Day 1:
Washington DC. (Sat.) Welcome to Washington DC! This evening, mingle with your traveling companions at the 6 p.m. WELCOME RECEPTION. Your Tour Director will prepare you for your upcoming adventure. (WR)

Day 2:
Washington DC. (Sun.) Your half-day guided tour features ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY with the KENNEDY GRAVESITE, and VIETNAM, KOREAN, and WORLD WAR II MEMORIALS, as well as many other well-known sights. Also stop for photos at the White House and Capitol Hill. The afternoon is free to pursue your favorite interests. Maybe visit the Smithsonian Institute, Georgetown, the National Cathedral, or other prominent monuments and museums. Try our optional dinner tonight at one of Washington’s favorite restaurants, followed by an illumination tour of beautiful monuments. (B)

Day 3:
Washington DC–Mount Vernon–Williamsburg. (Mon.) This morning we visit MOUNT VERNON, the restored home of George Washington. Tour the house and gardens, and visit the gravesite. Then visit YORKTOWN HISTORICAL BATTLEFIELD PARK, the site where the British surrendered to Washington’s troops in 1781, bringing the American Revolution to a successful conclusion. This evening, enjoy a Colonial-style dinner at a famous local TAVERN. You’ll have an opportunity to engage in a recreated supper experience savored by 18th-century patriots. (B,D)

Day 4:
Williamsburg. Excursion to Jamestown Settlement. (Tue.) This morning, enjoy an exclusive performance from Sylvia Tabb-Lee, a professional historian. Visit the nearby JAMESTOWN SETTLEMENT for a guided tour to learn about the first permanent English settlement in the New World. Then enter COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG’S HISTORIC AREA, where costumed villagers add to the authenticity. Stroll down its quaint streets, browse through the Historic Trade Shops, and see the Public Gaol. Also be sure to drop in at Raleigh Tavern, the meeting place for Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, and other patriots. Your evening is free. (B)

Day 5:
Williamsburg–Monticello–Shenandoah National Park. (Wed.) First stop is Richmond, Virginia’s capital and once the capital of the Confederacy. Visit ST. JOHN’S CHURCH, where Patrick Henry proclaimed, “Give me liberty or give me death.” On the way to Charlottesville, tour MONTICELLO , Thomas Jefferson’s estate, with its beautiful gardens and imposing mansion designed by Jefferson himself. Enjoy photo stops and panoramic vistas from Skyline Drive in beautiful SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK where you will stay for the night. (B,D)

Day 6:
Shenandoah National Park–Harpers Ferry–Gettysburg. (Thu.) Today, follow much the same route as Lee’s army during its invasion of Pennsylvania. In West Virginia, visit HARPERS FERRY, where John Brown and his “army of liberation” staged their fateful raid on a U.S. arsenal. Continue across Maryland to GETTYSBURG NATIONAL MILITARY PARK. Enjoy a tour of Gettysburg and hear your local guide vividly recount the Battle of 1863. Also spend some free time on your own. This evening, enjoy a Colonial-style candlelit dinner at the elegant DOBBIN HOUSE TAVERN, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. (B,D)

Day 7:
Gettysburg–Valley Forge–Philadelphia. (Fri.) This morning, enjoy an exclusive presentation by Jim Getty, one of America’s foremost Abraham Lincoln portrayers. Then travel through Lancaster County, past Amish farmlands, to VALLEY FORGE. Take a tour of the national historic park, the camp where Washington and his troops endured the harsh winter of 1777–1778. Visit such sites as Washington’s Headquarters, the Grand Parade, and the Washington Memorial Chapel. Continue to Philadelphia, where this evening your Tour Director hosts a special GLOBUS FAREWELL CELEBRATION DINNER. Wonderful conversation and cuisine make the perfect finale for your vacation. Day 8:
Philadelphia. (Sat.) This morning, your sightseeing focuses on the important buildings of this historic city, the birthplace of the nation. Major attractions you will visit include the LIBERTY BELL and INDEPENDENCE HALL. Continue to the Philadelphia Airport for guests with homebound flights (please schedule flights from the Philadelphia Airport after 1:30 p.m.). For land-only passengers who would like to return to Washington DC, the motorcoach will transfer passengers to the Capital Hilton at no additional cost. (B)

