Airport Transfers
Zurich Airport Transfers will be provided on Days 2 and 9. Group transfers on arrival at Zurich Airport will operate at 09.30, 11.00 and 12.30. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Zurich Airport at 08.00.

  • Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Zurich.

     
  • Day 2 - Arrive Zurich On arrival at Zurich airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, we enjoy a late afternoon orientation tour of this lakeside city revealing its charm and beauty. Early this evening we enjoy a Welcome Drink and tour briefing with our Tour Director and meet our fellow travelling companions.

  • Day 3 - Zurich – Liechtenstein – St. Moritz After breakfast, snow-capped mountains and sparkling lakes surround us as we drive to the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein where we visit its capital, Vaduz. From here we continue our journey via the spectacular ski-resort of Davos and make our way up to the Fluela Pass (when open), and past picturesque Susch to our overnight hotel in St. Moritz. This evening, dinner is at our hotel (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 4 - St. Moritz – Bellinzona – Lugano We ascend the Julier Pass and drive along the San Bernadino Route to Bellinzona in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino. Soon we arrive in the balmy lakeside resort of Lugano with its luxuriant gardens, elegant casino and traffic free squares of open air cafés. Perhaps ride a pedalo on the lake or take an excursion to some of the nearby Italian Lakes with their elegant villas and gardens. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 5 - Lugano – Zermatt Via Lake Maggiore and through a small section of Italy to Domodossola we drive towards the majestic Simplon Pass, 6,600 feet high. Later, we arrive at Tasch where we board the electric mini-buses and taxis which take us up to the picturesque village of Zermatt, where our Tour Director will reveal a Hidden Treasure! Then time at leisure in the serenity and crisp air of this Alpine haven, so why not take a mountain ride for fantastic views of the Matterhorn? This evening, we will enjoy dinner at our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 6 - Zermatt – Geneva – Lausanne Our day begins with a drive through the Rhône Valley to Lake Geneva where we view Byron''s Castle of Chillon. From here we will drive to the cosmopolitan city of Geneva where our sightseeing tour will show us the Reformation Monument, the old Cathedral, the Jet d’Eau fountain and the United Nations Building. Then we continue to Lausanne where we stay tonight. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 7 - Lausanne – Berne – Interlaken – Brienz – Lucerne (2 nights) This morning we head north towards Berne to see the Bear pits and then to Interlaken – lying between the lakes of Thun and Brienz and overlooked by the Jungfrau mountain. Time for a spot of lunch before continuing over the Brünig Pass on our approach to lakeside Lucerne in its beautiful setting for two relaxing nights. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 8 - Lucerne orientation & at leisure After breakfast we enjoy an orientation tour around this medieval city highlighting the Lion Monument, built in memory of Louis XVI''s Swiss Guard, and Chapel Bridge. Later with time on your own, you may wish to take an optional excursion to a nearby mountain peak, famed for its splendid views. Or perhaps join in the fun of a Swiss folklore show, or simply choose to explore the old city and shop for Swiss watches, cuckoo clocks and delicious Swiss chocolates.   • Day 3 - Zurich – Liechtenstein – Salzburg Today we enjoy a morning drive along Lake Zurich to Liechtenstein. We stop at its capital Vaduz, before following the Arlberg route into the Tyrol, then into the pretty skiing area around St. Johann in Tyrol and the Wilder Kaiser mountains to Salzburg dominated by the fortress of Hohensalzburg. This evening why not enjoy a walk around the old town? (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 4 - Salzburg – Vienna (2 nights) Our guided walking tour explores the city of Mozart''s birth and "The Sound of Music" fame. We''ll see Mozart''s family house and the Domplatz. Later, enjoy breathtaking scenery on our drive past the Mondsee Lake to the Danube Valley. From the Monastery of Melk, vineyards line the river to Dürnstein en route to Imperial Vienna. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 5 - Vienna sightseeing & at leisure Our guided sightseeing tour includes views of the State Opera, the Hofburg and St. Stephen''s Cathedral, plus Parliament and the Imperial Boulevards. We also enjoy a walking tour taking us to the oldest part of the city in the area known as ‘Am Hof’. Tonight, why not head for the Prater Amusement Park or visit one of the nearby wine villages for dinner at a lively ''heurige'' inn? (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 6 - Vienna – Piber Stud Farm – Villach We''re off to Graz to admire its galleried courtyards and Renais­sance squares. Then we visit the Lippizaner Stud Farm at Piber, breeding place of the athletic white stallions of the Spanish Riding School. Next a scenic drive brings us to our hotel.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 7 - Villach – Innsbruck Today we enjoy striking Alpine scenery as we drive into Italy via Carbonin and Lake Misurina to the Tre Croci Pass. From here, we descend to Cortina d''Ampezzo, the Olympic skiing resort, in the heart of the Dolomites. Then through spectacular mountain passes into Austria again and the Tyrolean capital, Innsbruck, encircled by the spectacular Alps. On our arrival we enjoy an orientation which shows us the Golden Roof, Wilten Basilica and Hofburg Palace and views the Olympic ski-jump. Tonight, we enjoy a dinner of Tyrolean specialities in a local restaurant. (Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)

