DAY 1 – THU – DEPART USA
Overnight flight to London.

DAY 2 – FRI – ARRIVE LONDON
Welcome to London! On arrival you are transferred to your London tour hotel.

DAY 3 – SAT – LONDON SIGHTSEEING
Your half day sightseeing tour of London’s West End shows you Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace. The afternoon is free to explore or shop. (B)

DAY 4 – SUN – LONDON – WARWICK
After meeting your Tour Director, head off to Oxford to see the city’s famous university buildings. Afterwards, visit Churchill’s grave at Bladon before taking a scenic drive through the golden stone villages of the Cotswolds to the market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, home to William Shakespeare, whose birthplace you will visit. Then to your hotel to enjoy a Welcome Drink this evening.

DAY 5 – MON – STRATFORD – YORK
See Coventry’s two cathedrals before heading north to York. Walk inside the ancient city walls to see the maze of narrow streets including the Shambles, where the houses lean towards each other so far that they almost touch. See also the York Minster, largest medieval church in northern Europe. Enjoy a Highlight Dinner in the evening.

DAY 6 – TUE – YORK – EDINBURGH
Head north through the landscapes immortalised by the Brontė family and James Heriot to Durham where an orientation tour shows you the cathedral and castle. Move on to the Northumberland Moors and into Scotland at Carter Bar in the wild Cheviot Hills. Pass the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey and cross the salmon-rich river Tweed before reaching the beautiful Scottish capital of Edinburgh.

DAY 7 – WED – EDINBURGH SIGHTSEEING
With your local guide, drive along Princes Street past the ornate Scott Memorial into the 18th century New Town with its classical Adam facades. Across in the Old Town, visit Edinburgh Castle, perched high on its rock. Follow the Royal Mile down to the Palace of Holyroodhouse where Mary Queen of Scots lived – it is still the official Scottish residence of the Queen. The rest of the day is at leisure. Selected departures enjoy the Edinburgh Tattoo – a colorful mixture of military manoeuvres, complete with pipes and drums. (B)

DAY 8 – THU – EDINBURGH – LAKE DISTRICT
Drive through the contrasting scenery of the Southern Uplands, and stop to visit the Moffat Woollen Mills before crossing the border back into England. Travel through the ‘Auld Grey Town’ of Kendal on your way to visit Levens Hall. Admire the ornate Great Hall of this Elizabethan manor and the renowned Topiary Gardens, designed in 1690. Continue to your hotel, close to the shores of Lake Windermere.

DAY 9 – FRI – LAKE DISTRICT – CHESTER
Enjoy the beauty of the English Lake District in lakeside Grasmere, where you will visit poet William Wordsworth’s grave in the local churchyard. Head to Chester, where an orientation tour within the well preserved walls shows you the galleried shopping arcades called the ‘Rows’ and fine half-timbered buildings. See also the remains of the Roman Amphitheatre, the colorful Jubilee Clock and impressive cathedral.

DAY 10 – SAT – CHESTER – BRISTOL
The morning’s route follows the Welsh borders to ancient Ludlow, which today is a bustling town still dominated by the massive fortress built to resist the frequent Welsh raids; meanwhile, the 15th century mansions on Broad Street reflect a later time of peace and prosperity. Pass through the apple orchards of Herefordshire before crossing into Wales, ‘Land of Song’. In the enchanting Wye Valley, pass the ruins of Tintern Abbey and cross the Severn Bridge back into England. The night is spent in the city of Bristol.

DAY 11 – SUN – BRISTOL – PLYMOUTH
Drive to the delightful Georgian city of Bath, its curative waters famous since Roman times. Visit the 18th century Pump Room and the ancient Baths, where parts of the Roman plumbing are still in use. See the 15th century Abbey before continuing to mysterious Glastonbury, a town steeped in legend (some say that King Arthur is buried in the ruined abbey). Pass through the cider orchards of Somerset to your hotel in Plymouth.

DAY 12 – MON – DARTMOOR EXCURSION
Drive to Saltash and cruise up Plymouth Sound to the harbour and the Mayflower Steps, from where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail on the Mayflower. Back on dry land, see the Hoe, where Sir Francis Drake played bowls, the Citadel, and explore the historic Barbican area. Now it’s out over the rugged, wild, heather-clad Dartmoor, with its sinister memories of the remote prison and 'Hound of the Baskervilles'. (B,D)

DAY 13 – TUE – PLYMOUTH – LONDON
Cross Salisbury Plain to visit Stonehenge, reputed to be over 4,000 years old, before returning to London.