Day 1:
Arrive in Washington DC. (Sun.) Welcome to the nation’s capital, Washington DC! Your vacation begins this evening with a WELCOME RECEP TION hosted by your Tour Director. (WR)

Day 2:
Washington DC. (Mon.) After a relaxing breakfast, enjoy a morning SIGHTSEEING TOUR. An experienced Local Guide brings the city alive. Sights include Capitol Hill, the Lincoln Memorial, and Washington Monument. We’ll also cross the Potomac River to visit Arlington National Cemetery. The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy more of Washington DC. Perhaps visit one of DC’s many museums or take a leisurely stroll along the National Mall. After dinner at a local restaurant, enjoy a TWILIGHT TOUR of the capital’s highlights. (B,D)

Day 3:
Washington DC–Williamsburg–Virginia Beach. (Tue.) This morning, tour 173-acre COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG, where the Colonial period comes to life. Your deluxe pass opens every door, including the Governor’s Palace, the George Wythe House, and the Raleigh Tavern. Later this afternoon, travel to Virginia Beach, nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay. (B)

Day 4:
Virginia Beach–Outer Banks. (Wed.) Time this morning to walk along the boardwalk, search the beach for seashells, or just relax and enjoy the fresh ocean air. We continue south into North Carolina and enter the famed Outer Banks. We’ll visit the WRIGHT BROTHERS NATIONAL MEMORIAL which pays tribute to Orville and Wilbur Wright, whose achievement at this spot changed the world forever. We’ll also visit FORT RALEIGH NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE, the first English attempt at colonization in the New World. (B)

Day 5:
Outer Banks–Morehead City. (Thu.) We spend the day exploring the scenic Outer Banks, a thin broken strand of islands which curve out into the Atlantic Ocean and then back again. We’ll follow Cape Hatteras National Seashore with visits to the Bodie Island Lighthouse and CAPE HATTER AS LI GHTHOUSE and Visitors Center. Learn about the island’s ecosystem and the importance of these historic lighthouses. Later today, travel by ferry back to the mainland and overnight in Morehead City. (B,D)

Day 6:
Morehead City–Wilmington. (Fri.) This morning, travel to Wilmington where we’ll visit the BATTLESHIP NORTH CAROLINA. Here you can walk her decks and envision daily life as well as the fierce combat that her crew faced in the Pacific Theatre during WWII . Tonight, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Afterward, you’ll have a haunting experience as you visit the historic district and take a GHOST WALK of Old Wilmington. (B,D)

Day 7:
Wilmington–Myrtle Beach, Choose Your Experience. (Sat.) This morning we continue south into the Palmetto State of South Carolina. Later today, arrive at the sandy beaches of Myrtle Beach. With your free time, enjoy a round of golf, shop for souvenirs, or perhaps just relax with a cool drink on the beach. Tonight, a GLO BUS PL ATIN UM EXCL USIVE: select how you wish to spend your evening. Choose from a variety of shows such as the CAROLINA OPRY and LEGENDS IN CONCERT. (B,D)

Day 8:
Myrtle Beach–Charleston. (Sun.) First stop this morning is famous BROOKGREEN GARDENS, a National Historic Landmark located on an old rice and indigo plantation. Your guided tour will show off over 550 pieces of art comprising the world’s finest outdoor collection of American figurative sculptures. Later, drive through historic Georgetown, where the first permanent settlers arrived in the early 1700s. This afternoon, tour Charleston, one of the last bastions of the Old South. The city is world-renowned for its charm, splendid architecture, colorful homes and gardens, shady tree-lined streets, and fresh sea air. This evening, join an optional dinner cruise aboard the Spirit of Carolina. (B)

Day 9:
Charleston. (Mon.) Your morning is at leisure to explore more of this charming town. Shop for antiques on King Street, spend time at the South Carolina Aquarium, or visit bustling Market Square. Later this afternoon, visit MAGNOLIA PLANTATION where you’ll tour the gardens and enjoy a tram ride. We’ll then visit MIDDLETON PLACE , a National Historic Landmark and a carefully preserved 18th-century plantation that has survived revolution, Civil War, and an earthquake. We end our day with a festive FAREWEL DINNER at this lovely plantation set on the Ashley River. (B,D)

