Day 2: ARRIVE ROME (3 NIGHTS)
Welcome to Rome, the Eternal City! Relax after your journey, then meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers later for a Welcome Reception. This evening, enjoy an orientation drive to see St. Peter's Basilica and the Tiber, a great introduction to this magical city.(Welcome Reception)
Day 3: ROME SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME
Your knowledgeable Local Guide gives a vivid historic account of the Vatican during your guided tour. See Michelangelo’s magnificent paintings in the Sistine Chapel. See more incredible works of art in St. Peter's Basilica, including Michelangelo's Pietà . Your tour continues across the Tiber to ancient Rome. View the Forum and Circus Maximus. Visit the Colosseum, the largest amphi in the Roman Empire. Spend free time afterwards appreciating this unique city. Tonight, why not sample local at a typical trattoria?(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 4: ROME - AT LEISURE
The day is yours to explore this wonderful city. Your included hop-on hop-off city sightseeing ticket is an opportunity to see the sights. Consider a trip to the ancient catacombs or take an excursion to Tivoli, site of the magnificent Villa d'Este. Visit museums and gardens, or simply experience ‘la dolce vita’ at a sidewalk café in one of the city’s many piazzas.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 5: ROME - MONTE CASSINO - POMPEII - AMALFI COAST (MAIORI) (3 NIGHTS)
Stop to view the Abbey at Monte Cassino and visit the cemetery in the valley below. In Pompeii - buried for centuries when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD - your expert Local Guide takes you on a fascinating small group sightseeing tour of the excavations. Arrive later at your hotel on the Amalfi Coast where you dine tonight.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 6: AMALFI COAST FREE TIME
Your day is free to do as you please. Perhaps visit the splendid Villa Rufolo at Ravello or shop for souvenirs. Spend the evening sipping limoncello while overlooking the glorious Bay of Salerno!(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 7: AMALFI COAST - ISLE OF CAPRI EXCURSION
Sail to the magical island of Capri, a favourite resort among Italians. Ascend to Capri town by funicular railway for a guided walking tour which includes views of the Faraglioni Rocks, Marina Piccola and the famous Piazzetta. Later, your Travel Director takes you on an orientation tour of Amalfi town, featuring medieval streets and the spectacular Romanesque Church.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 8: AMALFI COAST (MAIORI) - FLORENCE (2 NIGHTS)
North through Umbria and into Tuscany you arrive in Florence. Tonight why not dine at one of the city’s many trattorias.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 9: FLORENCE SIGHTSEEING AND WINE TASTING
Florence is a beautiful city with a wealth of Renaissance treasures to discover. Your expert Local Guide shows you all the main sights including the marble Duomo and Piazza Signoria, with its amazing sculptures. View the famous Ponte Vecchio, followed by a wine tasting with your Travel Director featuring popular Tuscan wines.