DAY 3 – WED – LONDON SIGHTSEEING
Your half day sightseeing tour shows you Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. The afternoon is free to explore or shop. (B)

DAY 4 – THU – LONDON – HAMPSHIRE
Meet your Tour Director and make your way to the pretty Kent village of Westerham, where Winston Churchill watches over the neat village green. You visit his nearby residence of Chartwell, before continuing through brilliant yellow and green pastures to Hever Castle, home to the tragic tale of Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII. Cross the moat to explore the fortified manor house and stroll the pretty gardens. Move on to your hotel set amid a 176-acre parkland golf course, with extensive leisure facilities and Health Spa. Enjoy a Welcome Drink before dinner tonight.

DAY 5 – FRI – NEW FOREST EXCURSION
A scenic drive through the New Forest brings you to Beaulieu where you will visit the Palace House and Abbey ruins, and the collection of cars in the National Motor Museum. Travel on to Salisbury to see the 13th century cathedral, whose spire is the tallest in the land. After some free time, visit nearby Wilton House, one of the finest homes in Britain, with state rooms by Inigo Jones containing a remarkable collection of paintings. Return to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)

DAY 6 – SAT – HAMPSHIRE – STRATFORD
Visit the cathedral town of Winchester this morning, where King Alfred stands guard in the High Street. The country roads lead you past pretty villages en route to Avebury, which is partially situated in a huge prehistoric henge monument of several stone circles. Continue on to Stratford–upon–Avon to visit Shakespeare’s birthplace, full of memorabilia and artifacts relating to his life.

DAY 7 – SUN – COTSWOLDS EXCURSION
An enchanting day takes you across the beautiful Cotswold hills, a chocolate box scene of golden stone villages with roses round the doors. Visit Blenheim Palace, the greatest building of the English Baroque, residence of the Dukes of Marlborough and birthplace of Winston Churchill. After touring the house and gardens, visit the gardens of Sudeley Castle, former home to one of King Henry VIII’s wives, Katherine Parr. (B,D)

DAY 8 – MON – STRATFORD – LAKE DISTRICT
Travel through the orchards of Worcestershire to the border town of Ludlow with its impressive castle ruins. As you drive through the remote Shropshire hills, you will pass Wenlock Edge, which is celebrated in the poetry of AE Housman. Reach historic Ironbridge Gorge, birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and marvel at the 200-year-old Iron Bridge before continuing north to the stunning English Lake District.

DAY 9 – TUE – LAKE DISTRICT EXCURSION
A whole day is set aside to enjoy the Lake District – a scenic wonderland of rugged mountains and tranquil waters and an inspiration to a host of English poets. Visit Wordsworth’s grave in the churchyard at Grasmere, then admire the vast expanse of Windermere, the largest of the lakes. Perhaps take a cruise on its peaceful waters? (B,D)

DAY 10 – WED – LAKE DISTRICT – EDINBURGH
Cross the Cumbrian mountains and the Scottish border at Gretna – for years the destination of eloping English lovers. Continue across the Southern Lowlands en route to Edinburgh. Discover the wonders of the plant kingdom in the Botanical Gardens which form a remarkable haven of tranquillity in the city’s south.

DAY 11 – THU – SCOTTISH EXCURSION
See the highlights of Edinburgh: Holyroodhouse, St Giles’ Cathedral on the Royal Mile, the Castle and New Town. Cross the Firth of Forth en route to St Andrews, the home of golf. Visit the ruined cathedral, see Scotland’s oldest university and the most famous golf course in the world. Later, selected departures enjoy the spectacular Edinburgh Tattoo. (B)

DAY 12 – FRI – EDINBURGH – HARROGATE
Travel through the Borders region to Abbotsford House, the 19th century estate of Sir Walter Scott - now a museum. Head south past Jedburgh Abbey and over the border to visit Hadrian’s Wall and on to Harrogate. A well-known spa town since the 16th century, it is also famous for its gardens. Tonight, you are offered a choice of restaurants for your dining pleasure.

DAY 13 – SAT – YORKSHIRE EXCURSION
After breakfast, make the short journey to the walled city of York. See the huge Minster, Britain’s largest medieval cathedral, and explore the maze of narrow streets, including the Shambles. Visit the fabulous 18th century Castle Howard, with its tapestries and scenic gardens, before returning to your hotel in Harrogate. DAY 14 – SUN – HARROGATE – LONDON
Travel south to visit Warwick Castle, with its magnificent medieval towers and ramparts. The chilling dungeon contrasts with the splendor of the State Rooms and baronial Great Hall. Now return to London.

