Frequently Asked Questions |
What is the
climate like? During the summer months of June through
September, temperatures in the day average between 80 and 95
degrees Fahrenheit, and dip down to 60 degrees Fahrenheit in at
night. In the summer, the weather is generally sunny, crisp and
clear.
How strenuous are the activities? While this adventure is
not considered physically strenuous, most days will include one
or more hours of walking and Guests should feel comfortable
spending time exploring the outdoors. While in Moab, the
itinerary includes a gentle (Classes I-II) river rafting
activity. The hike in Arches National Park consists of a steady
uphill ascent with an approximate 500' elevation gain (and loss
on the descent) on a surface of smooth stone, dirt and gravel.
As an alternative to the hike, a motor coach excursion in Arches
National Park is available. Temperatures may be hot and, at
times, under exposed terrain, so wear cool clothing and a hat,
and drink plenty of water. While nearly all of the trip's
featured activities are gentle if examined separately, the full
range of activities requires a moderate amount of stamina in
order to get the most of your vacation.
What ages are appropriate for this adventure? While we
welcome children ages 4 and up at the time of travel to discover
the stories of the world with us, we recommend that children be
at least 6 years old at the time of travel on our Southwest
Splendors trip. This is based on several factors, such as high
altitude at destination, duration of the vacation, extended
hours of daily activity programming, potential for extreme
temperatures in the summer months, and amount of physical
activity (e.g., hiking, rafting, jeep off/road tours) involved.
Because each child is different, call a Concierge Agent to
discuss whether this is the right trip for your kids.