  • Day 8 - Innsbruck – St. Moritz First we travel via Landeck and over the border back into Switzerland and across the Engadine. On through incomparable scenery as we approach the fashionable winter sports resort of St. Moritz. The rest of the day is free. Perhaps visit some of the nearby glaciers. Tonight dinner is served at our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 9 - St. Moritz – Stresa – Zermatt (2 nights) We drive across to Thusis and via San Bernadino route to Bellinzona, with its three imposing castles. From here our journey takes us via Locarno to scenic Stresa, on the shores of Lake Maggiore. Here we can see the beautiful Borromean Islands before we ascend towards the Simp­lon Pass, and travel up to our Zermatt hotel by electric mini-buses and taxis, where we spend the next two relaxing nights. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 10 - Zermatt at leisure Our Tour Director will show us a Hidden Treasure in this mountain haven, and we have time to relax and admire the wooden chalets bedecked with window boxes in this stunning setting beneath the Matterhorn. Time maybe to take a mountain trip for fantastic views of all the surrounding peaks? (Buffet Breakfast )

     
  • Day 11 - Zermatt – Chamonix – Geneva – Lausanne This morning we drive into France and to the skiing resort of Chamonix in the shadow of Europe''s highest mountain, Mont Blanc! After free time it''s back into Switzerland and to Geneva where an orientation shows us the Jet d''Eau, Flower Clock, United Nations'' Building and includes a walking tour taking us to the Old Town and the Reformation monument. Then we check into our Lausanne hotel. This evening why not enjoy a stroll along the shores of Lake Geneva?(Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 12 - Geneva – Berne – Interlaken – Lucerne (2 nights) We drive via Berne where we view the famous Bear Pit, then on to Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland, with time to admire the mighty Jungfrau. Then over the Brünig Pass we will arrive in charming lakeside Lucerne for our two-night stay.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 13 - Lucerne orientation & at leisure Today''s morning orientation tour takes us past the Musegg Towers and walls of the Old Town to the Chapel Bridge and Lion Monument. Later, perhaps enjoy an excursion up a mountain, join in the fun of a Swiss folklore show and explore the old city. Shopping is plentiful, from Swiss watches to jewellery and delicious chocolates. Airport Transfers
Group transfers on arrival at Frankfurt Airport will operate at 09.30 and 12.00. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Frankfurt Airport at 08.00 and 10.00.

  • Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Frankfurt.

     
  • Day 2 - Arrive Frankfurt (Offenbach) On arrival at Frankfurt airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. Later, an orientation tour of this city''s centre and medieval Römerplatz is followed by a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and fellow travelling companions.

  • Day 3 - Frankfurt (Raunheim) – Rhine Cruise – Heidelberg – Baden-Baden – Black Forest (Titisee) This morning we enjoy a scenic drive through the Rhine Valley en route to St. Goar. Here we embark on a Rhine cruise downstream to Boppard, passing the Lorelei Rock, ancient castles and terraced vineyards. From here we rejoin our coach and head to Heidelberg for a walking tour of the Castle courtyards and then drive through Baden-Baden to see its pretty gardens and elegant casino. Finally we arrive in our hotel in the Black Forest for dinner and overnight.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 4 - Black Forest – Rhine Falls – Engelberg (2 nights) After breakfast, fairytale images are evoked on our drive through the Black Forest. We visit Lake Titisee and continue our journey to the Swiss border, stopping to view the mighty Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen. Next it''s on to Switzerland and the ski-resort of Engelberg for the next two nights.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 5 - Lucerne Excursion This morning we drive to lakeside Lucerne where our orientation tour with our Tour Director includes a visit to the poignant Lion Monument, the medieval old town and a special Hidden Treasure! Later, time perhaps to take an exciting mountain excursion and then join the fun of a traditional Swiss folklore show before returning to the hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