DAY 4 – LONDON – YORK
After a warm welcome from your Tour Director, drive through the Oxfordshire countryside into the ‘heart of England’ to Stratford-upon-Avon to visit the birthplace of the Bard, William Shakespeare. Head north to York, the ancient capital of Viking Britain, and see history unfold before your eyes as you pass the crooked houses of the ‘Shambles’ to reach York Minster, England’s largest medieval cathedral. Settle into the hotel with a Welcome Drink with your fellow travelers.

DAY 5 – YORK – EDINBURGH
Stop off in Durham to see the castle and the fine Romanesque cathedral before moving on to see Hadrian’s Wall, Britain’s most impressive Roman monument. Cross the wild Northumberland moors into Scotland, passing Jedburgh Abbey and the house of the ill-fated Mary Queen of Scots en route to the capital of Edinburgh, your base for two nights.

DAY 6 – EDINBURGH SIGHTSEEING
A guided tour visits the castle which dominates the city from its rocky crag, and drives down the Royal Mile, past the venerable St Giles’ Cathedral, to see the Queen’s Holyroodhouse Palace before crossing over to the 18th century New Town. The afternoon provides time to shop on Princes Street. Tonight, selected departures enjoy the Military Tattoo – a colorful mixture of historic battles and modern military manoeuvres, complete with pipes and drums. (B)

DAY 7 – EDINBURGH – HIGHLANDS
Cross the Firth of Forth to St Andrews, where golf was born in the 15th century, before heading to Perth to visit the famous Caithness Glass Factory. Later, visit a whisky distillery where the local water, the finest malt and age-old skills combine to produce a ‘wee dram’ for you to taste. Cross the Grampian Mountains for a warm Highland welcome at your hotel in Newtonmore. Enjoy a Highlight Dinner with haggis, accompanied by the sound of the bagpipes.

DAY 8 – HIGHLANDS – LAKE DISTRICT
Mountains and glens greet you as you drive through dramatic Glencoe. On the ‘bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond’ you’ll board a guided Highlight cruise on one of Scotland’s most beautiful lochs. Afterwards, continue south through Glasgow into the Southern Uplands of Scotland before crossing the border to arrive at your hotel in the beautiful English Lake District.

DAY 9 – LAKE DISTRICT – WARRINGTON
Time to enjoy the beauty of the Lake District, its fells, lakes and valleys combining to make it one of England’s best loved regions. There is time take a cruise on Lake Windermere, before stopping in Grasmere where the Lakeland poet William Wordsworth is buried. Then it’s on to Warrington for the evening.

DAY 10 – WARRINGTON – DUBLIN
Step back into Roman times in Chester, where you will see the city’s ancient encircling walls and its remarkable 13th century black and white galleried ‘Rows’, now shopping arcades. Continue into Wales, glimpsing the massive Conwy Castle before crossing the Menai Straits to pass through the world-famous village with the very Welsh name of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. From Holyhead, sail across the sea to Ireland and its capital, Dublin, for a two-night stay.

DAY 11 – DUBLIN SIGHTSEEING
A local guide will show you Dublin’s elegant Georgian squares and the impressive castle, which you will visit (if open). Also see the Irish President’s home in Phoenix Park, famous O’Connell Street and the Customs House. The afternoon is yours to shop in Grafton Street or to continue sightseeing. In the evening, consider an Irish cabaret show and dinner. (B)

DAY 12 – DUBLIN – KILLARNEY
Drive to County Kildare, Ireland’s premier thoroughbred horse region, for a guided tour of the National Stud, and admire the adjoining Japanese Gardens. View one of the great sights of Ireland, the Rock of Cashel, as you cross the rolling pastures which encircle Tipperary, which is immortalised in the famous song, before continuing on to Killarney.

DAY 13 – RING OF KERRY EXCURSION
An excursion takes you around the magical Ring of Kerry, a world of towering cliffs, lush lake lands and remote villages. Pass through Ireland’s highest mountain range, and enjoy a sense of the unhurried pace of Irish life as you reach the three peaceful Lakes of Killarney. Later, perhaps take an optional ride with the locals on one of Killarney’s jaunting cars. (B)

DAY 14 – KILLARNEY – WATERFORD
Cross the rugged Derrynasaggart Mountains to Blarney, and visit the woollen mill and the ancient castle, where you’ll never be lost for words after kissing the famous Blarney Stone. Travel on through the scenic port of Dungarvan to Waterford, where you can admire a sparkling display of crystal before settling into your hotel for the night.

