Frequently Asked Questions |
What is the
climate like? During the summer months of June through
September, temperatures in the day average between 70 and 80
degrees Fahrenheit, and dip down to 40 degrees Fahrenheit at
night. In the summer, the weather is generally sunny and clear,
with the occasional rain shower.
How strenuous are the activities? While this adventure is not
considered strenuous, the adventure takes place at altitudes of
approximately 6,300 feet to 9,500 feet. This adventure includes
whitewater rafting (Classes I-III), horseback riding, and a hike
in the Tetons National Park that consists of a steady uphill
ascent with an approximate 500' elevation gain (and loss on the
descent) on a surface of packed dirt with occasional loose
stones and exposed tree roots. One may choose a shorter option
on the same trail. Guests should feel comfortable spending time
exploring the outdoors. While nearly all of the trip's featured
activities are gentle if examined separately, the full range of
activities requires a moderate amount of stamina in order to get
the most of your vacation.
What ages are appropriate for this adventure? While we
welcome children ages 4 and up at the time of travel to discover
the stories of the world with us, we recommend that children be
at least 5 years old at the time of travel on our Quest for the
West trip. This is based on several factors, such as high
altitude at destination and amount of physical activity (e.g.,
rafting, hiking, horseback riding) involved. Because each child
is different, call a Concierge Agent to discuss whether this is
the right trip for your kids.
