Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What is the Independent Travel Agent
Program?

This program has been formulated to allow creative individuals to
venture into the travel business from their home or place of business
without the high costs involved
in opening a storefront agency. As an independent agent, you are not an
employee, but operate as an independent contractor in an effort to
promote our services. For every cruise and tour package booked, you will
receive 60%+ of the commission earned. Commission levels are negotiated
on an individual basis, based on experience and production.

You handle all of the details and do all of the work. You research the
client's trip, determine the best supplier, price the package, book it,
receive all payments, correspond with the client, and handle any other
details.

2. Will it really be possible to do this from my home or place of
business?

Yes, without a doubt. The program is ideally suited for home based
operations and
with the advanced computer technology available today, opportunities are
unlimited.

3. Will I be able to work part time and keep my full time job?

Of course! In fact, most people prefer to sell travel part time for
several years without ever switching to full time. Remember that you are
the boss. You set your own hours of operation.

4. How are commissions paid?

The commission percentage varies by company. Once your clients travel,
the supplier will send us a commission check the following month for the
total commission earned on the sale. We forward your allotted percentage
as soon as the check arrives to us. We pay commissions twice per month.
(the 15th and end of the month.)

You will be provided with monthly commission reports. At the end of the
year, we'll supply you with a 1099 for your income taxes.

5. Will I have additional perks and benefits?

Once you have earned $5000.00 in commission as required by IATAN, you
will receive a travel agent card that will give you additional discounts
on airline tickets, car rentals, tours, fam trips, and cruises. You will
also be eligible for free travel.

6. Do I have to be bonded?

We are fully bonded. Independent Agents will be able to sell all types
of travel under our bond. You might want to check local laws concerning
home based businesses in your community. Some states may require a home
occupancy permit, business license, or travel sales certificate.

7. Do I need Errors & Omissions Insurance?

All agents must carry $1 million dollars of E & O coverage. Errors and
Omissions insurance is liability insurance for the travel industry. It
will protect you and us in the event that a client files a lawsuit due
to your error or negligence. E & O insurance can be purchased through
Atlas for a annual fee of $135.00, which is your only upfront cost.

8. How will you handle credit card payments?

We have some very strict rules in place concerning credit card payments
and they are there for our mutual protection. All of the necessary forms
will be made available to you. We do not accept a clients payments
without a signature!

9. Will marketing materials be available?

We will supply the marketing materials you need. Suppliers are always
anxious to send brochures, shells, posters, and just about any sales
material that will provide exposure for the supplier.

10. How will I find out about travel specials for my clients?

We have various up to date web sites that will assist you in researching
your travel needs.

15. What do I need to get started and how much will it cost?

The total cost to start our program is "$0". You will however have to be
covered with E & O insurance which is $135 per year.

Additional required items include:
- A completed Independent agent contract and E & O enrollment form.
- A dedicated business phone line.
- A home computer with internet access.
- An email address. (Our preferred method of contact)
- Access to a fax machine

HOW MANY FREE TRIPS CAN I EARN?
Trips are priced differently.
Normally, tours include 1 free trip earned for each 16 fully paying
passengers. If you need more free trips, such as 1-free-for-15 or
1-free-for-10, just let us know and we can calculate your quotation
accordingly. You can give the 'free' trips to other passengers who
can help you promote the tour - or 'sell' the free trip(s) as
fundraising for your organization, or use them for personal travel.
Ask us how.
When you are booked as a group on cruises, it is possible to add
special benefits for all the passengers such as a cocktail party, a
personalized cabin gift or special tour.
WHAT IS MY PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITY AS A "GROUP LEADER?"
As a group leader, your responsibility is to gather
people who will go the
selected cruise or tour. Then you serve as a contact for the
group to
arrange payments, document delivery addresses, etc. By
promoting the
tour or cruise, you would typically earn a
free trip.
DOES EVERYONE KNOW I AM
TRAVELING FOR FREE?
No. The terms of your arrangements are strictly
confidential.
TIPS ON ORGANIZING A GROUP
We are all members of groups; by birth, by association and by common
interests.
The following are ideas of where you might find group members:
- Organizations: Retirees,
churches, alumni, PTA, charities,
retired military units
- Clubs: Bridge groups, health
clubs, choirs, class reunions,
bank clubs, etc.
- Special Interest: Golf, square
dancing, bowling, photography,
wine, bird watching
- Family Groups: Weddings,
reunions, anniversaries
- Business Groups: Company
meetings, new product launches, incentive
awards for increased sales or productivity
SALES SUPPORT
In additional to counseling group leaders in the
selection of the right
itinerary, we will prepare customized flyers and sign up
sheets and work
with you in the promotion of the trip. We handle the
invoicing and address
your group's specific needs. We carefully check documents so
you can
travel with confidence.
I HAVE A GROUP "WHAT NEXT?"
Now that you have your group, schedule a group meeting. Make it a
social event by having everyone bring snacks and drinks. You are the
group coordinator so be ready for the many details you will be faced
with. The following are some ideas that you will want to discuss
with your group:
- How long do you want your
cruise, tour or vacation to last? Examples: 3, 5, 7 days or
longer.
- What dates are possible travel
dates? It is wise to have more than one date available.
- The itinerary - where do you
want to visit? Examples: Caribbean, Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, or
Eastern U.S. and Canada
- What cruise lines or tour
operators are you interested in?
What type of accommodations is the group interested in: Cruising:
inside (the least expensive), outside, or suites (the most
expensive). Tours or vacations: budget, first class, deluxe or
luxury hotels.
- How many people are interested?
Do you expect to have more people than showed up for the first
meeting?
- How many in the group will be
bringing children?
- Does anyone in the group need a
handicapped cabin or have any special needs.
- Does anyone require air travel
and if so from where?
- Do you have anyone who is not an
U. S. citizen?
- Will anyone be traveling as a
single?
Now that you have discussed the
basics with your group, it is time to call your our Travel
Specialist to begin getting prices and discuss the particulars that
your group will require.
Your specialist will be asking the
questions that we have listed above. She or he will work with you on
prices and the planning materials that will make your job easier. If
you feel it necessary, your travel specialist will be able to supply
you with informational flyers to pass out at your next meeting. At
this meeting it will be time to pass out the registration forms for
those that are interested. This form will have space for the names
of the passengers, their address, phone number, choice of
accommodations, place for special needs, meal sitting choice, who
they want to be cross referenced with (for meal seating purposes),
and whether or not they want travel insurance. Your package is a
vacation investment and we highly suggest the protection of travel
insurance. You will work with the same person from start to finish.
We hope that these suggestions have
been helpful to you. When your group is ready, please call our group
department to make a reservation.
