Airport Transfers
Rome Fiumicino Airport departure Transfer will arrive at the airport at 07.00 and 09.30 on Day 10.

  • Day 1- Depart USA Overnight flight to London.

     
  • Day 2- Arrive London (2 nights) After checking into your Trafalgar hotel, the rest of your day is at leisure.

  • Day 3 - London sightseeing & at leisure Many major sights are included on our morning sightseeing tour. Then time at leisure. (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 4 - London – Paris (2 nights) First to Dover for our sea crossing to France. Then across Somme Battlefields to Paris where we enjoy a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and fellow travellers. (Continental Breakfast)

    Hotel: Pullman Paris La Defense (2 nights)

     
  • Day 5 - Paris sightseeing & at leisure Morning sightseeing with a local guide includes a drive along the Champs Elysées to the Arc de Triomphe and on to the Eiffel Tower, to ascend to the second level. Next we view Notre Dame Cathedral and then we are free to explore this enchanting city further or perhaps to take an excursion to the Louvre Museum to see the ‘Mona Lisa’ (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 6 - Paris – Lucerne An early start today as we drive through the Burgundy vineyards, seeing the castle of Châteauneuf. We continue past the remains of the Maginot line at Belfort to reach the Swiss border at Basel and on to the lakeside resort of Lucerne where orientation shows us the Chapel Bridge and Lion Monument. After dinner, perhaps take a walk along the lakeshore. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

    Hotel: Grand Hotel Europe

     
  • Day 7 - Lucerne – Florence After breakfast, maybe take a trip up a nearby mountain or shop for Swiss souvenirs. Later, we begin our drive via the Gotthard range into Ticino and cross Lake Lugano into Italy. Next we continue past Lake Como and Milan across the Lombardy Plain and the Apennine Hills. Soon we arrive in Tuscany and our hotel in Renaissance Florence. Tonight, we will enjoy dinner in a local trattoria. (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

  • Day 8 - Florence - Rome (2 nights) Our guided walking tour shows us the Cathedral, the Baptistery, Giotto’s Belltower, Signoria Square and visits Santa Croce church. Then time to shop for leather and gold, but also our Tour Director shows us a Hidden Treasure before we travel on to the ‘Eternal City’, Rome. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 9 - Rome sightseeing & at leisure Today on our guided sightseeing tour we visit St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican where we see the famous ‘Pieta’ by Michelangelo. Then we cross the Tiber to ancient Rome where we overlook the Forum, Colosseum and the Circus Maximus. Tonight we all enjoy a Farewell Dinner together. (Buffet Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)

  • Day 3 - London sightseeing & at leisure London sightseeing & at leisure Many major sights are included on our morning sightseeing tour, then time is your own. (Buffet Breakfast)
  • Day 4 - London - Amsterdam Greetings from our Tour Director before a scenic drive to the White Cliffs of Dover. Here we board our ferry for the short sea crossing to Calais in France. On our arrival we''ll continue by coach through Belgian countryside to Holland and Amsterdam, one of Europe''s friendliest cities. This evening, we join our Tour Director and fellow passengers for a Welcome Drink and then we board our glass-covered boat for our included canal cruise. (Continental Breakfast)

