Day 3: ARRIVE MELBOURNE (3 NIGHTS)
On arrival at Melbourne Airport you are transferred to your hotel (flights to arrive prior to 4pm). This evening meet your Tour Director and traveling companions for a Welcome Drink.
Day 4: MELBOURNE SIGHTSEEING - AT LEISURE
See the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Shrine of Remembrance and more on a sightseeing tour. Later, enjoy time at leisure.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 5: MELBOURNE AT LEISURE
A full day at leisure. Perhaps see the Twelve Apostles along the Great Ocean Road or take a ride on the Puffing Billy steam train.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 6: MELBOURNE - ALICE SPRINGS
Board your morning flight to Alice Springs. On arrival visit the School of the Air, which provides an educational service for children living in remote areas. Later, you'll join the Heaslip family for a Be My Guest afternoon tea at Bond Springs Station. Hear about their life working on their 1,000 square mile cattle grazing property.(Buffet Breakfast / Be My Guest dinner / Dinner)
Day 7: ALICE SPRINGS - AYERS ROCK (2 NIGHTS)
Before departing Alice Springs you'll visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Learn how this marvelous facility operates to provide a mantle of safety to the people of the Outback. En route to Ayers Rock Resort call in at an Indigenous owned center to view the art of the Impanpa Aboriginal Community. This evening enjoy a complimentary glass of wine while watching the spectacular sunset at Uluṟu (Ayers Rock).(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 8: KATA TJUTA (THE OLGAS)
View sunrise at Uluṟu (Ayers Rock). Tour the caves at the base of Uluṟu and hear stories of the Aboriginal Dreamtime. Then visit the Uluṟu - Kata Tjuṯa Cultural Centre. Later, you'll travel through the desert plains to Kata Tjuṯa (the Olgas). Take a walk through Walpa Gorge and gaze down the central valley of Kata Tjuṯa. Finally experience a spectacular sunset with complimentary sparkling wine at Kata Tjuṯa (the Olgas).(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 9: AYERS ROCK - CAIRNS (3 NIGHTS)
This morning is at leisure before you fly to the holiday resort of Cairns. Later, spend time at the Cairns Wildlife Dome where you’ll encounter unique Australian animals.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 10: GREAT BARRIER REEF
Board a high speed catamaran for the most unforgettable day on the Great Barrier Reef. Enjoy an informative reef education presentation by a marine naturalist. See the fascinating coral formations and other exotic marine life from the underwater observatory and the semi-submersible craft. After a Highlight Lunch, there's time to relax, snorkel some more or scuba dive (own expense).(Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Lunch)
Day 11: CAIRNS AT LEISURE
Enjoy a full day at leisure. Perhaps take an excursion on the Skyrail Cableway to Kuranda or visit the Daintree National Park.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 12: CAIRNS - SYDNEY (3 NIGHTS)
We will transfer you to the airport to board your flight to Sydney, where your evening is at leisure.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 13: SYDNEY SIGHTSEEING - AT LEISURE
After breakfast, see stunning views of Sydney Harbour Bridge and city skyline on a sightseeing tour, before you join a guided tour of the Opera House. Re-board your coach and travel through the eastern suburbs to Bondi Beach, where you'll have time to stroll along the famous golden sand. Return to the city and enjoy a luxury cruise on Sydney Harbour including a Highlight Lunch on board.(Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Lunch)
Day 14: SYDNEY AT LEISURE
Enjoy a full day at leisure. Maybe take a trip to Canberra, Australia's capital or an excursion to the Blue Mountains and Featherdale Wildlife Park. Spend your last evening in Sydney together along with your Tour Director at a Farewell Dinner in a local restaurant by the water.(Buffet Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)
Day 15: SYDNEY - AUCKLAND (2 NIGHTS)
Board your morning flight to Auckland. On arrival in Auckland you will be transferred to your hotel. The afternoon is free for you to explore Auckland. You could visit the Sky Tower for amazing views of the city, Viaduct Harbour and the surrounding volcanic hills. Perhaps visit the Auckland Museum or go shopping in stylish Parnell. This evening enjoy a Welcome Drink and dinner with your Travel Director and fellow travelling companions.(Dinner)
Day 16: AUCKLAND SIGHTSEEING
Start the day with a sightseeing tour of the city. You’ll see Bastion Point, the War Memorial, Viaduct Harbour, the Auckland Harbour Bridge and more. Later, board your cruise on Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour. Sit back and relax – the time is yours – it’s the best way to see Auckland, the City of Sails!(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 17: AUCKLAND - ROTORUA
Trace the Waikato River to the Waitomo Caves. Tour the amazing Glow Worm Grotto by boat with a Local Guide and walk through the limestone caves. From here your journey continues to Rotorua, where you’ll visit Te Puia (New Zealand’s Maori culture and geothermal experience). A Local Maori Guide will escort you through the Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve with its mud pools and geysers. This evening enjoy a Maori Hangi Highlight Dinner accompanied by local wine and followed by a concert, to experience traditional Maori culture.(Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)
Day 18: ROTORUA - CHRISTCHURCH
Your morning sightseeing tour includes a visit to Rainbow Springs Nature Park, where with a Local Guide you will discover native bush, ferns and trees that grow around the crystal clear mineral water springs. You may even spot a kiwi, New Zealand’s national icon! Then you’ll visit the Agrodome Sheep Show, the multi-award-winning stage show where you’ll gain an informative and exciting insight into agriculture in New Zealand. You’ll see the art of sheep shearing, sheepdog demonstrations, cow milking, bottle-feeding of lambs and an exciting sheep auction. In the afternoon you’ll fly to Christchurch (flights to depart after 12pm).(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 19: TRANZALPINE - FRANZ JOSEF
Journey through the Southern Alps on the TranzAlpine Train. At Hokitika visit a local greenstone (jade) factory. Continue to Franz Josef Glacier where you'll have an opportunity for an optional scenic flight (weather permitting).(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 20: FRANZ JOSEF - QUEENSTOWN (3 NIGHTS)
Drive over the Haast Pass, past Thunder Creek Falls, Lakes Wanaka, Hawea and Dunstan. Enjoy the tastes of delicious stone fruit at Cromwell – the stone fruit capital. Next visit the historic gold mining village of Arrowtown on the Arrow River, before arriving in adventure-capital Queenstown.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 21: MILFORD SOUND
An early start for Milford Sound. Drive along the shores of Lake Wakatipu to Te Anau then through the rainforest of Fiordland National Park. Travel through the hand-hewn Homer Tunnel to abundant photo opportunities afforded by the Mirror Lake, Cleddau Valley and the Chasm, en route to Milford Sound to board your cruise including a Highlight Lunch.(Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Lunch)
Day 22: QUEENSTOWN AT LEISURE

Travel past Mount Cook National Park. Next visit Lake Tekapo stopping at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Join us at Morelea Farm, a typical working sheep farm. You are welcomed into the home of your hosts Angie and Stan to enjoy a Be My Guest lunch in their 750 acre garden and gain an insight into the day to day operation of farm life. When traveling alone, we understand that some travelers do not want to incur the expense of an additional single room supplement. With this in mind, on the majority of their itineraries, Trafalgar offers you the opportunity to purchase these trips on a room-sharing basis. They will accommodate you with a fellow passenger of the same gender on a ‘two-bedded’ basis (non-smoking rooms only).
