Your Tour Itinerary Includes
DAY 1: Moab, Utah
Moab is renowned as Utah's adventure capital. It offers everything from whitewater rafting to hiking and biking and is the ideal place to begin your outdoor adventure. Today, meet your guides and fellow travellers at your downtown Moab hotel. This evening, learn how to pack your "dry bags" during an informative pre-trip briefing.
DAY 2: Moab/Green River
Take a spectacular scenic flight to a mesa above the river, where you are met by one of your guides who loads your gear into a vehicle and takes it to the boats. Enjoy the scenery on a short hike down the mesa to the river. This first stretch has very little rapids, so there is plenty of time for swimming and relaxing. Discover the secrets of human and natural history in this section of the canyon including Sumner's Amphitheater, named by John Wesley Powell in 1869, and an abandoned iron-prowed skiff. Camps are on sandy beaches. The supply raft arrives at camp and your guides create a river dining area and your tented accommodations. Your river chefs begin the evening's dining presentation.

DAY 3: Green River
In the morning, guides teach you how to enjoy the rapids safely by explaining the nuances of the river and safety techniques. You have the opportunity to practice your inflatable kayak skills in fun, small rapids or ride on the oar boat while your guide rows downstream. En route, you stop at Flat Canyon where 1,000 years ago Native Americans carved petroglyphs into the canyon walls. There is time to admire desert wildflowers, wild horses and Big Horn sheep. Lunch is served on a sandy beach where you enjoy delicious salads, sandwiches, fruits, cookies and soft drinks. Spend the afternoon playing in the kayaks and swimming. Late afternoon is for nature walks, relaxing along the riverbank or settling in around camp. Discuss the day's excitement with new acquaintances over freshly prepared appetizers and beverages. Meals: B L D
DAY 4: Green River
Today, you enter the deepest part of Desolation Canyon. The walls tower over the river, more than 5,000 feet from river to canyon rim - deeper than the Grand Canyon. This is another fun day of whitewater. Some of the rapids you challenge today are Snap Canyon, Belknap Falls, Chandler Falls and Cow Swim. You have the opportunity to refresh yourself by swimming in the river and exploring the Rock Creek Ranch where Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch hung out. This evening's camp is another sandy beach, with a chance to roast marshmallows over an open fire (conditions permitting) and tell stories about the day's adventure.
Meals: B L D
DAY 5: Green River
Some of the biggest whitewater on the trip will be encountered today with Wire Fence and Three Fords rapids. This is a great opportunity to test the inflatable kayak skills learned the previous days. You may also see the McPherson Ranch, another hideout of Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch. Eventually, you leave Desolation Canyon and enter Gray Canyon. Traditionally, the last night of the river trip is "dress-up" night, when you wear a costume you brought from home. This is a great way to celebrate the trip and near completion of your Green River adventure. The river chefs prepare another wonderful meal for all. Meals: B L D
DAY 6: Green River/Moab
On your last day on the river, take pleasure in swimming and playing in the rapids, as well as viewing Fremont Indian petroglyphs. Excitement is in the air as you run some big rapids today - including Coal Creek and Rattlesnake. Just after Nefertiti Rapid, look for magnificent Nefertiti Rock. The take-out is just below Swaseys Rapid and across from spectacular Gunnison Butte. After an adventurous and unforgettable morning, pull off the river and return to Moab in the later afternoon.
