Airport Transfers
Munich and Zurich Airport Transfers will be provided on Days 2 and 12. Transfers on arrival at Munich Airport will operate at 10.00 and 13.00. Passengers arriving later should make their own way to the first hotel. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Zurich Airport at 08.00.
  • London Gateways: Transfers can be expensive, particularly between the Airport and central London. When you book your tour with Trafalgar your transfers to and from the airport are included. It''s that simple. Trafalgar has included a Free transfer to and from your airport and Central London.

  • Day 1- Depart USA Overnight flight to Munich.

     
  • Day 2 - Arrive Munich (2 nights) On arrival at Munich airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, there is time to relax or start to explore this fun-loving city. Later , we enjoy a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and fellow travelling companions.

  • Day 3 - Munich – Excursion to Dachau This morning we delight in a short orientation tour of this fun-loving city revealing its charm and elegance. On our walking tour of the city we’ll see the Hofbrauhaus, the Marienplatz and the famous Glockenspiel on Munich’s gothic Town Hall. We also include an excursion to nearby Dachau to visit the original SS training centre as well as the infamous Concentration camp. Later this afternoon, you may wish to visit one of the palaces or museums in the city or simply spend time in the ‘Englischer garten’ and sample some of the delicious beers for which Munich is justly famous. (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 4 - Munich – Prague (2 nights) This morning we drive to Regensburg on the Danube and then continue into the Czech Republic and the beer-brewing town of Pilsen. Later we arrive in the capital city, Prague, now vibrant and fashionable since the ‘Velvet Revolution’. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 5 - Prague sightseeing and at leisure Hradçany Castle, the Old Town Square and a visit to St. Vitus'' Cathedral all feature on our walking tour. Then our Tour Director will show us a Hidden Treasure of this intriguing city before we have time to explore on our own. (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 6 - Prague – Vienna (2 nights) This morning we travel via Brno and then to Lednice to visit the Italianate gardens of the Castle. Then it’s but a short drive to the musical city of Vienna where we enjoy dinner in a local restaurant tonight. (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

  • Day 7 - Vienna sightseeing and at leisure The Opera, Hofburg, Parliament, the Imperial Boulevards and more are all highlighted on our sightseeing tour. We will also enjoy a walking tour exploring the oldest part of the city and the Cathedral of St Stephen. Later, with time at leisure to relax or maybe sightsee further. Tonight, perhaps enjoy dinner at a nearby ''heurige'' wine village. (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 8 - Vienna – Venice (Mestre) (2 nights) Today a full day of scenic splendours await us. First leaving the Vienna Woods we travel across the great Alpine highway to the Carnian Alps and then into Italy and the region known as the Friuli before arriving on the flat Veneto plain and the magical water bound city of Venice – ‘la Serenissima.’ (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 9 - Venice sightseeing and at leisure Enjoy an excellent introduction on an included canal cruise by private launch to see St. Mark''s Basilica, the Doges'' Palace and Bridge of Sighs. A short stroll brings us to one of the oldest Murano glass workshops, where we will witness a demonstration of the ancient craft of glass blowing. Then time on your own. Why not take a relaxing gondola ride or sip a ''cappuccino'' in St. Mark''s Square. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

     
  • Day 10 - Venice (Mestre) – Lucerne (2 nights) Our first stop this morning is the pink marble city of the star-crossed lovers – Verona! Here we’ll see the 2 000 year old Roman arena as well as the courtyard where ‘Juliet’s ‘ balcony is located! Then via the fashion capital of Milan our drive takes us to lakeside Lugano where we enjoy an orientation tour of this Italian-speaking Swiss resort. Later, we continue our journey through the Gotthard Route via Bellinzona, to the lake of Lucerne. A scenic drive along the lake brings us to the place where the river Reuss enters the lake itself – the small city of Lucerne. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 11 - Lucerne orientation and at leisure This morning, orientation shows us the Lion Monument, Chapel Bridge and Jesuit church. Then you are free to perhaps take a trip by cable car or cogwheel train up a nearby mountain peak and later to shop in the traffic-free town for delicious Swiss chocolates and fine timepieces. This evening we’ll get together for a Farewell Dinner in a characteristic restaurant! (Buffet Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)

     
  • Day 12 - Lucerne – Zurich – USA Time to bid farewell as we transfer you to Zurich Airport for your return flight to America. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 3 - Vienna sightseeing & at leisure Our morning sightseeing tour with a local guide features the monuments and palaces of this musical city. The Imperial Boulevards lead us to the Opera House, the Hofburg Palace, the Parliament and St. Stephen''s Cathedral. Our walking tour takes us into the oldest parts of the city near ‘Am Hof’. Later, free time perhaps to indulge in some Sachertorte and cream in a tempting pastry shop. Or why not take an excursion to Maria Theresa von Hapsburg''s favourite palace – the Schönbrunn, with its delightful fountains and gardens? This evening we enjoy a dinner together in a local restaurant. (Buffet Breakfast/ Highlight Dinner)

