  • DAYS 1 & 2 Depart USA We fly over the international date line on our way to Cairns, Australia.
     
  • DAY 3 Arrive Cairns (6 nights) On arrival in Cairns you well be transferred to your hotel. Tonight enjoy a welcome drink with your Tour Director and fellow traveling companions before dinner at the hotel. (Dinner)

  • DAY 4 Kuranda Today board the famous Kuranda Railway at Freshwater Station. On arrival in Kuranda, there is free time to take a stroll through the famous Kuranda Markets. Return to the lowlands by the Skyrail Cableway. Visit the award-winning Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park and learn about this ancient culture through theatre, stage shows and demonstrations. (Buffet Breakfast)
     
  • DAY 5 Great Barrier Reef Join the Sunlover boat and cruise to Moore Reef. View magnificent coral and sea life through the windows of a special semi-submersible craft. There is the opportunity for swimming and snorkeling over the reef (equipment provided). Later enjoy a delicious included tropical buffet lunch. (Buffet Breakfast) (Highlight Lunch)
     
  • DAY 6 Cairns at leisure Enjoy a day at leisure in Cairns. There is an opportunity for an optional excursion today. Those seeking adventure may try white water rafting, horse riding or maybe even sky diving or chasing the elusive marlin on a fishing charter. Or why not chill out by the pool at your resort.   • DAY 7 Atherton Tablelands Climb the high tropical plateau known as the Atherton Tablelands, where lush rainforests, waterfalls and lakes abound. Enjoy a guided cruise with full commentary on the serene crater of Lake Barrine and watch for pelicans and other wildlife. View the famous Curtain Fig Tree and Millaa Millaa Falls.   • DAY 8 Cairns at leisure Enjoy a day at leisure. Perhaps take an excursion to Cape Tribulation and the spectacular rainforests of the Daintree National Park. An expert guide will take you on a walk and explain some of the fascinating secrets of one of the world''s oldest rainforests. You could also join a guided cruise on the Daintree River for an opportunity to spot the fearless saltwater crocodile! (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 1 - Depart Home Gateway City to Beijing
     
  • Day 2 - Arrive Beijing (2 nights) Arrive in Beijing and be greeted by a Trafalgar Tour Director who will escort you to your hotel.

  • Day 3 - Beijing Your guided tour takes you to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. Next, admire the Summer Palace, one of China’s largest and best-preserved imperial gardens. Indulge in a traditional Peking Duck dinner. (Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Highlight Dinner)
     
  • Day 4 - Beijing – Train to Irkutsk An unforgettable part of your adventure is the two-day train ride from Beijing to Irkutsk, Siberia. You will go through the Great Wall twice before reaching the Mongolian border and entering the Gobi Desert. Look for tents of nomadic Mongolians. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
     
  • Day 5 - Trans Mongolian/Siberian Express After a brief stop in Ulaanbaatar, continue north through everchanging scenery. The rolling steppes of Mongolia disappear as you enter an almost alpine world along the Selenga River that runs through Ulan Ude. (Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

  • Day 11 - Ulaanbaatar Remote and rarely visited, Mongolia is one of the most exotic countries in the world. Visit the Gandan Monastery and then continue to Turtle Rock in Gorkhi Terelj National Park. Enjoy a Horhog-Mongolian style barbecue in a camp, and then visit the Ger Museum of Terelj Lodge.   • Day 12 - Ulaanbaatar – Gobi Desert (2 nights) Fly to the Gobi Desert. Visit Eagle Valley National Park and travel through gorgeous mountain scenery, then see stunning Gobi Glacier and intriguing wildlife. With more than 300 types of flora and fauna, the Gobi is the last habitat for many endangered species, including the snow leopard. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

  • Day 13 - Gobi Desert Breeder’s Camp The Gobi Desert is not only a kaleidoscope of nature, but also a treasure chest of prehistoric discoveries. In Bayan Zag, you’ll explore the Cemetery of Dinosaurs, where the world’s best preserved skeletons of giant dinosaurs and petrified eggs were excavated. In the afternoon, learn first-hand about the nomadic lifestyle by visiting a camel breeder’s camp. (Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

  • Days 17 to 21 - Beijing - Yangtze Cruise and Shanghai Sail along the Yangtze’s most impressive section of the river, the famed Three Gorges. The river setting is captivating with rushing waters and vertical limestone cliffs perpetually enveloped in mist and clouds. Journey on a riverboat as it takes you through the enchanting and tranquil Lesser Three Gorges, and visit the largest dam in the world, the Three Gorges Dam. Then enjoy the splendors of Shanghai, a striking blend of Eastern and Western cultures and of the past and present. Stroll along the Bund and see Old Town with its winding alleys, shops, teahouses and restaurants.

