineyards of Macon to the gastronomic city of Dijon, home to the Dukes of Burgundy and renowned for its mustard! We have time to shop for tasty souvenirs before we depart for Paris and our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 9 - Paris sightseeing & at leisure Our guided sightseeing tour today includes the ascent of the Eiffel Tower to the second level by elevator, where we have magnificent views across the whole city. We see the Champs Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde and Notre Dame Cathedral on the Ile de la Cite. Our main highlight will be a walking tour through the gardens of Les Invalides, where we visit the tomb of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Airport Transfers
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport Transfer is provided on Day 2 and Nice Airport Transfer is provided on Day 11. Group transfers on arrival at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport will operate at 08.30, 11.00 and 13.30. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Nice Airport at 07.00 and 09.30.
  • London Gateways: Transfers can be expensive, particularly between the Airport and central London. When you book your tour with Trafalgar your transfers to and from the airport are included. It''s that simple. Trafalgar has included a Free transfer to and from your airport and Central London.

  • Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Paris.

     
  • Day 2 - Arrive Paris (2 nights) On arrival at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport you are you are met at the specified times and transferred to your hotel. After check-in there''s time to relax or perhaps explore the local area. Later we enjoy a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and fellow passengers.

  • Day 3 - Paris sightseeing & at leisure On our guided sightseeing tour this morning we will see Notre Dame Cathedral, the Place de la Concorde, Champs ElysÈes and Arc de Triomphe. Next we will enjoy a walk through the gardens of Les Invalides to visit Napoleon''s tomb in the golden domed Church. Afterwards there is time at leisure. You may wish to visit the Louvre Museum or simply stroll along the boulevards and browse in the chic boutiques. This evening, you will have the opportunity to try out French cabaret. (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 4 - Paris – Champagne tasting – Beaune Our Tour Director shows us a Hidden Treasure today! First to Epernay in the heart of Champagne, where we will stop to visit the wine cellars and taste some of this celebratory drink. Then we pass by Dijon as we drive through the Burgundy vineyards to the quaint, medieval town of Beaune with its 13th century walls and myriad wine cellars. This evening we will sample some Burgundy wine before dinner at our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 5 - Beaune – Montélimar – Avignon – Marseille (4 nights) This morning after breakfast our journey takes us past the vineyards of Macon and Beaujolais and the valley of the river RhÙne to Montelimar where we have time for lunch and to shop for delicious nougat. Then we enjoy looking at the sheer variety and quality of the produce at the ProvenÁal open-air market where we will purchase the food we will need for the lunch we will be preparing tomorrow. Then south to Avignon, where on our arrival an orientation tour shows us the Papal Palace and the celebrated broken bridge straddling the mighty Rhone. We continue to the Mediterranean port of Marseille, with an orientation tour on arrival, before continuing to our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 6 - Marseille - Provencal Culinary Experience in Peter Mayle''s ''Menerbes'' On our way to our village restaurant in the picturesque Luberon village of Menerbes, where we will cook lunch, our Tour Director will give us a lesson in French culinary terms to prepare us for our meeting with the French chef! Then we will adjourn to our restaurant kitchen, where, with the help of the chef, we will prepare a delicious lunch made with the fresh ingredients which we have purchased. We will be provided with copies of the recipes we have learnt to make so that we can repeat them at home, of course! We will also have time to explore Menerbes which has been classified as one of the prettiest villages in France, built on a promontory with stunning views over the Luberon and the Monts de Vaucluse. Later we visit the hilltop village of Gordes with a 16th century chateau before returning to Marseille. (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Lunch)

     
  • Day 7 - Marseille at leisure Today time at leisure to explore Marseille, named ëthe meeting place of the entire world by Alexandre Dumas. Maybe take a walk along La Canebiere, the bustling main boulevard or visit the morning fish market on the Quai des Belges. Your Tour Director will be able to suggest other excursions you may wish to join. (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 8 - Wine Estate & Aix en Provence Excursion This morning we drive to a wine estate where on our arrival we will enjoy a guided tour of the wine estate, taste some of the vintages and visit the gardens. A mouth-watering lunch of local specialities will be served to us in the courtyard of the wine estate, accompanied by the appropriate wines. On our return to Marseille we visit the beautiful city of Aix-en-Provence where we see the Cours Mirabeau, Place de la Rotonde and the elegant square of the Palace of Justice.   • Day 9 - Marseille - St Maximin - Cannes - Nice (2 nights) This morning after breakfast, we drive along the Aurelian Way to visit Saint Maximin-la-Ste-Baume, where, according to legend, the bones of St Mary Magdalene are buried in the Basilica. (Also suggested by the "Da Vinci Code"). Then on to sophisticated Cannes where we see the Film Festival Centre on the Boulevard de la Croisette.Time for a spot of lunch before we make our way to jet-set Nice where your evening is at leisure for personal activities. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 10 - Nice orientation – Monte Carlo Excursion After breakfast this morning, we enjoy an orientation of this stylish city on the mini-trainí which includes the Promenade des Anglais, the Place Massena and the old town. Then it takes us up to the chateauí park for awe-inspiring views over the whole city and the beautiful Bay of the Angels. Later, we will drive to Monaco where we visit Monte Carlo and its casinos! Tonight, we all enjoy a Farewell Dinner together. (Buffet Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)

     
  • Day 11 - Nice - USA Our Tour Director takes us to the airport on our final day. Time to bid farewell to new-found friends and enjoy reflecting on your French experience on your return flight to America. (Buffet Breakfast)

Here we sample some of the regional wines at one of the local wine cellars before we head to Lyon for the night. Tonight, why not try out some of the gourmet specialities for which Lyon is justifiably famous? (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 4 - Lyon – Avignon – Nice (2 nights) – Monte Carlo Excursion Our Tour Director will show us a Hidden Treasure today! But first to Avignon where we see the Papal Palace and famous bridge. Then through the Provence of Van Gogh and Cezanne to Nice. Later enjoy dinner in a local restaurant before visiting the Principality of Monaco to see the famous Monte Carlo casinos!

Here we will see the Basilica on top of St. Bernadette''s grotto en route to Biarritz. There''s time for a walk along the beach before we reach our hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