Day 10:
Charleston. (Tue.) The vacation ends this morning with guests departing on individual schedules. Transfers are provided. (B)

Boston–Portland–Bar Harbor. From Massachusetts, head north via New Hampshire’s short shoreline and along Maine’s rocky coast to Portland, one of New England’s most famous cities. Stroll down the cobblestone streets of Portland’s famous Old Port Exchange, lined with its many boutiques, coffee houses, and art galleries. The next two nights are in Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island, Maine’s oldest summer resort. This evening, choose from the many fine specialty restaurants this quaint seaside community has to offer. Day 3:

Take the scenic park road and enjoy the spectacular panorama from the summit of Cadillac Mountain, the first place in the continental United States to see the sunrise. Afternoon is at leisure to pursue your favorite interests and activities. Maybe join an optional whale-watching expedition or stroll around the charming Bar Harbor waterfront with its many shops, galleries, and boutiques. Your dinner this evening is a typical LOBSTER BAKE featuring Maine lobster, steamed mussels, and delicious corn on the cob. (B,D)

Day 4:
Bar Harbor–North Conway. Back to the mainland and west through Maine for vistas of sparkling lakes and forests. Then on to New Hampshire and the scenic White Mountains, New England’s greatest range and premier outdoor playgrounds. At Pinkham Notch, board the Wildcat Mountain GONDOLA for a thrilling ride to the 4,397-foot summit. Savor the 360-degree panorama of Mount Washington Valley and the famous Presidential Range, whose peaks are named after many U.S. presidents. Also enjoy a presentation on the RAVEN INTERPRETIVE PROGRAM and local wildlife. (B)

Day 5:
North Conway–Franconia Notch–Killington. Depart for a beautiful drive along the renowned Kancamagus Highway. Hugging the Connecticut River, head south to Hanover where you will see the Dartmouth College campus, one of the nation’s eight prestigious Ivy League institutions. Cross the river into Vermont and look forward to two more sightseeing stops on the way to Killington. First, visit Woodstock, its village green reminiscent of 19th-century England. Then on to nearby BILLINGS FARM AND MUSEUM, a living museum of Vermont’s rural past as well as a working dairy farm. (B)

Day 6:
Killington–Stockbridge–Sturbridge. This morning, visit the NEW ENGLAND MAPLE MUSEUM to learn about the history of sugaring over the past 200 years and to sample various grades of maple syrup. Next, journey south to Stockbridge in the Berkshire Mountains for a visit to the NORMAN ROCKWELL STUDIO AND MUSEUM, which houses a large collection of works by one of America’s favorite artists. Continue on to Sturbridge, one of New England’s most charming towns. (B,D)

Day 7:
Sturbridge–Newport. This morning you’ll visit STURBRIDGE VILLAGE to explore early New England in the company of farmers, craftsmen, and fascinating characters at this 19th-century living history museum. Head south to explore MYSTIC SEAPORT, a living museum showcasing the many activities that might have been found in a New England coastal village in the 1800s. Next, travel to Rhode Island, the “Ocean State.” (B)

Day 8:
Newport. Today, enjoy a Newport orientation tour and see the first state house, the nation’s oldest synagogue, and the city’s oldest meeting house and library. Afterward, explore the extravagant lifestyle of a bygone era when visiting THE BREAKERS, shipping magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt’s turn-of-the-century mansion. Your afternoon is free for exploring on your own. This evening, your Tour Director hosts a special GLOBUS FAREWELL CELEBRATION DINNER at a local restaurant. (B,D)

Day 9:
Newport–Boston. Depart this morning for Boston. Your tour of the city’s landmarks with a Local Guide focuses on the city’s most prominent landmarks, including the historic sites near Boston Common; Old State House; Old North Church, where Paul Revere got the signal to start his famous ride; Freedom Trail; and Faneuil Hall, with an opportunity to browse through Quincy Market. After a transfer to the airport for guests who have homebound flights, the motorcoach continues to downtown to the Boston Park Plaza Hotel where the vacation ends. Please schedule flights from Boston’s Logan Airport after 3:30 p.m. (B)

