Airport Transfers
Helsinki Airport Transfers will be provided on Days 2 and 16. Group transfers on arrival at Helsinki Airport will operate at 10.00, 14.00, 16.00 and 17.30. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Helsinki Airport at 07.00 and 12.00.

  • Day 2 - Arrive Helsinki On arrival at Helsinki Airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon after check-in there''s time to relax and unwind. This evening, we will enjoy a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and fellow travelling companions.

  • Day 3 - Helsinki – St. Petersburg (3 nights) This morning it''s an early departure for our journey into Russia, passing the timber centre of Kotka. Then the forests of Karelia lead to the former city of the Tsars, St. Petersburg. This evening we will enjoy complimentary champagne with dinner, after maybe visit a theatre for a Russian folklore show. (Scandinavian Breakfast / Dinner)

Then our journey takes us on to Klin, once home of Tchaikovsky, before arriving in Moscow for the first night of our three-night stay.   • Day 10 - Moscow – Smolensk – Minsk Today we follow in the steps of Napoleon''s retreating army in 1812, passing Borodino and making a stop at Smolensk for an included lunch. Then we''re off to the border between Russia and the Independent State of Belarus en route to Minsk. Here an orientation shows us the Hero''s Hill Memorial as well as other highlights of this city. Tonight, we enjoy a dinner of traditional cuisine at our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

  • Day 11 - Minsk – Vilnius This morning via Osm''any we head toward the border with Lithuania, then on to the capital, Vilnius. Our guided walking tour takes in views of the Bishop’s Palace (now the Presidential Palace) and the University. We also visit the Baroque church of St Peter and St Paul which has exceptional sculptural decoration. Then we walk to the Gates of Dawn, the Carmelite church of St Theresa, the former Jewish Ghetto, the Cathedral and new Royal Palace excavations. We will also see the Church of St Anna and the site of the Synagogue destroyed by Hitler in the last war. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 12 - Vilnius – Siauliai – Riga (2 nights) After breakfast we depart from Vilnius with our first stop being a visit to Siauliai and the ''Hill of Crosses'' – symbol of resistance against Soviet occupation. Later, we arrive at the Latvian border and onto ancient Riga, Latvia''s capital – made famous by the stories of Baron von Münchausen. Dinner is at our hotel tonight. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 13 - Riga sightseeing & at leisure We tour this city in the shadow of the 14th century castle of the Livonian knights, with a local guide. We visit St. John''s Church and the Dom Cathedral dating back to the 13th century, and see the State Art Museum. Riga has long been one of the most thriving cities on the Baltic – within the extensive Old Town are narrow medieval streets, Gothic and Baroque Churches, 19th century municipal buildings and Hanseatic warehouses, which we will see on the walking section of our sightseeing tour as well as the Tris Braili where we may admire the medieval architecture. Later, there''s free time for further exploration of the city before dinner at our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

     
  • Day 14 - Riga – Tallinn Today''s drive takes us along the Gulf of Riga and into Estonia. Then we travel via Parnu, a popular vacation resort of sandy beaches, as we head to the Estonian capital Tallinn for the night. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 15 - Tallinn sightseeing – Helsinki Our morning sightseeing tour in this pretty town explores the beautifully preserved streets of the old Hanseatic Quarter with its ancient battlements and the 15th century Luhike Jalq Gate. We also visit the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the old Town Hall, before we board our ship for the sea-crossing to Helsinki in Finland. On our arrival this evening sightseeing reveals Finlandia Hall, the Senate and Market Squares, broad boulevards and domed Russian church. Tonight we get together with our Tour Director and fellow travellers for a Farewell Dinner. (Buffet Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)

  • Day 3 - Copenhagen sightseeing and at leisure The Little Mermaid, Renaissance Stock Exchange, the Royal Amalienborg Palace and Christiansborg Palace all feature on morning sightseeing.   • Day 4 - Copenhagen – Stockholm This morning we leave Denmark’s cosmopolitan capital and cross the Oresund to the forests and meadows of Småland. Then we travel past Lake Vättern and enjoy views of the Brahehus Castle en route to the Swedish capital, Stockholm. Tonight, perhaps enjoy a candlelit dinner on the island of Djurgården.(Scandinavian Breakfast)