     
  • Day 6 - Engelberg – Interlaken – Geneva Fantastic scenery on our drive over the Brünig Pass brings us to the resort of Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland. Here we admire the mighty Jungfrau before driving via Berne to the international city of Geneva where an orientation tour shows us the United Nations'' Building, Jet d''Eau Fountain and a walking tour takes us to the Reformation Monument in the old town. Tonight, why not enjoy a dinner of Savoyarde specialities in a mountainside restaurant? (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 7 - Geneva – Mont Blanc – Zermatt (2 nights) Free time this morning to shop or take a cruise on the lake. Then we continue through Alpine France to view spectacular Mont Blanc, Europe''s highest mountain. Next back in Switzerland we head through the Rhône Valley, where we ascend by electric mini-buses and taxis to our Zermatt hotel. We dine at our hotel tonight.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 8 - Zermatt at leisure Enjoy a full day in Europe''s most charming mountain resort. The streets are traffic-free and its views of the Matterhorn are stunning. Perhaps take a ride on the incredible Gornergrat mountain railway for lunch and fantastic views.  (Buffet Breakfast)

     
  • Day 9 - Zermatt – Stresa – St. Moritz Today, we descend to Tasch to rejoin our coach for a crossing of the Simplon Pass into Italy. We stop in the pretty resort of Stresa on Lake Maggiore, before we drive along beautiful Lake Como. Back into Switzerland to the Engadine Valley and elegant St. Moritz. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 10 - St. Moritz – Innsbruck We enjoy a scenic drive to Switzerland''s Inn Valley and the Austrian frontier near Landeck.   • Day 11 - Innsbruck – Berchtesgaden – Vienna (2 nights) Today''s drive takes us past crumbling castles and tiny churches nestling below mountain peaks. Next into Germany and the Bavarian Alps to Alpine Berchtesgaden in the beautiful National Park. From here we continue our journey to the Salzkammergut and Imperial Vienna for two nights. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 12 - Vienna sightseeing & at leisure We will enjoy a guided sightseeing tour which highlights the Opera, the Hofburg, Parliament, St. Stephen''s Cathedral and the Imperial Boulevards.   • Day 13 - Vienna – Dürnstein – Salzburg This morning we drive along the Danube Valley where we see Richard the Lionheart''s Castle at Dürnstein. Then we continue past the monastery of Melk to the charming city of Salzburg, birthplace of Mozart and scene of "The Sound of Music". Here our walking tour explores these locations and features the Residenz Square, Cathedral and the Horse Fountain. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 14 - Salzburg – Munich – Oberammergau This morning after breakfast, we travel back into Germany, passing the Chiemsee Lake where King Ludwig II built a castle to rival Versailles. Then on our arrival in Munich, an orientation tour shows us the Olympic Stadium and Marienplatz. Later we ascend into the Bavarian Alps past picturesque wooden farmhouses and baroque churches to arrive in the Passion Play village of Oberammergau. Orientation here will show us the Passion Play Theatre and the frescoed houses of this charming village. Tonight dinner is included at our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 15 - Oberammergau – Rothenburg – Frankfurt We head north to the Romantic Road and the old town of Rothenburg where our Tour Director will reveal another Hidden Treasure to us!   • Day 3 - Munich – Prague (2 nights) After breakfast we make our way to Nuremburg, carefully rebuilt after wartime destruction, and enjoy a walking tour of this treasure trove of early German history. Then we enter the Czech Republic, pass by Pilsen, renowned for its breweries, and reach one of Europe’s most exciting cities, Prague, for the next two nights. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 4 - Prague sightseeing & at leisure Our sightseeing tour shows us how much Prague has blossomed since the ‘Velvet Revolution’. We visit impressive St Vitus Cathedral, which is set inside the 1,000 year old Prague Castle, then cross the Vlatva River to explore the cobblestoned Old Town Square and see the Astronomical Clock.   • Day 5 - Prague – Budapest (2 nights) Today''s drive takes us through Moravia in the Czech Republic and into Slovakia to visit Bratislava, capital of the Republic of Slovakia, with its medieval Town Hall in the quaint Old Town area.
