Disney has been busy!  Not only is the Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olin under construction in Hawaii, but they have now announced a new animation themed resort to be located in Walt Disney World, Florida.   With the vast amount of animated movies that have come out over the years, Walt Disney World decided it’s time to develop their own animation themed resort to go along with these movies. The resort has been designed to depict four classic Disney movies: The Little Mermaid, Cars, Finding Nemo and the Lion King. Not only are these four great picks, but they were definite hits in the heart of so many children, as well as adults.

The resort will have 2,000 rooms throughout four different wings, each featuring one of the above classic Disney movies. Of these rooms, 1,120 will be family suites and 864 regular rooms.  Suites will feature both a separate bedroom along with a living room area.  The centerpiece to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will be the patriarch of the Little Mermaid, King Triton standing at 35 feet tall. The model really shows the greatness that is behind Disney with the articulate design it has taken on.

The decor throughout the rest of the resort will not disappoint.  Throughout the courtyard areas there will be larger than life icons representing each movie that will “wow”  guests in the usual Disney style we’ve all grown to love.  This resort is being built adjacent to the Disney’s Pop Century Resort which is off of the Osceola Parkway.

As for the pricing of this new resort there has been comments stating that it is going to cater to the needs of families, not only budget wise, but with fun activities as well. The prices have yet to be formally set, but we do know it will be categorized as a Disney value resort, so we anticipate rates of $80 – $250 per night, depending on the room size, number of people and time of year you are traveling.

The Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will be the 26th resort built by Disney World.  It is expected to open by the end of 2012.
