Hearty
Breakfasts and Fine Dining
Whether you savor the
time-tested menus of your included meals, or experiment more boldly
during lunch breaks and at optional gourmet dinners, with Globus
you'll taste the true flavors of the Old World.
Meals you enjoy in the company of
your traveling companions are entertaining events. You'll discuss
upcoming destinations, compare notes on the sights you've seen,
and, of course, sit down to delectable breakfasts and dinners.
Hearty breakfasts start your day
Breakfast habits vary in different
parts of Europe. Globus features the continental breakfast - the
norm for many tour companies - only in London. It consists of a
glass of fruit juice, coffee, tea, milk, breakfast rolls, butter,
and preserves.
Elsewhere our minimum standard is the
European-style buffet breakfast. It includes all
the ingredients of
the continental breakfast, plus other choices, such as whole-grain
bread, croissants, cereals, fruit, yogurt, cheese, and cold cuts.
Wherever possible Globus provides a
full cooked breakfast. For now this is the case in Britain (except
London), Ireland, Scandinavia, Russia, Israel, and on our cruises.
The type of breakfast you can look
forward to every morning is clearly indicated in each tour
description.
Three-course dinners
Globus hotels serve three-course dinners
that appeal to overseas visitors. The meals are carefully planned to
avoid the repetition of entrees. Wherever possible, Globus includes local
favorites that we know you'll enjoy. Tea and coffee are served
after your dinners for a perfect finish.
Unlike an airline we cannot process
requests for special meals. While some hotels may be able to provide
for a special diet, such as vegetarian or salt-free food, there is
no way for us to guarantee this. Special food usually costs extra.
Please ask your tour director for assistance.
We do not include hotel dinners where
they clash with show times, or where dining out
at local restaurants
is a major attraction. We don't want you to have paid for a meal
that you then skip to take advantage of the best a city has to
offer. Your tour director knows the local scene and can guide you to
restaurants, nightclubs, and other places of entertainment.
Lunches on your own
Globus has scheduled most lunch
breaks so you are free to sample local specialties or dine lightly
on salads, soups, and sandwiches. Your tour director will point out
small cafés and restaurants where the locals eat.
On cruises and in some Eastern
European countries lunches are included. Please check the tour pages
for details.

sightseeing, you want to relax in comfortable, clean, attractive
accommodations. At our first class, conveniently located hotels,
you'll always feel welcome and well looked after.
Enjoy a warm welcome and efficient
service at every Globus hotel. It's by the judicious choice of
hotels that Globus has become the leader in the field of first-class
touring.
- Superior first-class and
first-class accommodations nearly everywhere
- Twin-bedded rooms with private
bathrooms
- Hotel taxes and tips for
restaurant service and baggage handling are included
- Convenient hotel locations
maximize your sightseeing time
We know that excellent accommodations
are of paramount importance to your enjoyment on tour. Our hotels
- many of them through long association with us - have mastered
the art of handling group check-ins and baggage speedily, preparing
tasty and wholesome meals, and balancing the need for efficiency
with the desire of each traveler to receive individual attention.
You won't be surprised with any
hidden charges when you check out of your Globus
hotel. All hotel
taxes and tips for restaurant service and baggage handling are
included
in the price of your tour.
Hotel locations
maximize your sightseeing time
All aspects of a Globus
tour - including hotel accommodations - are planned to maximize
your sightseeing time and enhance your overall touring experience.
We take extra care to select downtown
locations for our independent tours and for longer stays on escorted
tours, when your itinerary features days at leisure to explore on
your own.
When your itinerary allows time only
for a good night's sleep between two busy sightseeing days, our
expert contractors sometimes sensibly opt for quiet residential
areas.
And you'll be delighted with our
choice of hotels in scenic countryside locations. Wake
up to the
sound of cow bells, take a morning walk in crisp mountain air, enjoy
glorious panoramic views of the majestic Alps or the Norwegian fjord
country...
Superior
accommodation
Globus is proud to be
associated with some of Europe's finest establishments. Many
belong to famous chains such as Best Western, Crowne Plaza, Hilton,
Holiday Inn, Inter-Continental, Jolly, Queens Moat Houses,
Mövenpick,
Radisson SAS, Ramada, Scandic, Sheraton and Thistle. You'll find
the same hotels in competitors' programs
with a much higher price
tag.
The specific hotels we have selected
for you are listed separately for each tour. The vast
majority of our hotels are rated deluxe (D), superior first-class
(SF), or first-class (F). In overnight places where there is no
hotel in these categories or where our demand exceeds the supply, we
choose the best available superior tourist-class (ST) hotels.
Globus hotel ratings follow standards
set by the independent Official Hotel Guide (OHG)
or by national
tourist boards. The specific rating for each contract hotel is
determined by our quality controllers.
Globus reserve the right to
substitute hotels listed on the tour pages with hotels of equivalent
standard. With your Globus travel documents you'll receive a list
of hotel addresses, telephone numbers, and fax numbers for your
tour.
Extra Nights Before and After Your
Tour
If you'd like more hotel nights
than we've provided at the start or end of your tour, we can make
reservations for you at the rates quoted below, provided you request
them at the time you book your tour. Rates are per person, per
night, and include room with private bath, breakfast, service
charges, and taxes.
Extra nights are only available
immediately prior to or after your tour. Extra pre-tour
nights in
London are not available if you join your tour later than day 2.
Every effort will be made to reserve
extra nights at the hotel where your tour stays. If space at the
tour hotel is not available, alternative accommodation will be
reserved at a hotel of equivalent standard. When this is the case,
the transfer to and from the tour hotel is at your expense.
As hotel space is limited, we cannot
reserve more than three extra nights before and/or after a tour,
unless they are needed to bridge the gap between two Globus tours.
During particularly busy periods, hotel space in certain cities can
become so tight that we may be unable to sell extra nights.