     
  • Day 4 - Vienna Woods Excursion Our local expert takes us on a scenic drive into the nearby Vienna Woods where we stop to see Mayerling, and the hunting lodge where Crown Prince Rudolph and his young mistress died in 1898. We also stop at Heiligenkreuz to visit the Abbey of the Holy Cross. Then there''s time at leisure, perhaps to window-shop in Kärtnerstrasse or visit a museum. (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 5 - Vienna – Salzkammergut – Salzburg (2 nights) We drive along the Valley of the River Danube past Melk, where we see Austria''s greatest baroque monastery. From here we continue along the Danube Valley to the area known as the Salzkammergut. At Gmunden, with its beautiful Lake Château, we enjoy a tranquil and scenic drive along the shores of the Traunsee and Attersee, the largest lake in the Austrian Alps, to the Mondsee Lake. We stop in the village to see the Church where the marriage of Captain Von Trapp and Maria was filmed for "The Sound of Music". Finally we reach the sugar-icing city of Salzburg for two nights. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 6 - Salzburg sightseeing & at leisure Today''s morning walking tour with a local guide shows us the Getreidergasse with it''s colourful shops, the majestic Cathedral and many of the locations used in the film, "The Sound of Music", as well as the birthplace of the great composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Later, you may wish to relax in one of the delightful coffee-houses or to shop in the chic boutiques. We will enjoy dinner at our hotel this evening.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

     
  • Day 7 - Salzburg – Berchtesgaden – Innsbruck This morning after breakfast it''s only a short drive into Bavarian Germany and to the National Park of Berchtesgaden – Hitler''s favourite summer resort. We''ll stop in the town before leaving Germany to re-enter Austria and the province of the Tyrol. From here we continue past the Wilder Kaiser Mountains to the valley of the green River Inn, bringing us to the Alpine resort which grew up around the bridge over the Inn, Innsbruck. Here our Tour Director shows us the Wilten Basilica, the Olympic ski-jump, the Golden Roof , the Hofburg Palace and a special Hidden Treasure! Later, time maybe to enjoy a Tyrolean folklore show? (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 8 - Innsbruck – Neuschwanstein Castle – Oberammergau – Munich (2 nights) This morning after breakfast, we will return to the Bavarian mountains and Germany''s most famous building, mad King Ludwig''s Neuschwanstein Castle. We go up to the castle by horse and carriage and then enjoy a guided tour of its interior. Afterwards, it is only a short drive to the Passion Play village of Oberammergau. Here there is time to admire the many ornate wall-paintings on the village houses and to perhaps visit the Passion Play theatre before we arrive at fun-loving Munich. Tonight, why not get together with your fellow travelling companions and enjoy a few steins of beer in one of the many beer-halls? (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 9 - Munich orientation & at leisure After breakfast we head out on our morning orientation tour which will show us the Hofbräuhaus, the Marienplatz with its Glockenspiel, and the majestic Opera house. Airport Transfers
ienna Airport Transfers will be provided on Days 2 and 13. Group transfers on arrival at Vienna Airport will operate at 10.30 and 13.30. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Vienna Airport at 06.30 and 09.00.

  • Day 2 - Arrive Vienna (2 nights) On arrival at Vienna airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. After your hotel check-in there''s time to relax and unwind. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director and fellow travelling companions.

  • Day 3 - Vienna sightseeing & at leisure After breakfast, highlights of this Austrian capital are revealed on our morning guided sightseeing tour; from the Opera to the Hofburg, from St. Stephen''s Cathedral to the Parliament, we also include a walking tour taking us to the oldest part of the city ‘Am Hof’. Then time at leisure perhaps to visit the Prater amusement park. Later, why not take in a concert of Strauss music or a little Opera? (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 4 - Vienna – Györ – Budapest (2 nights) Our morning drive takes us across the Transdanubian Plain to the very Eastern edge of Europe and the border with Hungary at Hegyeshalom. We stop in the Roman founded town of Györ on the shores of the Danube before arriving in the twin cities of Buda and Pest on either side of this famous romantic river. This evening, why not admire the city from the Danube itself on an illuminated boat cruise? (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 10 - Berlin – Dresden – Prague (2 nights) This morning we head south to the city which is known as Florence on the Elbe, the Renaissance city of Dresden. Here orientation includes the Saxon Wall, Semper Opera and 18th century Cathedral. Finally, we cross into the Czech Republic where we stop at Teresienstadt, site of a large Jewish Ghetto during World War II, to visit the National Cemetery.   • Day 5 - Warsaw sightseeing & at leisure Today we experience a miracle of reconstruc­tion and conservation. Our guided sightseeing tour reveals the historic centre where much of the Old Town was rebuilt after the war. Also we see the site of the Warsaw Ghetto, so shockingly evoked in Polanski''s recent film ''The Pianist''. At leisure perhaps visit the Wilanow Palace, residence of Polish King Sobieski – Victor of Vienna. This evening, after dinner, why not treat yourself to a Chopin recital.   • Day 6 - Warsaw – Czestochowa – Auschwitz – Krakow (2 nights) This morning we drive to Czestochowa to visit the beautiful 14th century Paulite Monastery at Jasna Gora. This is the home of the portrait of Our Lady, the ''Black Madonna'' thought to have been painted by St. Luke. Next, on a more sombre note, we visit the Concentration Camp at Auschwitz and its chilling reminders of the atrocities of World War II. Then on to medieval Krakow. This evening, why not enjoy a Polish Polka Party? (Buffet Breakfast)
