The Best of Italy
Vacation Overview
On this Best of Italy tour, visit some of Italy’s most popular cities, including Rome, Florence, Venice, Pisa, and Assisi. See the must-see sights in these cities, including the Vatican Museums, Colosseum, and Roman Forum in Rome; the Leaning Tower of Pisa; St. Mark’s Square and Basilica in Venice; and the church where St. Francis is buried—St. Francis Basilica—in Assisi. In Orvieto, situated high atop a volcanic rock, ride a funicular through the ramparts and visit the cathedral. A tour highlight is Pompeii, which was completely buried during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Imagine what life was like 2,000 years ago—this preserved town gives you an amazingly detailed look into life at the peak of the Roman Empire. Admire the paintings still on the walls, and look for the early fast-food restaurants beloved by ancient Romans. Another tour highlight is the picturesque Isle of Capri, where you’ll ride the funicular to Capri village and have time to pamper yourself at one of its luxurious spas, shop at its designer shops, enjoy limoncello (a sweet local drink), savor the sumptuous cuisine at a bistro, and enjoy the amazing views of the breathtaking azure sea. Italy can satisfy even the most discerning traveler, and this tour allows you to experience its stunning beauty, ancient ruins, amazing sculptures, exquisite art, tasty cuisine, fine wines, and so much more. So grab your camera and leave all the details to Globus, so you can just enjoy yourself on this memorable vacation!

Admire herds of elephant as they thunder across the savannah grasslands, see a pride of lions lounging in the sun, and witness the free spirit of the birds flying overhead.
Highlights on this tour include Tarangire National Park, with the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem. With its permanent water source, it's a great place to see elephant, eland, zebra, Cape buffalo, wildebeest, and more. Lake Manyara National Park is home to the world's largest concentration of baboons and over 400 species of birds. Also visit Serengeti National Park, Tanzania's largest park and home to the "Big 5"—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and Cape buffalo. Ngorongoro Crater, which is technically a caldera, offers you the best possibility of seeing the rare black rhinoceros.
This trip offers you not only amazing opportunities to see wildlife, it also gives you a chance to get an insight into the local culture. Visit a local Maasai village to learn about this semi-nomadic tribe. Also, visit Olduvai Gorge, where remains of hominids and fossilized hominid footprints were discovered—providing new facts into human evolution.

Triple Room Reduction

You can also save when three people travel together and share accommodations. Refer to the itinerary pages for the specific reduction per tour.
Big Savings for Small Groups

Traveling with family and friends has always been rewarding, and now the rewards can really pile up. Small groups of 5, 6, or 7 can save 5% per person off the land-only portion of Globus vacations.
And don't forget: in groups of 8 to 15, one person travels at half-price; in a group of 16+, one person travels free. So, bring others along and multiply the fun—and the savings!
Avoid the Single Room Supplement

We do not take reservations on a “share” basis because we have found that strangers rarely enjoy sharing a room for the duration of their vacation. Avoid the single room supplement by traveling with a friend. It’s less expensive and much more fun!

Colleen rated this tour a 4 on 9/4/2011 7:13:47 AM and says:
"My husband and I returned from a trip to Italy last week, and we want you to know how impressed we were with Globus. We booked a tour called The Best of Italy, through our travel agent Denise Nesler at Doug Fox Travel. We spent 12 days with a wonderful group of people, all led by the best tour director you must have, Elio Bassi. There was nothing Elio couldn’t do. He was so much fun, his wealth of knowledge was endless, and with him nothing ever went wrong. We would also like to recognize Rafaelli, our bus driver, who got us expertly and safely everywhere in Italy. We will highly recommend Globus to everyone, and want to congratulate you on having a great tour company that delivered more than we expected and employs such great people. We will be sure to use Globus for our next trip."
Nodin rated this tour a 4 on 8/8/2011 5:39:38 AM and says:
" To put it best, this is a vacation to get to know a country, in this case Italy, which we did. It was a busy schedule and it surprised me when some people on the bus were complaining. Why did you pick this trip then? This tour visited every place we wanted to see in Italy, and if it took waking up at 6:30 on some mornings, so what? We have to wake up at 6 to get the kids ready and into the Disney parks early to avoid the lines. The hotels were clean, comfortable and safe nothing luxurious, but we did our research ahead of time and felt we got a good value. People need to use the internet or a travel agent and be more imformed before they book a vacation and have a negative attitude. Perhaps we Australians have a more positive outlook on things. Overall nice trip.