  • Day 1 - Arrive Calgary Welcome to Calgary, gateway to the Canadian Rockies! A complimentary transfer is provided to the Trafalgar hotel. Your Tour Director is at the hotel this afternoon to greet you and answer your questions. Join us at 6:00pm for a Welcome Reception at the hotel. (Welcome Reception)

  • Day 2 - Calgary - Lake Louise We journey north to Banff National Park, in the heart
    of the Canadian Rockies, and explore three of North America''s most beautiful lakes. We start with Lake Louise, one of the most breathtaking settings in the world, where dark green forests frame the lake''s azure waters against a backdrop of dramatic snow-capped peaks. Enjoy a narrated promenade along the lakeshore and learn about the wildlife, nature and history of Lake Louise. Next is Moraine Lake, nestled in the dramatic Valley of the Ten Peaks. Marvel at the stunning scenery with jagged peaks reflecting on the tranquil waters of the lake. We then cross the Continental Divide through Kicking Horse Pass and enter Yoho National Park. See Natural Bridge, Spiral Tunnels and Emerald Lake, a jewel sparkling with the blue-green hue of an emerald. We end the day at our hotel in the nearby hamlet of Lake Louise. Dinner tonight is served at the Lake Louise Railway Station & Restaurant, a carefully restored historic train station offering a classic Canadian dining experience. (Full Breakfast, Highlight Dinner)

  • Day 3 - Lake Louise – Columbia Icefield – Jasper (2 nights) We travel northwest along the Great Divide and the spine of the Rockies on the world-famous Icefields Parkway, one of the world''s most spectacular mountain drives. Marvel at the unsurpassed scenery including subalpine forests, alpine meadows, massive glaciers and remarkable lakes. Keep an eye out for grizzly, black bear, moose, elk and other wildlife. At the Columbia Icefield, we board an Ice Explorer for the trip of a lifetime as we drive onto the massive Athabasca Glacier. We then follow the Sunwapta and Athabasca Rivers into the quaint township of Jasper, where we spend the next two nights. After dinner, we enjoy a fun and informative lecture by a local expert on the area''s abundant wildlife. (Full Breakfast, Dinner)

  • Day 4 - Jasper National Park sightseeing & at leisure We start the day with a narrated walk along Maligne Canyon, one of the most beautiful gorges in the Canadian Rockies. Marvel at the spectacular rock formations and waterfalls, and learn about one of Canada''s longest underground river systems. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to pursue your own interests. Activities abound in Jasper National Park, and your Tour Director will provide you with suggestions for optional excursions available to you. (Full breakfast)
     
  • Day 5 - Jasper – Icefields Parkway – Banff (2 nights) Snow-capped peaks, hanging glaciers, pounding waterfalls and surging rivers dominate the landscape as we retrace our steps on the Icefields Parkway on our way to Banff. Enjoy lunch at the beautiful Lodge of the Ten Peaks, before riding the Lake Louise Sightseeing Gondola. Capture the beauty of Lake Louise, glaciers, wildflowers and possibly even some wildlife. At the top, there are award-winning Interpretive Programs including indoor presentations on grizzly bears and themed guided walks. We end the day on arrival at the quintessential alpine village of Banff for our two-night stay. This evening, why not enjoy an entertaining musical celebration of Canada at the optional dinner theatre, Oh Canada Eh? (Full breakfast, Lunch)

  • Day 6 - Banff sightseeing & at leisure Our morning orientation tour introduces us to the best of Banff. The afternoon is at leisure in Banff for you to pursue your own interests. Optional activities include a helicopter flight over Mount Assiniboine, the Matterhorn of the Canadian Rockies, and a relaxing float trip down the beautiful Bow River.   • Day 7 - Banff - Rocky Mountaineer – Kamloops Travel aboard the Rocky Mountaineer train in your choice of RedLeaf or GoldLeaf Service, on a two-day independent daytime rail journey from Banff to Vancouver. Travel through the Spiral Tunnels, past the glaciers of Kicking Horse Pass, under Mount McDonald, and along the South Thompson River to Kamloops where you are transferred to your hotel. Meals: GoldLeaf: (Full breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

  • Day 2 - Arrive Beijing (3 nights) Arrive in Beijing and be greeted by a Trafalgar Tour Director who will escort you to the lovely Kempinski

  • Day 3 - Beijing Your first full day in Beijing takes in many of the major sites, such as the Forbidden City, a 250-acre complex of palaces, pavilions, courtyards and gardens, and historic Tiananmen Square. Visit the Summer Palace, one of China’s largest and best-preserved imperial gardens. In the evening, indulge in a traditional Peking Duck dinner. (Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Highlight Dinner)
     
  • Day 4 - Beijing Today, you’ll have the opportunity to walk along the Great Wall. From the 3rd century BC, the wall was built, rebuilt and maintained over thousands of years.   • Day 7 - Xi’an to Lhasa (3 nights) Fly to Lhasa, the heart, soul and capital of Tibet, with a fascinating history dating back more than 1,300 years.   • Day 8 - Lhasa See the early Buddhist Da Zhao Temple, embellished with Nepalese and Indian touches and capped by a golden canopy.   • Day 9 - Lhasa Tour Lhasa and marvel at the Potala Palace, perched atop the mountain. Gaze at the jewel collections and wander the chapels as pilgrims make offerings at the altars.   • Day 10 - Lhasa to Chongqing and Cruising the Yangtze River (3 nights) Take a morning flight to Chongqing, where you’ll take a tour of the city zoo for a panda visit.
