the Grand Canyon, great hikes into side canyons, swimming, and

ample time for off-river hiking and exploration. The third day
literally explodes in a flurry of whitewater thrills as your
guides maneuver their boats through 28 of the Colorado Rivers
most notorious rapids. On the last day of the tour, we'll cross
the upper end of Lake Powell to our take-out point at Hite
Marina were the adventure continues with a *(optional) scenic

Cataract Canyon
4-Days |
|
Trip
Overview |
Where the Colorado River and
Green River meet in a majestic setting called “The Confluence,”
Cataract Canyon begins. Bolstered by the Green, the Colorado
doubles its force, and carves a deep 100-mile-long chasm through
the heart of Canyonlands National Park. Calm stretches of river
wind through soul-stirring canyons and dazzling geologic
formations. Ancient Native American ruins, fascinating
petroglyphs, and magnificent waterfalls beckon your arrival.
Surrender your senses as some 28 rapids take giant steps
downward in one of the river’s steepest stretches, rivaling the
big water of the Grand Canyon.
-
RAFTING »
Class III-V whitewater combined with calm stretches.
-
HIKING »
Short walks to longer hikes over moderate terrain (all
optional).
-
CAMPING »
Cots, tents, sleeping bags, chairs & water-resistant bag.
-
MEALS »

Return to Moab by van: $69 or return to Moab by Scenic Canyonlands Flight: $115

Days One and Two Glide
along on smooth-flowing currents winding through Canyonlands
National Park. Sculpted sandstone, isolated buttes, and red rock
castles offer unparalleled vistas for picture taking. Hike to
ancient Indian ruins, pictographs, a breathtaking outlook high
above the mighty Colorado, and powerful Indian Creek Falls.
Capture the excitement to come with rapids before camp on the
second day.
Day Three As the canyon deepens to 2,000 feet, the mood
of the river changes drastically. Here you'll experience over
30 whitewater rapids! In one of the Colorado’s most notorious
stretches called the "Big Drops", your raft plunges 30 feet in a
matter of minutes through rapids that match those of the Grand
Canyon in power and difficulty. Loosen your grip after Imperial
Rapid and perhaps explore the tranquil pools and majestic falls
of Dark Canyon. Relax and enjoy a night of camping where the
river meets Lake Powell.
Day Four Savor a
soothing morning in the sun-drenched canyons of Lake Powell.
Enjoy lunch and a refreshing swim in a shady canyon cove, before
bidding farewell to the mighty Colorado and your many new
friends. Experience an optional scenic return flight to Moab
over Canyonlands National Park.
July & August Paddle Option
As the water slows its pace in July and August, we change from
37' J-Rig rafts to 18' oar boats, and smaller paddle rafts -
making these trips more suitable for teens or active adults. If
you are looking for a more "hands-on" experience, these later
trips are ideal. Legendary whitewater in Cataract Canyon
provides endless excitement whether you choose the larger J-rigs
in June or the smaller boats in July & August. Note: The date in
July at which we switch to the smaller boats is determined by
water levels which are difficult to predict before spring
