Day 2: ARRIVE ROME (2 NIGHTS)
Welcome to Rome, capital of Italy! Relax after check-in, or take a leisurely stroll through the city’s ancient streets. Day 3: ROME SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME
Your morning sightseeing tour with your expert Local Guide starts with a visit to the Sistine Chapel to see Michelangelo's magnificent frescoed ceiling! Visit St. Peter's Basilica, one of the holiest Christian sites in the world. Your sightseeeing tour continues in ancient Rome. See the Forum, and the Circus Maximus where chariot races took place. Visit the mighty Colosseum, where Romans enjoyed a range of public events. Spend the rest of the day seeing the sights of your choice or relax in a café and watch the world go by! NOTE: Certain departures will visit the Sistine Chapel on your return to Rome.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 4: ROME - POMPEII - ISLE OF CAPRI (2 NIGHTS)
Visit the Commonwealth Cemetery at Monte Cassino in the valley below the Abbey. Visit the excavations at Pompeii - buried for centuries beneath volcanic ash after Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD - with commentary from your expert Local Guide. In Sorrento, see fine local craftsmanship at an inlaid wood factory. Cruise across the Bay of Naples to the beautiful Isle of Capri, your home for the next two nights! Day 5: CAPRI ORIENTATION AND FREE TIME
Your walking orientation of Capri town includes views of the Faraglioni Rocks and Marina Piccola. Admire the legendary Piazzetta, the of local life! Spend free time shopping at elegant boutiques, or perhaps explore the coast of this pretty island by private motor launch.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 6: ISLE OF CAPRI - NAPLES - ASSISI
Sail back across the Mediterranean to 'Bella Napoli'. Drive through Naples and north via Latium into the Umbrian hills to the mystical town of Assisi. Your expert Local Guide shows you the sights including views of the Church of St. Mary of the Angels, where St. Francis died. Visit the Basilica, featuring frescoes by Giotto. Day 7: ASSISI - CLASSE - VENICE (2 NIGHTS)
Visit the Basilica of Saint Apollinaris in Classe, famous for it's glittering Byzantine mosaics. Arrive later in Venice, Queen of the Adriatic.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 8: VENICE SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME
Venice is a remarkable Byzantine city with a rich cultural and maritime history, which is evident during your cruise to St. Mark’s Square. See the Basilica, Bridge of Sighs and Doge's Palace. Watch a demonstration of the ancient art of Murano glass-blowing at one of the oldest workshops on the island. Day 9: VENICE - BRENTA CANAL - MONTECATINI (TUSCAN HILLS) (2 NIGHTS)

"I went on this trip in the fall of last year and has a marvelous time getting to know 3 distinct Italian eating experiences all of which delved into the rich Italian cultures, each one as enchanting at the next. Our favorites were pizza margherita and the tiramisu in Rome. In Capri, we stopped at a local farm for a demonstration on how cheese and olive oil are made. The meal that followed was amazing. freshly baked bread with olive oil, fresh tomatoes and olives, lunch meats and Limoncello. In Venice we had the most amazing seafood on the island of Burano. Of course we saw lots of history and amazing sites, but being foodies we wanted to share that side of the trip with you - Italian food will not disappoint!"