  • Day 5 - Amsterdam – Rhine Cruise – Heidelberg After an orientation tour of this city featuring the Mint Tower and Royal Palace we will visit a diamond-cutting and polishing factory, (opening times permitting). Later, we travel past Arnhem, en route to Cologne to see its magnificent Cathedral. Then via Bonn to the Rhine Valley where we embark on a Rhine cruise gliding past terraced vineyards and medieval castles. We disembark at St. Goar with views of the impressive Lorelei Rock before reaching beautiful Heidelberg where we will enjoy magnificent views over the University city from the castle terraces before having dinner in our hotel this evening. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 6 - Heidelberg – Black Forest – Rhine Falls – Lucerne (2 nights) Today we drive through the fairytale Black Forest where cuckoo-clocks were first invented, to Lake Titisee pausing to view the Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen. Next into Switzerland past geranium-covered wooden chalets to lakeside Lucerne for two nights. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 7 - Lucerne orientation & at leisure Our orientation of this medieval town includes a visit to the Lion Monument plus our Tour Director reveals a Hidden Treasure to us all in this charming town. Then time at leisure to take a mountain excursion or shop for Swiss watches and chocolate. Later, why not join in the fun of a Swiss Folklore show? (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
  • Day 8 - Lucerne – Paris (2 nights) This morning we head into France, passing Belfort and the remains of the Maginot Line. Then past the onion-domed churches of Montbeliard and we make a picture stop to view the vineyards at Savigny-Les-Beaune. Finally, we arrive in Paris with the chance to go to one of Europe’s finest cabaret shows tonight! (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 9 - Paris sightseeing & at leisure Our guided sightseeing includes views of the Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde and Notre Dame. Then we ascend to the second level of the Eiffel Tower for spectacular city views. Free time in the afternoon and tonight we enjoy a Farewell Dinner together with our new found friends. Airport Transfers
Transfers will be provided for passengers who have booked our Land+Air package. Group transfers on arrival at Rome Fiumicino Airport will operate at 09.30, 12.30 and 15.30.
  • London Gateways: Transfers can be expensive, particularly between the Airport and central London. When you book your tour with Trafalgar your transfers to and from the airport are included. It''s that simple. Trafalgar has included a Free transfer to and from your airport and Central London.
  • Important – Please Note: Passengers will only be entitled to transfers to and from London Airports providing the following conditions are met:
  • You are staying at a London hotel, booked by Trafalgar, on the night of your arrival and the night prior to the date of your departure.
  • Flights are either booked by Trafalgar or detailed information on flights is provided by your Travel Agent not less than 21 days prior to departure.
  • Only one included transfer both inbound and outbound per tour is included by Trafalgar. Transfers are by express train to a Central London Rail Station.
  • Heathrow Airport: Inbound transfers operate between 06.00-21.30. Outbound transfers are timed to connect with scheduled flights departing between 08.00-23.00. Transfers will be by coach. Gatwick Airport: Inbound transfers operate between 06.00-12.30. Outbound transfers are timed to connect with scheduled flights departing between 08.00-23.00. Transfers will be by express train and coach. Transfers outside these times will be at the passengers own expense.
  • In the event of unforeseen events (road or rail works, demonstrations, strikes) Trafalgar will not be held responsible for delayed or cancelled transfers.
  • No refund is available for passengers not utilising this service.
  • European Gateways: With Trafalgar all passengers will receive complimentary arrival and departure transfers on the scheduled arrival and departure day of their tour at the times specified below. Please ensure your Travel Agent reserves your flight to co-ordinate with the transfer times shown.
  • Trafalgar Bonus - Passengers who book Trafalgar''s Land+Air package and who arrive or depart outside of these specified times on the scheduled arrival and departure day of the tour will also be provided with a transfer.
  • Passengers arriving before or leaving after the scheduled tour days are not entitled to a transfer but may book and purchase one through Trafalgar providing that they also purchase the additional pre and/or post tour hotel night(s) from Trafalgar. Please ask for prices of transfers at the time of booking your extra night accommodation.
  • Land only passengers arriving or departing on the scheduled tour arrival or departure days but whose flights don''t coincide with the listed transfer times below may also book and purchase these transfers. Flight details must be provided to Trafalgar not less than 21 days before the flight departure.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Rome.
  • Day 2 - Arrive Rome (2 nights) On arrival at Rome Fiumicino Airport we transfer you to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director and fellow travellers.
    Hotel: Melia Aurelia Antica (2 nights)
  • Day 3 - Rome sightseeing & at leisure Today''s sightseeing, with our local guide and a special audio system, includes a visit to St. Peter''s Basilica where we see the moving Pieta by Michelangelo. We then cross the River Tiber where we overlook the Forum and see the mighty Colosseum and the Circus Maximus where the ancient sport of chariot racing took place. (Buffet Breakfast)
  • Day 4 - Rome – Venice (Marcon) Our journey this morning takes us by the medieval hilltop towns of Orvieto and Orte and the forested Apennine hills . Then we pass by Bologna as we reach the flat fertile Veneto plains and continue to our hotel where we dine tonight.

  • Day 5 - Venice sightseeing – Lake Maggiore Our canal cruise takes us to St Mark’s Square to see the renowned Bridge of Sighs and the impressive Ducal Palace. Then our Tour Director reveals a Hidden Treasure to us before we visit a glass–blowing workshop and then head for the magnificent Italian Lake District and Lake Maggiore. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 6 - Lake Maggiore – Lucerne This morning enjoy a scenic drive through the Gotthard range to lakeside Lucerne. On arrival we will visit the Lion Monument and have time to walk across the Chapel Bridge. Then maybe take a mountain excursion and still have time to shop for Swiss watches and delicious chocolate! (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 7 - Lucerne – Paris (2 nights) Today via Basel into France we pass Belfort and remnants of the Maginot Line. We stop to view the vineyards at Savigny-Lès-Beaune, passing Châteauneuf to Paris for our two-night stay. (Buffet Breakfast)
    Hotel: Pullman Paris Porte de Sevres / Pullman Paris La Defense (2 nights)
  • Day 8 - Paris sightseeing & at leisure Our morning sightseeing tour with a local guide includes views of Notre Dame Cathedral built on the Ile de la Cite and several of the bridges of Paris including the Pont Alexandre III. Then we will ascend the Eiffel Tower to the second level for wonderful views of the whole of the city before driving along the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe. Tonight we enjoy a Farewell Dinner with our Tour Director and fellow travellers in a local restaurant. (Buffet Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)
  • Day 9 - Paris - London (2 nights) This morning we leave Paris and head north, passing by the First World War battlefields of the Somme and with views of the memorial to the soldiers who died at the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Then to the Channel port of Calais where we take the ferry to Dover, where we are welcomed by the famous ‘White Cliffs’, and we drive on to London. Here we bid farewell to our Tour Director and newfound friends as our tour comes to an end. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 10 - London sightseeing & at leisure Many major sights are included on our morning guided sightseeing tour, including Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. The afternoon is at leisure to explore or to do some last minute shopping. (Buffet Breakfast)
  • Day 11 - London – USA Time to say goodbye to London as we transfer you to your London Airport for your return flight to America. (Buffet Breakfast)