Boston. Welcome to “Bean Town!” This evening, mix and mingle with your traveling companions at the 6 p.m. WELCOME RECEPTION. Your Tour Director will prepare you for your upcoming adventure. (WR)

Day 2:
Boston–Stockbridge–Berkshire Mountains. Your morning tour of Boston highlights the historic sites near Boston Common, Old State House, Old North Church, and the Freedom Trail. Depart Boston for DEERFIELD, a National Historic District. The town was an outpost of English Colonial civilization. Enjoy lunch at the historic Deerfield Inn, a classic country inn built in 1884. Travel through valleys of unspoiled New England villages to Stockbridge. Here visit the NORMAN ROCKWELL STUDIO AND MUSEUM, housing a large collection of works by one of America’s favorite artists. Berkshire Mountains–Stowe. Head north to Stowe. Visit nearby SHELBURNE HERITAGE PARK, a fascinating, 45-acre outdoor museum depicting early New England life. Kennebunkport–Boston. A scenic drive along the rocky coastline of Maine to Massachusetts with a call at Salem, infamous for the largest witch hunt in American history. You’ll have time to visit the many historic landmarks. Return to Boston with a stop at the airport for guests with homebound flights. Day 1:
Arrive in Boston, MA. Welcome to Boston, the “Cradle of Liberty.” Your vacation begins with tonight’s WELCOME RECEPTION hosted by your Tour Director. (WR)

Day 2:
Boston. This morning, enjoy a TOUR of the downtown sights featuring the historic North End, Boston Common, the State House, Faneuil Hall, and Copley Square. This afternoon and evening are at leisure for you to enjoy more of this vibrant city. (B)

Day 3:
Boston–Ogunquit–Kennebunkport. This morning, travel into Maine with a stop in charming Ogunquit, where there’s time to stroll the beach or browse the unique shops and boutiques. Folks settling this area were bound to the sea, and even today the seafaring culture is still much in evidence. Early this afternoon, arrive at Kennebunkport on the Maine shore, with time to explore the galleries of Dock Square. This evening, your Tour Director hosts a festive LOBSTER DINNER. (B,D)

Day 4:
Kennebunkport–Portland–North Conway. We continue along Maine’s coast with a stop in picturesque Portland. An orientation tour highlights downtown, the Old Port, and the bustling waterfront area. Travel through Maine’s lake region to New Hampshire and spend the evening in North Conway, northern New England’s outdoor adventure capital. (B,D)

Day 5:
North Conway–Eastern Township Area. Today, enjoy scenic landscapes as you wind your way through the White Mountains. Visit Franconia Notch, taking an included ride up the CANNON MOUNTAIN TRAMWAY for a panoramic view of the Presidential Range. Next, travel north through Vermont and enter the French province of Québec. We’ll visit one of the region’s award-winning vineyards and enjoy a tour and WINE TASTING before arriving at your resort for an overnight stay. (B,D)

Day 6:
Eastern Township Area–Québec City. This morning we’ll visit the beautiful ABBEY of Saint Benoit du Lac where you’ll sample some of their homemade cheeses and cider and enjoy incredible views of the lake. We’ll then continue through the Québec countryside and arrive in historic Québec City for a 2-night stay. Your guided CITY TOUR of Canada’s only walled city includes the historic Plains of Abraham, the narrow cobblestone streets in Lower Town, and the great turrets of the Chateau Frontenac. (B,D)

Day 7:
Québec City. Choose Your Experience. A GLO BUS PLATINUM EXCLUSIVE, today you select how you wish to spend your day. We then travel northwest to the Laurentian Region, home to lakes, rivers, forests, and rich agricultural land dotted with picturesque villages. This afternoon, enjoy a CRUISE on the beautiful Lac des Sables where you’ll learn about the history of the area and enjoy picturesque scenery. Overnight in the resort area of Mont Tremblant. (B)

Day 9:
Laurentians–Montréal. Time this morning to relax at your resort or perhaps take a stroll along the quaint village streets. Later, head to the bustling river port of Montréal, one of the world’s largest French-speaking cities and a cosmopolitan center of arts and culture. Your CITY TOUR includes Old Montréal, Notre Dame Basilica, and Mount Royal. This evening, enjoy a FAREWELL DINER in Old Montréal with your traveling companions. (B,D)