  • Day 13 - Moscow – Smolensk – Minsk This morning we pass Borodino, site of Napoleon’s great defeat, have lunch near Smolensk and then cross the border into Belarus. Soon we arrive in Minsk for a guided tour, showing us Leninsky Prospekt and Victory Square. Dinner and overnight. (Buffet Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner)

  • Day 14 - Minsk – Brest Litovsk – Warsaw (2 nights) This morning we travel via the Pripet Marshes and the Plains of White Russia for lunch in Brest Litovsk. Then we cross the River Vistula to the Polish frontier and to Poland’s capital - Warsaw. Tonight why not enjoy a Chopin recital?(Buffet Breakfast/ Lunch)

  • Day 15 - Warsaw sightseeing and at leisure We experience a miracle of reconstruction and conservation on our morning sightseeing, which reveals the historic centre where much of the Old Town was rebuilt after the war. We also see the site of the Warsaw Ghetto as evoked in the recent Oscar-winning film ‘The Pianist’. This evening we enjoy dinner in a typical restaurant. (Buffet Breakfast/ Highlight Dinner)

Airport Transfers
Copenhagen Airport Transfers will be provided on Days 2 and 20. Group transfers on arrival at Copenhagen Airport will operate at 09.00, 12.00 and 15.30. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Copenhagen Airport at 08.30 and 11.30.

  • Day 3 - Copenhagen – Stockholm This morning we cross the Oresund to Sweden, and drive to beautiful Lake Vättern where we view the 17th century Brahehus Castle. From here we''re off to Stockholm with its cobbled streets and medieval buildings of the Old Town. (Scandinavian Breakfast)

  • Day 4 - Stockholm – At Sea The charms of this city unfold on our morning sightseeing tour which includes the Royal Palace and City Hall.   • Day 6 - Helsinki – St. Petersburg (3 nights) An early morning departure as we travel into Russia, passing the timber centre of Kotka. From here we continue our journey through the forests of Karelia to our hotel in St. Petersburg for our three-night stay. This evening, we will enjoy complimentary champagne with dinner, and then perhaps visit a theatre for a Russian folklore show. (Scandinavian Breakfast / Dinner)

During our stay we enjoy an included visit to the Hermitage Museum to visit one of the world''s largest and most valuable art collections set in the splendour of the Winter Palace.   • Day 10 - Tallinn sightseeing – At Sea Today''s sightseeing tour explores the beautifully preserved streets and buildings of the old Hanseatic Quarter and 15th century Luhike Jalg Gate. We visit the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and see the old Town Hall before time on your own perhaps to shop and sightsee further. Later, we drive to the port of Tallinn where we board our ship for the overnight mini-cruise from Estonia to Sweden. (Breakfast)

     
  • Day 11 - At Sea – Orebro – Hamar Relax on board as we sail across the Baltic Sea for a mid-morning arrival in Stockholm. A scenic drive brings us to medieval Orebro. Then into Varmland and along the banks of Lake Vänern past Karlstad, and on across the Norwegian border. We follow the Glomma River to Lake Mjøsa and beautiful Hamar.   • Day 12 - Hamar – Lillehammer – Geiranger (2 nights) This morning we make our way to Lillehammer, host to the 1994 Winter Olympics. Then on through the Gudbrandsal Valley, driving past the Jotunheimen Mountains, home of the Giants! Next we will visit a Stave Church at Lom, before beautiful scenic views near Dalsnibba Pass.   • Day 19 - Gothenburg – Copenhagen Gothenburg – Copenhagen This morning we will drive to Copenhagen where our afternoon sightseeing tour includes a walking tour through the area around the Amalienborg Palace – an elegant quarter of 18th century buildings. Then we will walk through the historic centre seeing the 17th century Stock Exchange, the Christiansborg Palace, the Cathedral and the 19th century Theatre Royal. Then, we''ll see the Little Mermaid – the statue inspired by Hans Christian Andersen''s fairy tale. Afterwards there''s time at leisure. You may wish to do some last-minute souvenir shopping or explore this city further. This evening we get together with our Tour Director and fellow travelling companions for a festive Farewell Dinner.