DAY 15 – WATERFORD – CARDIFF
Drive to Rosslare to take the ferry across the Irish Sea to Pembroke. Continue past the valleys of South Wales to the Welsh capital, Cardiff, famous for its imposing castle and the brilliant Millennium Stadium.

DAY 16 – CARDIFF – LONDON
Cross the Severn bridge, spanning the Bristol channel between Wales and England, then on to the Georgian streets of Bath where you visit the Roman Baths. Cross Salisbury Plain to visit mysterious Stonehenge before returning to London.

DAY 1 – DEPART USA
Overnight flight to London.

DAY 2 – ARRIVE LONDON
Welcome to London! On arrival you are transferred to your London tour hotel.

DAY 3 – LONDON SIGHTSEEING
Your half day sightseeing tour shows you Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. The afternoon is at leisure. (B)

DAY 4 – LONDON – STRATFORD
After a warm welcome from your Tour Director, head west over the green Chiltern Hills. Stop in the university town of Oxford before driving through pretty Cotswold villages to visit Shakespeare’s birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon. Enjoy a Welcome Drink.

DAY 5 – STRATFORD – YORK
Visit the Wedgwood china factory before continuing to York to wander the cobbled streets of the Shambles and see the huge York Minster.

Tour the beautiful Lake District before stopping at Gretna Green in Scotland. Then it’s on to Edinburgh. Tonight, selected departures attend the spectacular Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle.

DAY 7 – EDINBURGH SIGHTSEEING

DAY 10 – ORKNEY ISLANDS EXCURSION
Drive to John O’Groats, the most northerly town on the British mainland, where you board a ferry to the Orkney Islands. Visit the village of Skara Brae, the Ring of Brodgar, Kirkwall and the Italian Chapel. Head back to the mainland for the evening. (B,D)

DAY 11 – THURSO – ISLE OF SKYE
Relax and enjoy the lochs and mountains on your way to the fishing town of Ullapool. Then it’s ‘over the sea to Skye’. Admire the scenic splendor of the Cuillin Hills en route to your hotel in Portree.

DAY 12 – ISLE OF SKYE – GLASGOW
Take in magnificent scenery as you pass Eilean Donan Castle and continue through Glencoe, ‘the valley of the weeping’. Stop on the ‘bonnie banks’ of Loch Lomond before arriving in Glasgow.

DAY 13 – GLASGOW – LONDONDERRY
Bid farewell to Scotland as you cross the Irish Sea, enjoying views of the Island of Arran on the way. Take the scenic Antrim coast road to the Giant’s Causeway before reaching your hotel.

DAY 14 – LONDONDERRY – SLIGO
Join a guide to see Derry’s Walls, the Guildhall and the city’s cathedral before driving south to visit the Belleek Pottery Centre. Continue to the churchyard at Drumcliff, where the Irish poet WB Yeats is buried, en route to your hotel in Sligo.

DAY 15 – DONEGAL EXCURSION
Pass Ballyshannon to see O’Donnell’s Castle in Donegal, then it’s on to Ardara for a hand loom demonstration before returning to Sligo via picturesque Killybegs. (B)

DAY 16 – SLIGO – LIMERICK
Take a scenic drive through the Connemara region to visit the famous marble factory. Continue to Galway where you see St Nicholas Cathedral, the Spanish Arch and Eyre Square. Now on to Bunratty Folk Park, a living museum. Stay tonight in Limerick.

DAY 17 – LIMERICK – KILLARNEY
An orientation tour shows you King John’s Castle, St. Mary’s Cathedral and the treaty stone. Now drive through the charming village of Adare into County Kerry. In Killarney, enjoy a ride on a famous jaunting car. Hotel: Killarney Avenue & Towers. (B,D)

DAY 18 – KILLARNEY – WATERFORD
Tour the Ring of Kerry before continuing to Blarney Castle to kiss the Blarney Stone. See the city of Cork before arriving at Waterford.

After visiting the Waterford Crystal showroom, drive to Kilkenny to see its castle en route to the fun loving Irish capital, Dublin.
