Airport Transfers
Vienna Airport Transfers will be provided on Days 2 and 18. Group transfers on arrival at Vienna Airport will operate at 10.30 and 13.30. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Vienna Airport at 06.30 and 09.00.

  • Day 1- Depart USA Overnight flight to Vienna.

     
  • Day 2 - Arrive Vienna On arrival at Vienna airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. After check-in we learn about the Hapsburg dynasties and their enormous Empire on our afternoon sightseeing tour which includes a walking tour of Old Vienna featuring St Stephen’s Cathedral and ‘Am Hof’. Later, we will enjoy a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and fellow travelling companions.

  • Day 3 - Vienna – Ljubljana – Lake Bled (2 nights) This morning we head for the Karawanken mountains and over the Loiblpass into the green hills of Slovenia. We drive to the capital Ljubljana where sightseeing with a local guide highlights the Opera House, Cathedral, National Museum, Castle and the numerous parks of this Roman founded city. Then we continue to the place which has been nicknamed an earthly paradise – Lake Bled, where we will enjoy a relaxing two night stay. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 4 - Lake Bled at leisure Today we have the whole day to relax or perhaps take a boat trip on the lake or visit the incredible maze of underground caves at Postojna. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

     
  • Day 5 - Lake Bled – Zagreb (2 nights) After breakfast we make our way to Croatia and its capital, Zagreb. This afternoon our sightseeing tour includes the lower and upper town and shows us the majestic Cathedral, Archbishop''s Palace, St. Mark''s Church, the Opera House and more!   • Day 7 - Zagreb – Budapest (2 nights) Today we cross the border into Hungary pausing on the shores of Lake Balaton. From here we continue to the twin towns of Buda and Pest , where our Tour Director will show us a Hidden Treasure of the city during our stay! (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 9 - Budapest – Slovakia – Krakow (2 nights) This morning our journey brings us to the Slovakian border and on to Poland and the foothills of the Tatra Mountains. Soon we are in Krakow, where we spend the next two nights. Tonight, why not enjoy a Polish Polka Party? (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 11 - Krakow – Auschwitz – Czestochowa – Warsaw (2 nights) This morning we step back into recent history when we visit the Concentration Camp at Auschwitz, so chillingly evoked in ''Schindler''s List'', reminding us of the World War II Holocaust. Then in contrast, the beautiful Paulite Monastery at Jasna Gora is our next stop with its portrait of Our Lady ''The Black Madonna'', supposedly painted by St. Luke the Evangelist. Finally, we make our way to Warsaw for our two-night stay. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 13 - Warsaw – Poznan – Berlin (2 nights) Today''s drive takes us across the central plains of Poland to Poznan, with its charming City Hall and Gothic churches.   • Day 15 - Berlin – Dresden – Prague (2 nights) We travel through the Spreewald Forest to ''Florence on the Elbe'', beautiful Dresden. On our arrival an orientation tour includes the Saxon Wall, Semper Opera and 18th century Cathedral. Next we cross into the Czech Republic. From here we make our way to the astonishing city of Prague for our two-night stay. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 17 - Prague – Lednice – Vienna After breakfast, we drive via Brno and Southern Moravia to visit the gardens of the castle of Lednice, one time home of the Liechtenstein family.   • Day 2 - Arrive Frankfurt (Offenbach) On arrival at Frankfurt airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. Late this afternoon, we enjoy an orientation tour of the city''s financial centre and medieval Romerplatz. Later we enjoy a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and fellow travellers.

  • Day 3 - Frankfurt (Offenbach) – Rhine Cruise – Cologne A morning drive brings us to St. Goar where we embark on a relaxing Rhine Cruise. We disembark in Boppard, and rejoin our coach as we drive past Bonn, Beethoven''s birthplace. Then we continue our journey to Cologne to see its gothic Cathedral, before dinner at our hotel tonight.   • Day 8 - Dresden – Modlareuth – Bayreuth – Nuremberg Our first stop this morning is at Modlareuth, which the Americans called, ''Little Berlin'' – the ideal destination for people who wish to experience recent German history. Here we will visit the open-air museum, which includes watching a film on this unique village as well as, experiencing its towers and fortifications. From here we continue our journey to Bayreuth where we see the Wagner Festival Theatre. Next it''s only a short drive to Nuremberg, once one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. On our arrival an orientation tour will show us the mighty ramparts, bustling market place and St. Sebald''s Cathedral as part of our walking tour of the city. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Then time to shop for wooden Christmas ornaments before we drive along the Romantic Road to the lively Bavarian capital, Munich for the night.   • Day 11 - Munich – Dachau – Oberammergau – Black Forest (Breitnau) This morning, we drive to Dachau village where we visit the sinister concentration camp for sobering reminders of the horrors of World War II. From here our ascent into the Bavarian Alps brings us to the famous Passion Play village of Oberammergau. Next we will continue on to view Neuschwanstein, mad King Ludwig''s fairytale castle. Then the scenery of our drive along the Bavarian pre-alpine range is enough to take your breath away! Finally, we arrive in the hills of the Black Forest to stop at Lake Titisee, famous for its cuckoo clocks. Tonight, we dine at our picturesque hotel in the heart of this beautiful region. From here, it''s only a short trip on the autobahn as we journey back to Frankfurt for the final night of our German extravaganza. Tonight we enjoy a Farewell Dinner together with our Tour Director. Airport Transfers
Frankfurt Airport Transfers will be provided on Days 2 and 15. Group transfers on arrival at Frankfurt Airport will operate at 09.30 and 12.00. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Frankfurt Airport at 08.00 and 10.00.

  • Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Frankfurt.

     
  • Day 2 - Arrive Frankfurt (Offenbach) On arrival at Frankfurt airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, our Tour Director takes us on a late afternoon orientation tour which explores the dynamic financial centre and medieval Römerplatz. Afterwards we will enjoy a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and fellow travellers.

  • Day 3 - Frankfurt (Offenbach) – Rhine Cruise – Cologne This morning our day starts with a drive to St. Goar where we embark on a scenic Rhine cruise past medieval castles and terrraced vineyards. We rejoin our coach at Boppard and continue via Bonn to Cologne where an orien­tation tour includes the gothic Cathedral. Then enjoy free time before dinner. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 4 - Cologne – Hamburg Today''s drive takes us via Lower Saxony en route to Hamburg for the night.   • Day 8 - Würzburg – Munich Today we drive via the Romantic Road and to the fairytale town of Rothenburg, with its gabled houses and wrought iron shop signs for a walking tour. Tonight why not discover some of Munich''s lively beer halls. (Buffet Breakfast)

  • Day 9 - Munich – Salzburg We''re off to Salzburg this morning, where spires and domes are overlooked by the fortress of Hohensalzburg. We''ll see the family house in the picturesque Getreidegasse and admire the Domplatz, the baroque square dominated by its Cathedral. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

  • Day 10 - Salzburg – Dürnstein – Vienna (2 nights) Enjoy breathtaking scenery on our drive past the Mondsee Lake to the Danube Valley. Then from the Monastery of Melk, vineyards line the river to Dürnstein where Richard the Lionheart was held prisoner and subsequently found by Blondel, his faithful minstrel. We arrive in Vienna, with the afternoon at leisure.(Buffet Breakfast)

On to view Neuschwanstein – mad King Ludwig''s fairytale castle. Later, we skirt around Western Europe''s largest lake, the Bodensee, Lake Constance. Into the green wooded hills of the Black Forest, where cuckoo clocks were first invented, to the University town of Freiburg, for the night. Here an orientation tour shows us the Cathedral and the many frescoed buildings of this once Austrian city! (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
